dear sir aatu,
hmm by red light you mean something similar with nseries handsets right? when you record a video there is a red light that you cannot turn off? hehe the only reason why its put there is to let people know that they are being recorded and not for autofocusing purposes hehe
can you disable this redlight btw?

6220, 31 Jul 2008Hi! all
Is this phone use xenon light to record video OR n... moreWell, there is one little red light when recording video, but I don't think it's meant to give light, but more likely something to do with auto focus or red eye reduction (maybe). So basically no video light at all.
I don't know how the normal digital video cameras (or even analog) handle the light, but it probably isn't Xenon.
I think Xenon is based on the idea that a relatively big amount of energy is used to give one short bright flash. As opposed to led, which is able to sustain one constant brightness for a long time with a smaller energy consumption, yet at the expense of illumination. But like I said earlier, the leds are most likely pretty useless even for video usage.
But I don't know this for sure, somebody can google or check wikipedia to make sure...

dharmesh negandhi, 29 Jul 2008what is xenon? In case you still haven't googled it (and assuming you were seriously asking about it):
At the moment there are two mainstream solutions for mobilephone camera flashes:
1. LED light (over 90% use this)
2. Xenon flash (like the one used on real digital cameras)
Well, the Xenon in cameraphones isn't always as powerful as in normal digital cameras, but still wins against the leds 10-0.
The led has the advantage of also using it as a video light. But don't overestimate this as a feature... If you want good photos, then Xenon is worth it (unless you take photos ONLY in daylight, because then you don't need flash at all). Only downside is, at the moment it also seriously narrows down the options. Hopefully phone manufacturers will start to offer it more often in future models.

I already compare with My Nokia N82 with Nokia 6220c at Nokia Store the picture quality are same.
Only this phone lens cover is terrible because a bit harder to open but the phone function are really awesome(",)
Tomorrow going to buy this phone for my wife.

blade, 28 Jul 2008ah tats too bad. shall wait for a proper 6233 successor. al... morere. about the post, by blade.
what do you, mean by the propper successor to the nok 6233, and how long are you prepaired to wait, for the handset you want to come around the corner, in the future. 5 to 10 years time, if you want the verry best mobile handset tech has got to offer either now or in the future, the best choice for now in '08 has got to be nokia's n96!

rajane, 28 Jul 2008For heaven sake dont u ever buy this phone cheap build qual... moreOh? You mean comparable to 3MP in cameraphones or in digital cameras? Either way, I for one was positively surprised about the quality of the pictures taken with 6220c.
And there's no Xenon on N73. (And the Xenon makes a big difference.) I think Nokia has only two Xenon phones: N82 and 6220c. And personally I chose 6220c over N82 because of size. OK, 6220c is also a little bit cheaper and has more comfortable looking keypad...
And to rajoo: There are few sample shots behind the "MWC 2008: Nokia overview" link. And google can help you more. I think the quality is good, but THE LENS COVER IS FAR FROM PERFECT. But I dare to say your wife will like this phone.
At first I was kind of disappointed when I first held it in my hands, but after you put the battery in, it feels more sturdy. But the lens cover, like said above, is a big disappointment, and that feeling probably won't change over time.
If you want a good cameraphone, and prefer it to be Nokia, then 6220c and N82 are in my opinion the best choices. N82 has wlan and better build material, but 6220c is thinner.
