Tim, there are a few of here with v4.52 firmware, so v3.70 is not the latest. I have v4.52 and am in Australia, but am not with "3". I bought the phone in early August from Optus.

mobileguru, my D-pad is not creaky, but it does satisfy my aesthetics.

I have been using this phone for 2 weeks and quite satisfied with its overall functions. My only complaint is about its D-Pad, which does not seem to work well when pressed upwards. Plus it is creaky and does not satisfy your aesthetics. Please tell me if I am the only one having this problem or any of you guys have also experienced this problem with the D-Pad. Thanks

Its a very good fone. I love it.

              A few questions friends, if you can answer them;

Will the 1Gb micro sd card slow down the fone or create any other problems? I am using the 64mb one provided with the fone. So deciding whether to buy 1Gb card or 512mb.

My 6233 tends to heat up a bit while playing around/ scanning around with the fone. Any other 6233 users having the same prob? .

              thank you in advance

Firstly, thanx to this site for helping me in deciding to get a Nokia 6233 for myself.

The 6233 is a very nice piece. I love it. Its got a lovely soft feel to it. Wish it had a flash for the camera.
One thing thats bothering me is that with about 15 mins of playing around with the fone, it tends to heat up a bit. Do any of the other users experience such a prob? What could be the reason?
Will a conectivity cable CA 42 work?

One IMPORTANT Suggestion from U guys\gals:
Do I get a 1 GB micro SD or 512mb for my 6233? The only thing is that the fone should not have any problems or become too slow.
                Pls post ur experiences friends
                Thanks in advance.
BTW The fone does have a Calculator, check the ORGANISER in the Menu.

Thought I would answer some of the questions asked throughout this forum. The Nokia 6233 has a hot-swappable MICRO SD card slot located on the side of the phone. I have a 1GB card and I have setup the phone to store all media directly to the card. The difference between a micro and mini SD card is that the micro is smaller - the micro was designed specifically for mobile devices. You can only use the micro SD card in the phone.

The available options for the camera are as follows:
Image Quality (High, Normal and Basic)
                    Image Size (5 sizes: 160x120 to 1600x1200)
Video Quality (High, Normal and Basic)
                    Video Res (4 sizes: 128x96 to 640x480)

You can record video directly to your Micro SD card so with 1GB you could record for a while!

You should be able to find a calc application for your phone on the internet and use a connectivity cable and Nokia pc suite to install it.

As far as I’m aware there has not been an update of the firmware. The latest version being 3.70 (RM-145) - to find out what version you have enter *#0000# into your phone. I have heard of people getting firmware version 4.52 but I was unable to confirm - it may just be a specific firmware for the 3 mobile carrier in Australia?

You can not fast forward or rewind during play of video clips.

This would no doubt be great phone when they release a new version of the firmware that fixes all the bugs. If you plan to use a larger micro SD card you will often run into issues when performing large data transfer tasks. During or soon after performing these tasks seems to cause spontaneous restarts. I have also had issues with the phone making a hissing sound rather than ringing but returns to normal after I turn the phone off and on again. Running applications or switching to camera mode will also cause the phone to just restart. I experienced simular issues with my previous phone (Nokia 6230) - again I think it was due to using a larger memory capacity card.

The music player on the 6233 has improved - you can fast forward - but it has a long way to go before getting close to the functionality of the Sony Ericsson walkman phones - although I have to say audio quality and PC connectivity is excellent.

i have a 6230i and plan to upgrade to the 6233. i have a few doubts in mind. does the 6233 have the voice recording or dictaphone feature like the 6230i (u could record over an hour on voice in the phones memory, quite an help takig notes at ocassions). except for the 3G fetures is it worth upgrading as we donot have 3G network support yet. does the 6233 also have the same ascending ringertones and the sms tones like the 6230i. are the tones loud with the dual stereo speakers( do they really work?)

How do you make a video call if there only 1 camera on the back? does this mean only the caller can see you. Maybe you'll need to carry a lil mirror with you ;)

                                        Hi!
I think, over all the phone is very good than my previous 7250i.
But I have some doubts about it. Is it possible to fast-faward or fast-rewind during Video playback?
Also the SIS application are not compatible with this phone and very few JAVA applications are interesting.
