to Nail - r u talking about 3-4 days standby here? My 1 lasts only 2 days max. listening to MP3 30 mins , radio 4-5 hours, Bluetooth 5-10 mins, calls 5 mins or so... i find the battery life to be weak in this phone.
to Eric- why do u think fone companies spend so much on R&D trying to improve the cameras on there phones when there r soo many digital cameras. stupid f**k.. :S

Now you can hate Nokia for selling unfinished phones or love it for improving their phones. As i still didn't buy the 6230,I think i will wait for the improved one.

OK first thing to mention...

I bought a 512 MB TakeMS MMC card to go with it, the Nokia sees it as 80,2 MB but that is no problem, all files on the card (currently I have about 300 megs on it) are read without problems.

OK I'll now type some stuff that comes to mind here, maybe its some help to somebody.
I suppose the looks are nothing more than that... looks... I personally think its design is way cool... one of the nicest designs around, I like it a lot. Its not bulky at all in my experience, how can a phone this size with all these options still be considered bulky! :)
Anyway. Here's some more other experiences:
--SOUND: radio/mp3,aac etc: through the headphones: pretty decent! And I mean DECENT; I'm used to an Ipod. Too bad its not possible to use own headset without braking something open. But standard Nokia headset quality is quite bearable, base and treble are absolutely present.
Equalizer option doesnt do much tho, but again it might be the headset that is the limiting (but not disturbingly so) factor.
Reception quality: pretty ok. I must say my 6150 did sound a bit better... ?
-- handsfree sound: awesome! I could easily hold a conversation with some noise in the background, while the phone was laying backside down on the table and switched to speaker.
-- BATTERY LIFE:
Considering the many options this phone has to offer, battery life is pretty decent. I can do about 3-4 days with a full charge, including occasional conversation and listening to mp3s for a few hours. Right now I've been listening to mp3s for the last 3 hours, and the battery indicator is still at the same level (stripe 3 - halfway). I last charged it Monday morning, its Thursday morning now.
CAMERA: didnt test its quality yet but have been reading its one of the better VGA cameras on phones available currently.
MENU STRUCTURE:
nice, intuitive. media player might have had a bit more options like rew, FF, etc...
Theres a "favourites" key top left on the keyboard that functions as a shortcut menu button, pretty nice.
Calendar options are pretty nice too. Many options.
NEGATIVE:
- main cursor key is a bit wobbly and sometimes you end up browsing "up" or "down" instead of selecting an item (by applying downwards pressure), but you'll get over that. Its not too much of an issue. Over all I think the keyboard layout is pretty OK, given the fact that the key rows differ slightly in height which is a good compensation for their small size to me.
Over all... I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!!

Don't purchase phone in UK. Almost phone will be network locked. Its useless.

don`t compare nokia and sonyericsson! sonyericsson sucks - it may have some nice features but do they really work? nokia is the most "debugged" handset!!! remamber that and take a minute to think about it!

Nokia is a phone ok. Make it clear ok u stupid! Do u know what's the meaning of "handphone"? Stupid!!! What i can describe Nokia 6230 is "Nice, perfect and Nokia seems like grow up already! How can Sony Ericsson be even compared against NOKIA. Stop vandalising this nokia

6230 can record short clips no more than 15 seconds. K700 can record a clip as long as there is memory available. With 41MB memory you can get a clip thats worth watching. Whats the point in a 15 second video clip? Its a useless feature!
I have a full episode of the simpsons on my K700i. Impressive.

The clips themselves look nicely on the screen, most likely due to the screen’s superb quality. They look even better than those who were recorded on Nokia 6230. Upload of video clip from Sony Ericsson K700 to Nokia 6230 showed that Nokia has worse screen, the clip was displayed worse, picture’s quality was not as good as expected. On the other hand such video clip quality can never be recalled as being good you can’t expect much from them. K700’s peculiarity is sensitive microphone, recorded sound’s volume while being played on PC is extremely loud. Video clip’s recording time for our firmware version was limited by 30 seconds, in future versions this limitation may be removed, in that case recording time will be limited only with the amount of available free memory.

What the hell? First of all its clear that nokia 6230 has a better camera and feature over all.I know because i have a nokia 6230 and my sister has a SE K700.Even my sister admits that.By the way this was a tread about nokia 6230 not SE k700 no one really cares about the dam thing any way so thats why these fools going in to other phone areas to get attention i say SE K700 is a shit phone compared to the Nokia 6230 i am sorry you can t accept that even though you know it so just get over.BUNCH OF LOSER

i keep wondering why is it that there are too many bozos who come in the 6230 thread insisting on their equally pathetic K700??? simple the K700 thread has very few pages, which simply means it is not attracting much people, K700 got few takers, so the SE fanatics will try to convince you to join them. hi...anybody can help me with a problem? i downloaded an AVA music file to my nokia 6230 from PC through infra red and i saved it to gallery --> music file. i can set it as ringtone, but only if it's default. but i couldn't set it as ringtone if i set it from caller groups. the msg 'the requested file can't be found' will be displayed. what went wrong?? can anyone please help me?? thanks a lot

Oh my god i can't belive how basic the nokia 6230 phone is, its not even got the game snake!! I've just been comparing it on gsm to my current phone the nokia 8310 what a beast!! it has Predictive text input which means it is really easy to write text messages, also it has Voice command a new type of technology software where if you say someones name to you handset it actually dials it for!! it is out of this world, friends of mine don't waste your time on the nokia6230 it is such a poor phone with really bad features,nokia really has gone down hill! if you want to purchase a new phone check out the sony ericsson k700i!
