My answer
1)The phone will shut down itself and turn back on if you press the button too fast, e.g., zoom the picture/mute the video before it is completely loaded.
2)It doesn't come with a USB cable as Vodafone is tight@ss. so the better thing to do is... (only for transfer music/pic/vdo/.txt files), take your MicroSD card out -> put it in a cardreader -> connect to your pc. you might need a adaptor as some cardreader doesnt support micro SD. you can get a microSD to SD daptor when you buy a new microSD card (it always comes with the microSD card for free.. but not your phone)
3)Backlight will turn off very soon if you choose the energy saving mode.
My Questions:
1)Am using the 64mb incl in the box. it goes "unable to save file" when i take a pic/video if i have like.... 8mb left..
2)I can't read some of the websites..
3) is it worthwhile to spend couple of mins to install the software and buy a Nokia USB cable so i can sync my notes on the phone
with Outlook (so i don't need to type the notes again)
Am aussie and I am working in a outsource partner of Vodafone.

I have had the Nokia 6234 for 2months and it is one of the greatest phones I have had yet, as I am a nokia fan. You should not have a problem with this phone if you read your user manual. Better than the Nokia 6680 and N70 as I have also owned both, yeah yeah I'm a phone freak

Can anyone tell me why it won't let me save any more than four photos? Every time I go into images now it says 'memory full' and I have only taken 4 photos.

i have the nokia 6234 and i have alot of ringtones and stuff like that it makes it very slow and it is hard to hear people when you are talking. texting is sometimes very slow but gets there after a while and i only have the phone for 4-5 weeks and have being in to the phone shop at least 4 times my advice about the phone is if you want to buy it you should buy it but you can,t really put and downloads on to it and plus it is not worth the money could be better. there is much better nokia phones then this

Great as a radio crap in every way as a phone. The poor display and the difficulty in hearing make it the worst mobile phone experience I've encountered since using mobiles. I'm also getting frequent occurrences of no network coverage. I'm going into Vodaphone on Monday and if they can't remedy my displeasure both Nokia and themselves are going to lose my custom for ever. Don't go anywhere near this piece of absolute garbage.

a 6234 is the upgraded 6230i this phone to answer a couple of questions at the main menu the screen stay lite for 15 sec then elsewhere 8 secs its standard on all nokia phones its just there is no adjustment secondly it is not designed to go in a car kit as it has no cradle fitment. its a great unit for the price a 2mpixel and 3g handset similar features to a 6280 or 6288 but cheaper and much more stylish.
reception issues i would say you have a bad unit like any manufacturer there are production issues with all phones or supplier issues eg lg batteries sony software nokia software every electronic device has issues with software the sooner we get to 3g we can download the newest software directly from the manufacturer thats just my thoughts but you make up your own mind

I think it's a great phone and its very cheap in my country. But:the reception it's very poor and the back light lasts only a few seconds and that's anoying. Video mode it is great because it's vga.

I bought yesterday this phone and I like it very much,but it doesn't have flash at camera,but it works good in music player and I like the sound stereo at this phone. The problem is how I use 3g because it has only a camera.Maybe I stay in front of a mirror.

dont know if my handset is broken. does anyone know how to make it so the keys light up cos i cant get the backlight on the keys to work. is there a setting im overlooking

Look at first in the setting network, is that 3G or GSM or both?
I think about one possibility,maybe your 6234 is in 3G so that's why poor reception in 3G (unless 3G network in your place is good, than my thinking is wrong).
If your 6234 setting network is also in GSM and stay poor reception, I advise you to change it to your supplier.Maybe you get bad handset production.

I got one of these as a company phone, not as good as my old trusty Nokia 3100 as the reception is terrible, just transferred my Vodafone SIM and noticed right away poorer reception, eg at my desk with 3100 no problem, 6234 no network! and it drops calls and text take a long time to get to it.great looking but does not work well as a phone

i have brought this fone from vodafone
they gave me an already formated battery and not li-ion but li-polimer(BP-6M not BP-6M-S)they also didn't gave me a data cable or a card adaptor.I think they tricked me

This phone has the worst sound (tone) of any phone I've ever had. Everyones voice sounds high pitched and screechy, particularly when using the hands free in the car.

Just regarding Nokia Managers comment about reading the manual....can you tell me which page tells about the phone powering off during media playback? If you can't, then maybe you should look through everyones queries individually and give a factual answer rather than jumping in with a stupid one......
