You get one free map for the region the phone was intended for.... Benelux gets the Benelux map, Germany get the German map, etc..
...then you pay. And you pay through the NOSE.
Most non city maps cost $50EUR! All of Europe would be hundreds.

Question1- I read comment from MyPDACafe.com forum saying that Asia Maps give 1 map (South, Central or North Malaysia) free for life for the user. Is it true? Or the navigation function is only for 30days trial? Which one is correct?
Question 2 – Can we download the maps from Asia Maps via PC and install it to phone like Nokia Maps? Is the turn by turn navigation f.o.c or chargeable?

Does any one use the CR-48?
I'm curious... with the speakers in the BACK and the charging connection ON TOP, Nokia has made mounting and charging this thing in the car a real challenge!
Recommendations..?

Are the maps used the same as the V60 maps 66 sells on their main site?
ie: http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=IE&sec=9&ssec=1&prodid=1827
If so, these DVDs are MUCH cheaper. Western Europe is ~120EUR and I paid 50 EUR for just GERMANY!!!
Too expensive.

In regard to: "I've been using my new Nokia 6110 for 3 weeks now and just got my first bill. I'm on the $49 cap. But received a bill for $1,100.00."
I now have the answer from Strathfield Car Radios. The phone was delivered to me set for auto map updates. Strathfield Car Radios changed the settings, Optus will cover the bill and how it should work okay.
Thanks to all.

I personally think that route66 or Nokia should distribute the complete Malaysian map f.o.c to all Malaysian Nokia 6110 Navigator users when it becomes available (a.s.a.p). This is because the current pre-installed map in the phone is not relevant for Malaysian users as it only covered K.L, Johor Bahru and Singapore. I think the current map is meant for Singapore market only. What about Malaysian market? What about users from other state like Selangor, Pahang and Penang? I am sure the sales of this phone model will increase tremendously if my opinion is taken into consideration by Nokia as this is an excellent phone produce by Nokia. My friends hold their decision to buy this phone when they noticed the shortcoming mention above. Or Nokia can consider to lets customer choose one free map according to their own need. Those who want additional map must pay for it. Fair, right? Please consider, Nokia...

Nokia 6110 Navigator - Design, Firmware & Software Inconsistencies - Final Report (28-07-2007):
After using the Nokia 6110 Navigator for 3 weeks, I have detected several problems, which IMHO should be corrected ASAP, if Nokia wants this phone to be a best seller...
Bad/wrong Design:
01-The Volume, Camera and My Own Key buttons are wrongly designed and therefore hard to use/manipulate.
The same goes for the keyboard's buttons that could be bigger if the slider opened a little bit more.
Sliding the front cover to access the keyboard normally turns the GPS on, because your fingers slide and hit that button!
02-Plastic of bad quality (not good to touch, gets greasy with fingertips or face's moisture, not fancy at all)...
The same goes for the display...
03-Celular Antenna bad placed! It gets covered by your hand when you hold the phone blocking the signal...
Bad/wrong Firmware & Software Engineering:
04-You should be able to enter the «Navigator Program» without activating the GPS receiver!
-->Battery discharge time would improve greatly while setting up a route, consulting maps, changing (navigator's) settings, etc. ...
05-It should be possible to hear navigational instructions through the phone's loudspeakers, while talking on the phone by bluetooth!
-->You need to drive with bluetooth switched on so you can legally answer a call while driving (in my country at least), but this way you have to carry your bluetooth device in your ear all the time to hear the GPS's tutoring...
It's not practical (or safe) to activate/deactivate the blutooth and connected bluetooth device everytime you want to answer/make a call.
06-You should be able to activate more then one map simultaneously (with the delivered-in maps, it isn't)!
-->If not, how do you plan a trip from France to Germany (or hear the instructions)? Nokia (or Route 66) forgot about the people that leave near another country!
07-When chosing [Navigator\Navigate\Contacts\Locate] for a correct (portuguese) address like this:
R. do Chafariz, 23-3º Dto (Street, door number, floor)
you receive the message
«No search results. Please check your text string»
If the address is incomplete like this:
R. do Chafariz, 23 (which means no floor information, useless address from a database point of view...)
everything works as supposed!
-->Anyone has a solution?
08-Already 8 crashes (Symbian OS Problem?) in 21 days! To restart the phone you need to take the battery out, most of the time!
It is happening with some consistency when I don't use it for quite a time (6-8 hours) and then receive or make a call:
Case 1 - Aparently everything is working, except for the sound; to have it working again you turn it off and on (reboot) and it gets back to normal...
Case 2 - The phone gets totally stucked - no way back through menus, no reaction to keyboard input, nothing!
So the only thing you can do is to take out the battery and restart (reboot) again so it gets back to normal...
Improving Firmware/Software engineering... :
09-Route66 should improve its maping and route calculation... At least for the Iberia and UK Maps the provided information and algorithm route calculation/planing is most of the time dead wrong, or a bad choice to say the least!
-->Route66 still has a long way to go!
10-You could use the phone's inboard GPS receiver to gather satellite information to different software/hardware applications! Many users would find many uses for lots of applications and devices...
11-Battery capacity is to small for this phone's consumption, specially while navigating! Please improve its capacity... After all this is Nokia's Navigator!
Other major flaws... :
12-Route66 was not the best choice...
Except for the graphics, TomTom's Symbian Navigation Software & Maps are miles ahead! In speed of calculation and accuracy of route planing.
General Conclusion:
If the above matters are corrected (except for 01, 02 and 03, which are impossible to change) and TomTom releases its Symbian Program to work with this model (or Route66 improves its navigation program), the 6110 Navigator could turn to be the best GPS phone money can buy today.
I sincerely hope so, I waited several month to buy one and I'm tempted to return it back because of these real problems!!!
Thanking in advance,
Best Regards,
telele
PS-Besides the above described matters, a very good phone; if corrected (Nokia & Route 66 - Are you listening?) maybe the best GPS Phone money can buy today!
For all the other things that cannot be changed, I wonder how these problems happen in the first place when you spend so much money (and involve so many people) developing a product like this!?
XXIth Century Consumer Society problem? No beta testers? No time to fine tune?
Please don't let me conclude that it was just bad/uncareful/poor engineering!

