Guys, before I bought my n6230 I've heard so much about the bugs that everyone is talking about that it worried me. But I couldn't resist so decided to buy 1 anyway. So now I've had my n6230 for 2 months now and haven't encountered any bugs at all. Everything works perfectly - the video, pictures, sound, mp3, loudspeaker, voice recorder, etc. My only complaint is that browsing the web is slow and receiving mms messages is not as quick as receiving text messages but hey, this is early days yet for gprs technology.
Well, 2 weeks ago I accidentally dropped my phone into a cup of coffee! Imagine my horror! The phone didn't respond when I tried to shut it down and I haven't mastered removing the back cover yet to remove the battery. So I went to a phone shop to have it removed 10 minutes later. I was advised there that once water gets into the phone it won't work (what about coffee??!!). A colleague of mine who's worked in mobile service centres suggested that I take the covers apart and wash the phone thoroughly in a bowl of water (minus the batt, mmc and sim cards) and shake it to remove coffee particles. He suggested I should let it dry out in the sun or if the sun is not out, in the oven! (heat the oven 200 deg, let it cool down and then stick the phone inside to let the water evaporate) and leave it to dry for a few days. I was desperate so I followed his advise to the letter, drying my phone 10 minutes every day for 2 days in the oven (there was no sun that weekend)! In the meantime, I've asked other mobile phone shops advise and they said they'll have to take the phone apart and dry each part separately and even maybe re-solder the parts and yet there's no guarantee the phone will work. That weekend, I was seriously feeling sad and thinking of buying another phone like an seT630 but asking shop owners' advise with the comparison between T630 and 6230, 6230 still comes up tops in terms of feature and everything! So I was contemplating of buying a new 6230 and spending all that money again if my phone doesn't work...
Sunday evening came and I worriedly switched my n6230 on and voila! It worked! I was so surprised and happy! And until now, no problems. Everything worked perfectly as if nothing ever happened to it. Who knows, it might not work in 1 year's time but what the heck, I'll probably upgrade my phone by then :o) By the way, my phone is v3.15 and made in Asia. I was worried that if I took my phone to the shops to have it fixed (instead of following my colleague's advise) they might replace the parts with crappy ones :O ! So for now, I'm a very happy n6230 user and I wouldn't trade it for any other phone in the market unless they come out with better ones! My colleagues just listened to my mp3s played via the loudspeaker 2 days ago and they were impressed! So I don't know whether it's luck to get a phone that's bug-free or not...

To Yo!
It plays 3GPP files, which you convert from other formats using the bundled software.
To Others:
What difference does it make to software problems when your phone is made in different countries? The software is the same no matter where the phone is assembled! And obviously, some places have strict import laws, and that's why they make it in their own country instead of making it elsewhere and shipping it in.

dear usolim~
fuck ya~ ur 6230 has bad software, that's your problem! Don't insult Malaysia, though it's a third world country, it has good and advanced technologies. So what if a Nokia phone is made in Finland? It will come out with some problems as well! Can u guarantee Nokia phones made in Finland are all perfect? Shit u...stop insulting other countries.

to dude(read carefully)
your 6230 ain't buggy ! hahaha
[the better software (my ass) v3.15]
connect your earphones to the junk
then turn the cheap ass music player and chose to listen to the music from the loudspeaker. what is gonna happen? are you gonna hear the music loud enough from the speaker???
let me tell you what is gonna happen, you are gonna continue to listen to the music from the earphones because this phone has software problems cheeeeap!!!
we used to see made in Finland at the back of our nokia cellphones but now what?
made by nokia (my ass)
which means this phone is made in 3rd world countries to lower the unit price to our company which causes bugs and shitty quality

I got my 6230 2 weeks ago, and it has some software problems! when the earphones are connected to the phone and when I turn the media player and click the option to turn the speaker on, it says it is on! but it is not!!! sometimes when I want to delete a file it says it is deleted but it still stays there and sometimes it just deletes! by the way my software is v3.15 before this phone I had a sgh-e 715 and the picture quality of my old phone was way much better than this junk it is fuck.n fuzzy i this quality! also this phone's covers suck donkey d.ck front one fuck.n moves does not exactly fit to the phone and it is difficult to open the back cover the most annoying part is the phone restarts it self sometimes which makes me mad! I am asking the Nokia fans is this the markets best phone is this world's most popular cellphone company! they pay little amount of money to 3rd world countries to lower the cost of this junk instead producing those phones in Finland they make them in Malaysia, Indonesia and put at the back of the phone made by Nokia! f.ck that shit
PS:I am not a Samsung fan not a S.E. fan I am just a user who changes his phones rarely!

It's been 4 months now and Nokia does not seem to want to release the black cover and keypad for the rest of the world (European models comes with that cover). I'm tired of buying covers only to find that the salesperson has once again tricked me and the cover is actually a fake(the dimensions are slighty different and can be felt when installing the cover). The last cover I got seems to be exactly the same, with the Nokia lettering made with another material instead of the plastic painted with silver paint versions. However, now that I'm home and under bright light, it seems that the cover is not black, but dark blue. But the top part of the cover is black, which is definitely not the other dark blue cover from Nokia. I want to know if anyone actually owns the original out of the box black 6230 and can tell me whether the whole casing should be black or in shades of black and dark blue. Thanks!
PS: another bug found, listen to MP3, get a call, the mp3 pauses automatically. After you hang up, press hang up again (which is supposed to exit the mp3 player) and the phone restarts itself again.

i have the 6230 for more than 4 monnths now, and it aint buggy, the caller group bug was the only issue i had and was immediately solved by doing the restore factory settings...the K700 now has setup their OTA FW upgrade, just more than 1 month and people need to upgarde their K700, which has more bugs now??? K700 also has a slow OS, plus lower RF capability compared to the 6230- RF dept is always has been Nokia's domain..

the nokia is buggy and has a small screen. while the k700i has everything u want, except for the expansion slot. so it depends on wat ur gonna use the phone for.
choose Nokia if ur gonna use it has a phone/mp3player
choose k700i if u want a few songs on the phone(like up to 10 song)

I'm also doubting which phone i should buy, the k700 or the 6230. I do like the sharper en bigger screen of the k700 but the extra memmory from the 6230 lets me rethink the situation...
Does anyone have a suitable argument which lets me make my decision?
