Nuwan, 09 Dec 2009 Dear confused jay, I think your name is jay not confus... moreDear Nuwan,

As ive said on my very first post, the problem is the phone itself, better yet, its OS. my previous phone was an n73 and had had the same problem before. its not the sim since ive tried inquiring my airtime credit through the sims menu (the sim menu is the one sending the message, not through messaging and later on i got my airtime credit info), its not the network since ive already tried using a different phone on my sim.. lets just say that ive done all the basic troubleshooting stuff but still the problem persists. both my n73 and n5630 are symbian phones, so most likely theyd have the same flaw. i also have friends (who owns an nseries phone) encountering the same problem.

sending group messages or a certain message (example would be a quote for the day) to a lot of people in your contacts list at the same time would somewhat trigger the "resending" flaw until you wouldnt be able to send a message at all..

and i dont think having the phone formatted is a solution since ive already tried that one, after formatting, phone would be 'A'-okay, but later on the same irritating problem will occur *sigh*..

we have unlimited texting promos here in our country so why the heck would we enjoy it if the phone itself is defective in the sms category,..

and nuwan, ive been to different nokiacare centers in the country and know what they did? they just formatted the phone.. and after a month or so.... the same thing happens again..

why dont you guys try it, if any of you owns a nokia symbian series 60 phone, try sendin group messages, ud understand my dilemma clearly if youd experience it for yourself..

lastly, i went to a nokiacare center earlier to have the problem straightened out, sad to say, the line of complaining customers where overwhelming that it just discouraged me..

      Dear confused jay,

I think your name is jay not confused jay... Right...?

Anyway as for your question, I really don't have such a problem of sending messages (though honestly I haven't tried group messages yet) also I did not see same error before in this user opinions.

So my suggestion is you better check sending group messages with another phone (using same sim card) too. If the problem is same then it's not a problem with Nokia 5630, it's the network service provider.

If the problem is only with your phone then it must have something to do with firmware version. Did you update your firmware...?

Regarding to updating firmware, please follow my previous comment on updating firmware.

If it's updated, then I think you better go to the warranty claim option... Obviously you should have 1 year software & hardware warranty to your phone and you better use that without wasting time anymore.

Please share with us what happened...

Good luck and best regards brother...

xm, 07 Dec 2009is there a tv out function in nokia 5630? thnx just want to... more
          Dear xm,

No... As far as I know, there's no TV out functionality in Nokia 5630... Sorry...
But I'm alsways wondering why people need that facility at all..
Because for me, TV is not in my list. I use my PC all the time while women in our home use the TV...!
(If there's a movie I really want to watch.. What I do is download and watch it as I want..)
Well... That's my personal opinion though...

shams, 08 Dec 2009how can i increase up my phn memory. I have now only 20 MB.... more
            Dear Shams,

In order to increase your phone memory all you have to do is move the stuff in your phone memory to your memory card. You can do followings.

            1) You may have got plenty of bluetooth messages in your inbox which can be significantly heavy. You can save them in to the memory card and delete the original bluetooth messages in your inbox. (I'm talking about bluetooth messages only. Text messages are very small and no use of deleting them)

            2) Go to file manager and then phone memory... Search for the files inside the folders and if they are not required to be in phone memory (such as videos, images and mp3s) move them to your memory card.

            3) Go to settings - data manager - application manager - installed apps. You will see all the applications that you have installed so far. Sometimes there may be applications that you really don't want. You can uninstall them right away. Or else you can uninstall them and reinstall them again to the memory card instead of phone memory.

By using above 3 methods I could increase my free space in phone memory up to 67 MB... (Now very few third party softwares available in phone memory. All have been installed in memory card.)

Is it really important to have free space in phone memory...?
Hmmmmm... to be honest I really don't know... Because I think this devise has dedicated 128 MB ram and I don't know whether free space is used as a virtual memory (like windows does) or swap memory (like linux does). But anyway I would like to keep significant free space in phone due to personal preference.

Please give us more details about it if there's somebody who knows better...

            Thanks...

Kintoun, 08 Dec 2009Hi there, I'll gettin this phone next week, but there's onl... more
              Dear Kintoun,

Yes... Of course it can play relevant media files (avi, divx etc) and all you have to do is download the divx mobile player. Currently the divx site says it's not available but I found the below link (actually it belongs to their own divx site) so you may copy and paste below url to your download manager and install it to your phone using PC suite. (Very simple)

              http://labs.divx.com/system/files/private/DivXPlayer_S60_3rd.sisx

Yes.. It can play high quality divx videos as they are. But as you may guess, the smaller screen of Nokia 5630 won't allow you to feel the maximum quality though definitely it gives the maximum quality playback. (You can fast forward, rewind, pause etc) And color, contrast, brightness also can be changed... This is awesome and i highly recommend you all to download and install this application as soon as possible.

