used it for almost a year. relatively small with many features. very fast response to inputs, no waiting required. i like the stereo fm radio, the quality of sound is good with a headset. its tones are also very loud which can be adjusted. the memory is more than enough for me with just the included 16MB MMC.
i'm just disappointed with the camera. the resolution is average but the colors are very bad because pictures are bluish in my unit. when printed or transferred to pc, it has same inaccurate colors. i've seen other phone models with vga camera, and they've better colors.
buy 6230i instead, or other brands if you'll buy this unit for the camera.

I bought this great fone about three months ago but i wasnt able to get mp3's into it because i didnt have the cable. Eventually my laptop came back from repairs and i transferred some mp3's into it via infrared. i couldnt believe my ears when i played the mp3's. of course i knew that the sound from the 6230 was good but i didnt expect it to bee that amazing. This is surely going to save me the cost of an i-pod. YAY!!!!!!!!!

Been using this since last year.
It's a good phone, but the screen is a bit small. (128x128 pixels). Battery life could have been better, but I guess it's a trade-off for the 65k colour TFT-screen and all. It is fast (cool games), has a good keypad, is easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space.
Anyway, now that the 6230i is out, this model is obsolete.

Tasha, it is 'global' enough for me. I live in M'sia and traveled to USA & Japan just recently... tri-band served me well! Viva tri-band!

i think this is by far one of the best handsets on the market [if not the best] the only thing this doesn't have is a flip and the fact that is not global[quad band]
but i have went i first heard of it i scooped it up and it works perfectly i love it
is nokia going to make a different vision of this handset[besides the 6320i]?
i work in telecommunitcations and when recommening a handset i recommend the nokia 6230

Nokia Mia,
Can you please kindly describe to me briefly how the box of Nokia 6230i distributed by authorized Ziton looks like? This is because i scare that i will be cheated by some of the unscrupulous proprietors. Thank you... you are really a great mobile savvy...A kudo for you.//

Christine,
My 6230 and 6230i are a joy to me. No doubt about that. The battery last (for my usage) only 2 days for me. But I desktop charger and charge my phone every night, so, no problem. Sound of 6230/6230i - superb of course. Lagging? 6230 is QUICK as lightning. 6230i is slower. But lagging is not a problem in the 6230 family.

I have no regret getting the 6230 and then afterthat, 6230i. Both are great phones. I'm just dissapointed that 6230i is not such a big advancement over 6230. The only advancement is the Display & the USB Hard-drive feature.
IF you've never had a 6230, then my advice, head straight to 6230i. Because 6230i is the best mobilephone out there. Only 6230 user will feel 6230i is a dissapointment. Other will love 6230i.
7610 is in the Symbian Smartphone category. I don't want a Smartphone as I already have a PDA (which I rarely use) and a laptop (which i carry around a lot). Furthermore, smartphones are bulky and the excitement (generally speaking) only lasts a month or so. Afterthat, smartphone users just use the phone just like a normal mobilephone. So, I got the plain mobilephone of 6230 - strong selling point: mainly because of MP3 playback, bluetooth and expandable memory. (Watching movies? Seriously, how can you enjoy watching movie on such small display, be it mobilephone or smartphone?)

Christine,
DOn't get me wrong, 6230i is still the best mobile-phone out there. Only when a comparison made to 6230, the 6230i loses out.
Font Size
6230 able to give small font in Web-browsing, NOtes, To-do-list and also SMS. 6230i font is depressingly bigger.
Camera
6230 able to give good quality 640x480 picture. 6230i only manage to give so-so quality at 1280x1024 size.
SMS
WHen reply SMS in 6230, you able to select pre-written template e.g. OK, THank you etc. THis feature not available in 6230i.
Menu Browsing
6230 is blazing-FAST! 6230i is slower than 6230. Which is such a dissapointment.
MP3 Music Player/Radio
6230 Music player & Radio Menu control can be controlled using the navigation button (up, down to change song / Station, left, right to stop/play). In 6230i, need to navigate left/right and change the cursor to either Previous/Next/Stop/Play. Such a DOWNGRADE.. gone is the ease of use!
GPRS/MMS Setting
It's easier to set your setting in 6230. Definitely.
Weighing all these, makes the 6230 a lot better than 6230i. But once you see the display of 6230i.... you will MELT! It's one of the best display all around.