6110 Navigator - OS Crashes & More Crashes!
Odd nobody reporting crashes with this phone!
Mine already got stucked 8 times in 21 days! I don't know if this is an OS (Symbian) problem or a hardware one... but it seems that is has become usual with Nokia's phones!
- so the only thing you can do is to take out the battery and restart again and again it gets back to normal...
Am I the only one having this problem or using the phone?
Some feedback from other users would be great, don't you think?
After all this is a forum... Right?
Thanking in advance,
Best Regards,
telele
PS - I already reported this to Nokia, which aknowledged my E-Mail but haven't answered yet.

i have gone through this phone with nokia and the way the navi works in regards to cost is
navi is free to view maps etc
but to use the sat nav you have to pay a subscription to use it around £49 a year i think
plus you can also set up your internet on it so while your using it it will keep on connecting to update on traffic alerts and speed camera postions etc
also unless you have download the maps from nokia.co.uk everytime you go onto the maps when it has the internet set up it will start downloading the maps to fill in all the details

In regards to the GPS and you being charged. What you need to do so that you don't get charged is go into applications then GPS Data then click on options and go to position settings. Once there un tick the intergrated GPS with and the network based options and you will be ok. So all you should have ticked is (INTERGRATED GPS).
I Hope that this helps.

I recently got this phone (import) which has the world map installed (pretty useless here).
I paid the £33 and downloaded the UK map from route 66 using the included DVD. This was a bit tricky as firstly I could never get connected to their server which is often VEERRRYY SLOOOWW. The second problem is navigating the map option on the DVD. Let me explain. You have to select Europe, then Western Europe then England AND Ireland insted of just England. You will then see an option to purchase the licence key and download the map. If you click on England UK you cannot download just that map. You have to go into every county and pay seperately which would cost about £200!!!! Great phone just one glitch - Once I have paired the phone to a bluetooth device it seems to have a bug where it wont let you pair another device until it has been hard reset. Im sure this is just a bug in the firmware.
As with other GPS maps - I downloaded Nokia Maps to the phone and it worked a treat with the internal GPS receiver. The only downside is nokia charges a licence if you want to use voice navigation which costs about £5 a month of £40 a year! Route 66 is not as good in my opinion as TomTom but it is good enough for me until TomTom come out with an update.
I would like to add that the internal GPS receiver in this phone is absolutely awesome. I had an external bluetooth BT77 receiver with my old N70 and this little beauty is so much more sensitive. It picks up satellites indoors, in the car and even in the car in my pocket. Well done Nokia - I just love this phone - best buy of the year for me being a gadget man.

I just ordered the Nokia 6110nav online in Australia. So, the Route66 provides me an unlocked Australian map, right? But does it mean it includes all the country side maps or just city centre and major suburbs? Besides that, do I need to transfer the map from Route66's DVD to the handset? In addition, does the Route66 have the Malaysian map?
thanks very much.