Actually with this 600 MHz processor if we can't play divx file then what's the use of this phone...?

The preinstalled themes seem very strange, they all have a black background, only different stanby wallpapers! What's the point of calling them themes!
Also a strange thing I'm facing, after disconnecting the charger from the phone, the wallpaper automatically changes to the default wallpaper of the theme applied (doesn't happen though with the preinstalled themes)
                  What's going on!!

                          Dear Friends,

Can somebody who just bought the phone and has not yet copied anything to the phone memory, please help me...

I want to know exactly what is the free space in phone memory when it's brand new with original software only...

If you're willing to buy the phone, please let me know what size is the phone memory... (Please check it immediately after you bought the phone)

Mine has only 53.2 MB free space and I'm just wondering is there any garbage in phone memory to reduce free space to that value... Because i always install programs in to my memory card just to keep my phone memory free...

                          Please let me know...

                          Thanks...

Xeeshan Advani, 07 Dec 2009Assalamoaliqum! I havent recieved any response regarding... more
                            Dear Xeeshan Advani,

I'm sorry I did not see your questions earlier.. Otherwise I would have answered you already.

                            1) Yes... Of course you can format your memory card from your phone itself... It's quite easy. Go to file manager (Main menu - Applications - organizer - File Manager) then select memory card and open it... When you are inside the memory card click options then memory card options then format... (Very easy)

                            2) To change your firmware brother... I don't think you have to be anywhere but in front of a computer which has internet connection... I'm from Sri Lanka and I use my personal Laptop which has internet connection when I'm working in the office and all I do is,
                            a) Install Nokia software updater - You can download it from Nokia website, please make sure it's the latest one...
                            b) Connect the phone (Nokia 5630) to the computer using the data cable (Make sure phone has a sim card inserted and the profile is "general")
                            c) Then proceed with Nokia software updater (you have to do nothing but wait patiently until nokia does the job for you. It'll take 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your connection speed.)

                            3) Of course you can do it by yourself if you have internet in your computer... It's very simple and will not damage or harm to your mobile if you do it correct way. Please follow below instructions.

                            a) Do NEVER unplug the data cable during the process
                            b) Make sure your internet connection is stable and will not disconnect during the process
                            c) Do NEVER use the phone to do anything during the process
                            d) Before start the update you better back up all your sms, contacts, notes etc to your memory card and remove the memory card. (This is really not necessary because several times I did it without backing up my phone and the data was just like before... But I can't guarantee anything because Nokia says "Back up your data")

I think this will be all you want to know... Please let us know if you want something more in detail... (Not only me... There are lot of people out there who would love to help each other anytime...)

                            Best regards and good luck...

The update people are talking about cannot be found on the net. I checked also on Nokia site and there's no track of it.
But we, the users of Nokia 5630 have an option to automatically search for the newest updates available. If your phone is connected to the internet ( WiFi, traffic from provider, etc. ) and you run that app, the phone finds the new update.

                                  Regards!

I'm currently using the phone and LOVE it deeply.

Battery life is very decent based upon following facts.

                                        1) Phone's features (Nokia's fastest processor, wifi, 3G & 3.5G, very beautiful theme effects)

                                        2) 860 mAh battery

With above two facts you shouldn't be expecting a very long battery life my dear friend...

BUT WAIT... IT STILL HOLD A VERY DECENT BATTERY LIFE WITH ALL ABOVE FEATURES...

I'm using wifi all day long... Surf internet about an hour... 10 or more sms, 2 hours of talking, most importantly 4 hours full of music...

With all above, how many hours would you really expect...?
In a normal phone with 860 mAh battery I would expect only 10 hours...!

                                        BUT...
i don't know what Nokia has done to save energy... This beauty lasts for about 2 days...

You decide yourself anyway... I just told my personal experience with my opinion... Hope it'll help...

One more thing... If you need more... There's an option in this phone... "Energy saving mode"

You can activate that... Still you get calls bla bla... But for some reason the battery life increases significantly... (May be reducing brightness and switching off the wifi scanning etc...)

                                        Thanks to Nokia...
