I got this phone this week...and I´m really IMPRESSED on how easy it´s typing on its touch screen! It´s really comfortable and easy using! W-LAN has a very good speed connection...
            it´s resolution looks GREAT!
kind of weaky on it´s camera...if you´re looking for BAEUTIFUL pictures, get yourself a real digital camera...this is a GREAT phone with acceptable pics quality.
I won´t miss my old Sony Ericsson...compared to this, Sony sucks!

I've owned my 5530 for about a month now. I have to say I was really impressed with the phone at first, but after a bit you realize a few shortcomings.

First being without 3G isn't that bad unless you want to Skype while on the go. I personally find the Edge network sufficient for surfing the web on Opera Mini. So this is a potential negative but I find 3G more of a bonus instead of a necessity.

The applications available through the official Nokia Ovi store are varied. I found most of the free applications to be junk, with only a handful being moderately useful. The only exception is NimBuzz because it's a pretty solid program for making Skype calls, talking on Google Chat, etc.

I haven't bothered with the pay applications yet because there isn't anything that grabbed my attention and there's also no way to get a refund if it sucks or just plain doesn't work. Someone needs to take a hint from Apple.

The camera on the Nokia is decent. While it isn't better than my point-and-click Nikon Coolpix, it works good enough in a pinch not to be ignored like most GSM cameras.

The music integration that Nokia has hyped is pretty solid. I love that the phone has a built in 3.5mm headphone jack. It's also nice that Nokia allows you to use this port with standard headphones for making phone calls. There's also a handy podcast application making updating your latest issues a breeze.

Now the negative stuff. I find it really puzzling that Nokia didn't include a countdown timer on the 5530. This leads you to an unfulfilling trip to the Ovi store in search of an application to add this functionality. I say unfulfilling because there just isn't a good countdown application to be had. I finally settled with a homebrew application I snagged off a small messageboard, still that's not perfect either.

Another thing I found really annoying is the way Nokia forces your contact's names to be displayed. While you can decided things like first name first, there is no support for a "middle" name. Normally that's not an issue, hell I don't even know more of my friends middle names. The problem is if you sync with Google contacts because Google doesn't have first and last name fields. What you end up with is a name like Bram Van Bergen becoming Bram Bergen, a business like Nokia Customer Service becoming Nokia Service. No a critical functional issue but really annoying.

The last point I want to make is I find the options for alarms and ringtones too restrictive. The vibrate function can be enabled only on a global level (per profile). For a smartphone to be lacking a basic but useful option as this seems a bit ignorant. Ideally I'd like to be able to fully customize each specific alert (email, SMS, call, alarm, etc).

I have a few other niggles here and there but there really not worth mentioning since I can be really picky.

Anyway, it's certainly no iPhone but it does it's job for an entry level smartphone and at €200 it's not going to break the bank.

hey... so here's the deal. i bought this phone the day before yesterday and i started using it yesterday morning when the battery was full (i filled it up - the battery).
But today at around 12am the battery was empty. is that normal?? The battery was dead in approximately 30h..--> I played games for half an hour, played some music (not long), put my friends in my register (half an hour or so)

Is it normal that the battery was dead so quickly??

I was confused like you (5800 or 5530) and after reading many reviews and hearing the advice from 5530 and 5800 owners, I was told that 5530 is better as for performance, but if you want more features and a big phone, Nokia 5800 will suit you.

Main differences is 3G vs. 2g

                                      Also 380.00 AUD (5800) outright
                                      to
                                      199.00 AUD (5530) outright

Much better value for money :-)
