Thanks Leela, I'll try your tip. According to specs the 6234 has a BP-6M-S battery. My phone has a BP-6M. Is there any difference?

The battery of the Nokia 6234 is a linthian Battery so that means when you charge your phone your requires you to switch it off and charge for a total of 5 hours then you swith it back on to charge for another 2 hours then you will see this phone can last up to 7 days max without charging depending on whether you use it alot. I have this phone anf the longest time that i used it with charging it is 9 days.

I am thinking of buying a 6234 as its on sale here in New Zealand, but what do people mean by "the backlight goes out after 5 seconds"? Does this mean the keypad that is lit up, or the display screen?

Reading through many pages of comments here, people seem to want a full featured perfect phone for a low price. Hey, if you want the best then be prepared to pay a lot more. The other phone I am considering is the SE k800i which has a 3mp camera with flash and user-facing camera for true video calling, and it costs $350 compared to $300 for the 6234. I don't think the k800 has stereo speakers like the 6234 but that is no big deal for me. Although I won't use video calling, I might do so if my wife upgrades her phone so the k800 is better in this regard.

Battery : one thing I do not like about the 6234 is the poor battery life - some people have to charge every 2 or 3 days. The k800 has longer battery life - my current SE k300i lasts at least a week and up to 2 weeks and it would be a pain to have to charge a phone often. Maybe those complaining about the short 6234 battery life have not bothered to adjust the settings to low power consumption.

I am very unsattisfied with my new 6234. I have to recharge the battery at least every second day whereas my previous nokias lasted up to 6 or 7 days. My son also have a new 6234 with the same problem. According to the specs it has a standby time of 300 hours ! - definetley not in practice !

This phone it's good, the sound it's cool, but the camera it's junk. For 2 mpx, the pictures aren't to pretty. I cannot understand becouse it's a vga camera, but i think the software it's the cause. Anyway this phone is worthing the price , for it's performance, and the battery it's verry good, 4-5 days. I give it a 9.

it has got a media player which can play mpeg-4 clips and 3gp videos and play mp3 files. Thats about it. You have to convert you movies into the above two formats.

2 put the memory card in the PC, you need 2 things.

                                        1. Micro SD Adapter
                                        2. Card reader.

Put the micro sd card on the micro sd adapter then put your adapter on your card reader. then put it on your usb slot on your pc.

I suggest you buy a multi-card reader (5-in -1, all in one)so that you can also use it for you other gadgets like video cams, other phones.
