I believe you can go update your firmware's through a website and a special program for it not tru your pc suite
it is highly recommended though, that you should update your firmwares tru your authorized nokia service centers as only a slight mishap could cause your fone to be unusable
like while updating the electrical power suddenly went out...it would cause your fone to be unusable or when the cable with which your fone is connected suddenly got loosen and unplugged the device from your pc while you are updating it will instantly destroy your fone
sooo get it updated via service centers please...

To Symbian... can we update the 6233 software through Nokia website using PC SUITE...? or we have to do that through authorised service centers only??

symbian is an operating system just like your windows in your pc
that makes your fone capable of running alot of 3rd party applications making it alot more like a personal computer fone
non symbian fones are only restricted to "java" applications or to whatever the fone manufacturer makes as an application for it
6600-6630-3650-7650-7610-3230-3250-6680-n gage, some siemen mobiles and the p800 to p990i all run the symbian operating system
making them a legitemate "smartphone"
6230-6233-6280 are non symbian or "non smartphones' though they coulb best be described as "multimedia phones" for they are capable of playing alot of media
though smartphones could just download the codec and play even dvd files
the non smartphone series 40 is like a video game console built to kick ass from the start
usually has better hardware than smartphones though their software is limited

i hv a prob using 6233.... it does'nt accept ot tansfer any file to motorola hansets...n how can i get themes??? plz help me out

I forgot to tell you that www5.ownskin.com themes are downloadable using wap. so take note of the number/code assigned to the theme..
if u use ur phone to access ownskin, try typing wap.ownskin.com and when the site loads on your phone, the window prompts you to provide the code.. or there is a procedure on the site on how to donwload themes through wap..try checking if the site also has a forum, you can get useful tips there..
so, you have to pay for the cost of wap services thru your provider.

Hey guys.I got the chance to test this phone and i must say its good,very good.And the best part of this phone is its music.Its speakers r damn loud.By the way migs,u r wrong abt 1 thing.Nokia 6233 is not a symbian phone.S40 means series 40.Thus s60 means series 60,s80 means series 80.N6233 runs on nokia series 40 3rd edition operating system.On the other hand s60 and s80 both runs on symbian os.SIYONARA.

Your recording sounds but after saving it and during play back, your recording is suddenly cut and stopped.. is that right?
MAYBE, you don't have enough memory on your phone? or if yo do, then i guess this is a bug on your phone and you need to update the firmware.

That's great! I just found out that 6233ME supports A2DP too! Good thing firmware 4.91 included this function.. I haven't tested this yet.. i hope others will confirm if 4.91 is able to use a2dp!

Nokia 6233 is a symbian phone.. Symbian 40 that is (s40)... Other phones are Symbian 60 (s60), Symbian 80 (s80), etc.
phones on S40 are not prone to virus.

Just search using google. I'm sure you'll find a lot of sites offering applications.. but the problem is.. you still need to test it using your phone...
Just be careful, some applications may harm your phone.

CJ: antivirus? Are u joking? Only symbian phones support antivirus applications. And 6233 is NOT a symbian phone.

A2DP..is a bluetooth profile. You can connect your phone to a bluetooth stereo headset(to listen music with an excelent sound). If a phone doesn't support this profile, it can connect only to a mono bluetooth headset. And 6233 with the latest firmware (4.91) has this profile. That's the coolest thing with this firmware.

Yes, it does support A2DP profile (with the latest firmware 4.91). I have tested.
