Its been 3+ years since I have this phone, and it works exactly as it did on the day I bought it.
Build quality solid, the display is/was excellent for its time the battery life is fantastic, the camera was quite good and overall it reeks of quality. Simple software makes it very reliable as well. Fantastic phone and I am a highly satisfied customer.
I wonder what can be its replacement ? I searched around, and none quite satisfied me in the above mentioned (key)attributes, in its price range.

Had this phone for over 3 years. I changed the battery once. The old one became bloated up and prevented the detection of my microSD card because it uses a physical contact with the back cover to detect proper closure of the back cover. The other issue I had with it was the magnetic switch detection of the phone that turns the unit on/off. My phone pouch had a magnetic cover and it switch off the phone when I take it out of the pouch, ie. accidentally hangs up my incoming call. I fixed the problem by using a non-magnetic pouch. Other than these, the phone is great. I like the camera most, it has auto focus and I can take pictures at closer range and the photos come out very sharply focused. The casing is very robust, I dropped it many times and it still look great, amazing. Load the NIV and KJV bibles in it too, great!

When I bought it I bought it as a temporary phone but now I don’t want to change this phone, It is having classy look and sleek design.

have this phone for 3 years now and still works like the day i bought it - perfect. battery last only 4 days now, but thats ok.
my next phone will be definitly nokia x1 (1460 hrs stand by time??? a must have for me)

bought it in May of 2008. still working with absolutely no problems!!! best Nokia for me.

The Nokia 6500 slide is a stylish and good looking phone. It's features are, 2.2 inch 16.7M color display, TV-out for 3G TV video calling and TV conference, and 3.2Mpix camera with Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus and 8X digital zoom,which is a good replacement for a real digicam.

I can't properly insert the micr sd card n i hv hd my slot broken i thot that it required mini sd but here it's writtn micro sd i hav tried a hundred times .. is there any solution??

i have this phone for over 2 years and still counting, bundled battery still kicking and lively, never had any problems, dropped it over and over due to carelessness, still working. The best nokia S40v5 for me...longevity and reliability...6500 slide does it.

Biggest problem is the ageing battery expanded and pushes the rear stainless steel cover out, causing it to not press on something that indicates the cover is closed, resulting in the phone stop reading the memory card. Fix by either switching to a new battery or just put a piece of paper there.
