Nokia 6280. Just bought the phone, and it seems ok. I would just like to point out that whoever beta tested the handset needs sacking. This is the problem: Write a text message, put a contact in the contact field, then go to the message, then send the message. Decide that you dont want to save the message, and then try to clear the message. click on clear on the right button, and the get intensely p*ssed off as the cursor goes to the start of the message, just in front of the first character in your text. using the navigation key you scroll very very slowly down to the end of the message and you try again, only to find that the bl**dy thing does it all over again.. You could go to options and use the "clear field" option, but what if you didn't want to clear all of it??? Otherwise a great handset but battery life is not the best it could be.
Why do Nokia release these phones without bothering to iron out little niggly problems first. If they just cant be bothered then send me a sample handset and ill do it, for free too. End of whinge... for now!!
Are you listening Nokia???????

Does this phone have good quality stereoheadset (volume level, bass, no nosie)? Is there any application that allaws viewing .txt and MS Office doc and .pdf files on this phone?? Does anyone try to use another stereoheadset (does volume level depend on type of headset)???

          Hi,

The specs on this site state that the phone book can hold "500 x 16 fields". Is it really only 500 contacts, or is this illustrating the total storage capacity i.e. can you have 1000 x 8 fields? I have more than 500 contacts so that could be a factor when I look at upgrading (in about a month or so).
          Thanks,

          Jon.

              To Shayn

Very, very good.. Shayn, you know that in 2089 will release N405 with 1000GB.. are you ******* or what... if everybody though like you, nobody bought a phone.. You buy a phone, thinking which phones will release 3 years after... Oh, can you tell me; when do you think you'll die.. people don't use to live more than 100 years, you know.... Simply buy a phone, whitout thinking on phones that will release then... Think in the moment.. and NOW Nokia 6280 is one of the best on the market...

              Very very good phone...

The Nokia 6280 is an excellent phone but howerver i would go for N80 or N91 which are more better. Ive heard rumours aboot Nokia 6290 n Nokia 6280i n where da Nokia N101 or sumting like dat will have 12 - 14 GB of memory onboard da phone...

We just wait n see peoplez....

It's a good camera video phone but also a boring phone (not many functions). I rather go for a new symbian phone like 3250 (somemore cheaper). What you think?

I'm using a 1GB card with this phone and it doesn't seem to effect performance (Not that it's that quick anyway).

I changed from o2 to '3' bout 2 months ago to get the 6280. I can honestly say that I have better coverage with '3' than I did with o2. I think this may be the case in a lot of non major towns & cities where 02's 3G service is non-existent. For example where I live o2 only have about 2 transmitters, which give good coverage in general but in certain places signal is poor or non-existent. Due to the fact that '3' have to use more transmitters over the same area, I now have 100% signal in places where o2 is poor. Obviously when out of '3' coverage you are using o2 network, so you get the best of both. The comments most people make about '3' is that coverage is poor & calls are dropped when moving between networks.
If your thinking of joining 3 but are not entirely sure then you can always return the phone if your not happy.
Personally as of yet i've had no network problems. I nearly always have a good 3G signal and can't fault the service.
I've had a 3G phone on Orange and the content was very limited. With '3' browsing is free and many things are free to download.
If you want a 3G phone then this is the best available at the moment and works well with the '3' network. If you're looking to buy this phone and are not bothered using 3G then I would buy a different model. It's good as a 3G handset but otherwise very average and a bit big in size.
I wouldn't even think of buying this phone on any other network.

I'm from Singapore and I've used this phone for a few days. It's a great phone! It doesn't shut down or hang on me. Just a question, does using a 1 gig card slow it down? And why does the memory reflect the 64MB card as having only about 15MB space? Thank you.

Is 3 its own network or does it use someone elses? I only ask as i heard it had poor coverage in this past and this put me off. People do seem to say that this has improved but I'd appreciate any info people have. Cheers.

I emailed Orange tonight actually to ask about upcoming phones, and I got a standard letter saying that they had received a high amount of emails and that my response could be delayed. Now I know why! Haha. O2 haven't released this phone either.

Hope you get your phones very soon.

Re:Orange 6280. I sent a strongly worded e-mail about this to orange yesterday and got a standard response saying that it will be out sometime this month an that they hope this helps! obviously they have had so many queries they are just sending out this standard response as the reply did not address any of the points or complaints i had raised in my email. Is this what they call customer service? pathetic! if i was very near the end of my contract i would take great pleasure in cancelling but unfortuantely i am stuck with orange for now!

I left Orange about 2 months ago now to get this phone on the Three network in the UK. Since then i havent looked back. Great network, great coverage, top deals, awesome 3G stuff. And i have grown more and more impressed with this phone. The 6280 speaks for itself really, its initially very impressive. But after two months its; if anything, even more impressive. Highly recommended, well done Nokia.

Oh and if you can i'd download the new java version of the old classic shooter 'Doom'. Its helped me through many a boring hour at work...

I have a friend who works for Nokia, and he believes that Nokia are planning a 6280i with 3.2mp camera and improved battery life for Q4 2006. Might be worth waiting for given how long the 6280 has taken now.
