Beware phones sold on ebay though, often claimed as brand new but they are refurbished

I really love this phone. I once lost it, can't use another, so i purchase it. Can anyone tell me how to upgrade to the latest firmware 5.60 realese? I go around telling how sleek Nokia 6233 is. its so......

This phone really worths its money. Very robust and reliable. If you don't need all these fancy things the smartphones can do, then this is your phone. It would be good, for someone who knows how to do it, to upgrade to the latest firmware 5.60 released by NOKIA.

To the poster called 6233 User, that is another excellent post (doesn't matter if it's reposted 10 times.
I am being offered all kinds of new 2009 mobiles on my Vodafone plan and have rejected them all to buy a 4 year old 6233 due to the very impressive sound quality, user friendly buttons, pretty looks :) etc.
So many of the new Nokias i have experimented with have cheap radio sound! Several IPhone users admit my 6233 has stronger and crisper sound quality than arguably the most popular mobile in the world! :) Fotios

hi :)I've been using this phone for the last 3-4 years. I must say that I'm very happy with it's performance.I've had absolutely no problems with it, it has never crashed or restarted iteself.
Sadly the battery last now only 1,5 days, even if I make only one call during that period. I did change the battery with a new one, but that didn't fix my problem, so I'm considering to buy a new and newer nokia :)
However, if u're looking for something cheap, functional and tough (i dropped it a few times and nothing was broken), this one is 4 u.

just i agree that nokia 6233 is a exeptionally wonderfull handset. i am using it since 15 months. but now i am facing a serious problem. it keeps switching off offenly. nokia people have done software upgrading. but not solved. i think it is a hardware problem. can anybody help me that where i can get it repaired perfectly at bangalore?

i m using 6233 from last 1 year now i m getting problem in backlight option .somebody tell mee how can i switch off the backlight it always remain lightened.

It's simply superb in comparison with the like of its age and standards. Now as I am considering upgrade (not because the 6233 is no more usable but I need to change something of myself at last in four years), I cannot find any of the new nokia models that would impress as much as the 6233 has. And that's why I may go for Blackberry 8900.

Hi guys,
i am using this phone for the last 1 year,but now sometimes it does not read the memory card,i have to re insert the memory card, it works fine for few weeks then again same problem,once after re inserting memory card i found few folders got deleted automatically.
is this the problem of memory card or set ??

hmmm... read this if u have 6233. a long comment from me, but i think it worth to be read. This is the 4th time I post my SIMILIAR comment, but again, for this one, I added some updates to catch up with recent issues ‘bout this phone. But still, my comment will always admire this phone.. well.. it’s just a comment, u may agree or disagree with me.. peace!
Now I've used this phone for almost 2 year, but i've known this phone for a long time before i bought it. My opinion?? what a great phone.. considering its affordable price and its age which was almost 4 years since the release date, Nokia 6233 is STILL COMPARABLE to the new sets released by Nokia recently..
Don’t compare 6233 with the recent smartphones such as E63, E66, E71, E75, E63, 5800, etc which have advance features such as the Accelerator (for auto rotate screen), WiFi connection, 16M colours, 3-5megapixels camera, etc. These models are released 4 years after 6233… they can’t be compared to our 6233.
But anyway, 6233 is just perfect.. some points i've notes:
First, 6233 has a SUPERB stereo sound quality, both in loudspeakers and headset, even it can be matched with the new Nokia 5800, SE W-series, N73, N95 stereo speakers and it even performs better quality.. (just try to SET the equalizer by urself, and u'll find its superb stereo sound). *I realized that 5800 may has LOUDER sound, but for the quality? Just compare it by urself, and u’ll know that 6233 still has better sound quality (clear vocal, music instruments, etc). **SE W-series? Not even CLOSE to this phone.. even they always claim that they’re music phone.. But hey, don’t get mad for SE lover, just see my tag above, this comment is for 6233 USER.. ^^.
Second, i think 6233 is the only ONE nokia phone which has Pure and Original Chrome material on all around its body, u can proof it by urself, try to scratch the chrome surface, and it will be still chrome, it's NOT a paint. (instead of cheap chrome-looking PAINTED body in the recent models e.g E71, E66, etc the chrome on those models will be faded by itself in a short time, because they are only PAINTED).
Third, What a long life of batteries, for a normal and daily use, Minimum battery life is around 3-4days. *I’ve read a comment lately that said this phone can’t reach that batteries life, my question, are u sure?? For normal use after 10 months usage, my 6233 battery life still around 3-4 days.
(Without turning in the music player a lot, Without taking pictures a lot, Without do a lot conversation AND Set your Network mode properly, if in ur area 3G is not available, CHANGE ur network to GSM mode instead of 3G, the phone will always search for 3G network, and it used a lot of battery power)
Fourth, a user friendly bar phone.. try it by urself, try to write a message, in short time, u'll notice that the keypad and phone size is ergonomic.
Last.. I won't mentioned about the 6233's 2MP camera quality, CONSIDERING that in its time, about 3-4 years ago, it has already good quality of 2 MP camera, Don't compare it with the latest 3-8 MP camera.. it's not fair.. nevertheless, it has good quality of VGA Video too.. Remember this phone is already 4 year old. For simple example, I’ve compared 6233 to the new 5800, E71, E66, for daylight and outdoor pictures, 6233 is better that those phones, BUT Don’t compare it with the indoor and lack of light condition, SURELY 6233 picture quality won’t be as good as theirs. Why? It has no Flash, autofocus, and some of the models has 3MP! So, it’ll be incomparable to 6233. Don’t forget to compare the PRICE and AGE.
*Some of the comments also said, the video can’t be rewind or fast forwarded, it‘s quite ridiculous, Hey.. 6233 was originally not a MULTIMEDIA phone type, u should know it.. This feature were only found at the recent advanced multimedia phones..
Except the most recent features in new Nokia’s smart phones models, this 6233 is still the best, considering its brilliant built quality, very complete features in its time and it’s astonishing sound quality.
So once again, be proud of ur 6233 phone! It's a really great Nokia phone.. 'waiting for its successor from Nokia..
