I got this phone yesterday after much debating in view of bad reviews that this phone recieved. And I'm pleased to say that it's fantastic! The best phone I've ever had.

6233i is on release,withimproved features esp fonts size,but chinese copies n market have ruined its image at qtr the price.Nokia must do legal action other wise any new cell would be copied,with more accessories like twin batteries,128 card desktop charger extra cover is what u get ====

Anybody could tell me how can I postpone (snooze) the calendar reminder for 20 or 30 minutes.
Current snooze is only 10 minutes which is too short.
Hope somebody could help me..!!

Agree with MIGS. One shouldn't need to update the phone's firmware if the current version is already working well, unless the new update offers improvements or critical fixes.
I'm still hoping the the backlight duration issue can be addressed but I'm not hopeful. Nokia hardly listens to customers.

1) can any buddy tell me whts MPEG4 means? is it mpg or mp4 video?
2) How can we convert a 3gp file to mpg? is there any free software?
3) If i want to save a complete DVD in my card, which format will be better, 3gp or mpg etc.? which will give a good result in a small size?

About firmware..
Why does each country differ in firmware?
I have read from different forums that a number of firmwares have been released:
4.52, 4.92, 5.92, etc..
I haven't updated my firmware.. and i've also read from other forums that no big changes have been made to the phone..
Firmware is a set of programs that provide enhancements on the phone's software and in turn provide better features or enhance the current ones. I think its more appropriate to call this "FIXES" rather than firmware.. Coz so far, as i've stated above, there is no dramatic change in the firmware for this phone.. and updating the firmware DOES NOT GUARANTEE that the problems you are having now with your phone will be solved.. who knows, you might experience bigger problems. Maybe all you need is to reformat your phone and re-install the current firmware.
So my advice, don't update until a better firmware has been released.
Im urrently running on firmware ver 3.7.
(to get the firmware verion type *#0000# )

As far as i know, there is no j2me or flaslite program that has been created to record mp3. But there is a nice "composer" application where you can compose tones like the old days using a nokia 3310. =>
btw, i'll be posting my 2n batch of games and applications suited for the nokia 6233 on my blog site.. just visit from time to time...

6280 is more expensive than 6233 6233s price is in uk pounds £180-200 6280s price £230-50

the COVERS CAN be changed on 6233 but it has to be taken to a phone shop to do it i think??

i dont know yet i havent showed my friends yet to nervous to show it to them becuse of its design >>> i got this phone 4 months i showed my cousin it my cousin has a SE K750i the stereo speakers on this phone made him red then he got jealous big time and then the camera iv compared to k750i 6233s camera is clearer in resolution

To alan. this is not the cheapest 3g phone. 6630 is. also 6280 is cheaper than 6233 :)

Well, after boiling it down against the Nokia 3250, SE W700i, and even the SE W810i, believe it or not guys, this is the phone I'm getting. Reasons for me getting it:
- Beautiful Big Screen, it's 240 by 320
- VGA at 15 FPS video! What was that, if I wanted 30 FPS I need to get an N93? No thanks.
- SE Phones tend to be buggy, like the fact that long song titles don't scroll when playing (what the christ?!), and many other small but really annoying details that will be a factor in the long run.
- Uses a standard MicroSD format card, up to 2GB!
- Cheapest 3G phone that I can get
Here are some reasons which prevented me from getting this in the first place, but after much thought, turned out to be NOT A FACTOR:
- No video calls (when video calls become standard, I'd have a new phone by then)
- Ear phones included are nowhere near the SE ones, but hey, with the 3.5mm adaptor, I can use my Sennheiser ones!
- S40 OS, I really liked the S60 Task Switcher, it made multi-tasking a dream
So my friends, I hope that you find my opinion helpful, as it took me a week of considerable weighing for me to reach this decision.
