the other thin is that it will state that phone memory is full while there is a space on the folders(Why?) And it does not resieve sum images from other phones.

      To BROOK:

I have a few people from this forum express their feelings towards the W810 in comparison to 6230 and each time the 6230 was the said to be the better phone.

Thanks Original_Jamaican. It's the best smal phone nokia and the most complete some SEw810, but nokia is better.

A little correction. Where I said "I have not used" should be "I have used"

My phone DOESN'T have a 'certificates' menu so that simply means you phone uses a older firmware. I have not used 4.44, 5.24. 5.35 and 5.50 and never came across that particular menu.

I use Opera Mini too. It's a wonderful browser. What would be more wonderful right now is if our NETWORK PROVIDER gave us free internet access (smile).

              To JOENAVS:

The Nokia 6230 can handle up to 2GB but it would be best to have firmware v5.24 or later otherwise a 2GB MMC might be glitchy.

The only way to really improve the quality of video recording is by transferring the recording to a PC, then use a 3gp software like Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 or Allok Video to 3G Converter. Set the bitrate to a minimum of 128kbps. Nokia Converter 2 maxes out at 128kbps and Allok maxes out at 512. Once you set it to 128 or higher you should see a discernable difference...in some cases you may not but try my suggestion. Hope this works out for you.

                To BROOK & HILDEBRANDO:

YES the Nokia 6230 supports 512MB and 1GB MMC memory cards. If you search back earlier posts you will see where I went in-depth many times about this same topic. Search away for more info (smile).

Hi o.j. and fellow 6230 users, the security module i was talkin about can be found when u go to menu>service>settings>security settings> certificates. I know use my phone to browse this website and i use opera mini browser. Browsing on this phone is very fast and i like that but i prefer the opera browser to the phone's browser because with the opera, it compresses the kbs & gives a clearer view of how the pages look like. Also, i listen to music using my nokia bh 200 headset so i dont know the use of the AD2P profile. My phone was made in 4-2004.

                    Dear jamaica,
i've been reading your reviews with 6230..honestly i think it's the best nokia phone ever! i have mine for 2.5 yrs now, and it still runs like brand new! i just have 2 question: first, what's the maximum MMC memory it can handle? (256, 512, or 1 gb?) i upgraded mine with 128 mb...with 53 music tracks in ti (AAC format). second, how can i improve the quality of my video recording? is there a software upgrade available? thanks in advance, regards, joenavs

yes! another thing...6230's got the best and the fastest responding keyboard/pad in planet GSM...i love this phone so much...i know it's going to be a classic. i hope nokia will release a special limited edition 6230 classic soon...i'm dying for one! but for the moment...i'm not trading my 2.5 year-old 6230 for anything, i might buy a new phone, but this old buddy's gonna stay with me forever! this is the best phone i've ever had (though not the most expensive)...congratulations! nokia... 6230 is king!

hey! i love this phone! for me it's one of the best phones nokia built...it's small, simple sleek design. it's like a BENZ in cars..simple,yet classy! it's way ahead of it's time...it's easy to use..and it responds quiet fast! (faster than most modern phones - even faster than N70, my wife has one)...i had this for 2.5 yrs now, and i'm not planning of replacing it! EVER!

                              To BEN:

                              You ask some tough questions.

First of all, NO, NO, NO all files received through bluetooth or Infrared, is automatically saved in the phone memory.

Secondly I very much doubt you will be able to find a 3rd party player capable of playing mp4s as the format wasn't hardwired in the phone. However, I should note that some MP4 files will work BUT it has to have H.263 tracing in it. For example you can use a program to encode a file in MP4 format but you would have to encode it using a codec called H.263 otherwise it WON'T work with the 6230.

Thirdly I don't know what 'Security Module' you are talking about. Where did you here about this ?

Hi o.j and all 6230 users, I've got some questions about this fon I'd like u to answer. Can i save received bluetooth items directly on to my memory card without using the fon's memory? If yes how? Also, is there any app that i can install on my fon to play mp4s. Finally, what is security module and how do i access it.

You did NOT read the accessories page carefully. The link I sent you was a direct link showing the accessories the 6230 supports. The VERY FIRST accessory on the page is a BLUETOOTH WIRELESS HEADSET. In fact, almost all the accessories on that page is a bluetooth headset. Check again.

Thanx OJ for ur reply!!! i checked the compatibilty list and it seems that it doesnt support wireless bluetooth headsets!! but it i guess it has a facility to insert an audio adapter with the help of which one can connect any 3.5mm headset into the 6230:) !!

                                      1. To connect to external speakers you would need an adapter. Check Nokia's site for the necessary adapter at: http://europe.nokia.com/all_accessories?phoneid=746

That Nokia website link is a direct link for 6230 accessories

                                      2. I should think the 6230 supports stereo bluetooth wireless headsets BUT you CAN'T play music through a bluetooth headset due to the lack of a bluetooth profile called A2DP...which is acceptable for this phone seeing that it was released over 3 years now. Once again, check Nokia 6230 accessories page for compatible bluetooth headsets.
