Exchanged phone at least 6 times with provider under warremty program within the very first year, usually for repeat problems.
After warrenty period over, took the time to write to Nokia and they basically didn't care and sent mr packing.
Got the Office of President's email/contact info - let's see what happens.
Who has the time to keep writing, looking for someone to care and listen?

I have loved my phone for the last two years - love the pics especially! battery life, yes, definitely need more - it's time to move on...love Nokia - will stick with Nokia for sure.. design is great, dropped it more than once, watch video clips, send emails, text constantly, acess internet, google, used it to its max.... ready for more power, faster downloads. The car charger doesn't work anymore, need to charge daily. Barely makes it through the day -

Renso, 19 May 2009There might be a solution about the shutting off problem of... moreMy 6555 was powering off soon after I bought it about 12 months ago. I discovered that if I jammed a piece of folded paper between the battery and the compartment the phone does not shut off. The designers of the battery compartment messed up. The molds that were used to create the compartment were not designed correctly and now many of us are stuck with a battery compartment that is too big for the battery. Try the folded paper idea to push the battery into the phones battery copper leads. This worked for my phone. Good luck.

There might be a solution about the shutting off problem of the Nokia 6555 - it might be the battery compartment.
If you will open the battery cover, check if you can move the battery up and down...if yes then that might be the cause of the problem. All you need to is to is to have it tighten by putting a paper folded to two or three to fit and place the battery tightly.
I have done that and now the shutting off problem stops...though the battery life really sucks. Mine only gives me about two days.
I really wonder about that when it uses a BL-5C type that has a 1020 mAH capacity. It should be even better that the BL-4U battery which has 1000 mAH.

Mine shuts off too, and it is pretty annoying when you are towards the end of a text and then it shuts off. Ugghhh. The battery does not last long either.

This is my second 6555. I believe this phone is a piece of junk to say the least. The first 6555 I had would just shut off for
no apparent reason. I spoke with customer service at AT&T and they sent me another 6555. This one has been doing the exact same thing. My boss also has the same phone and he is on his third one. I wouldn't recommend this phone for anything other than throwing it into a pool of water like skipping rocks.

The phone works well and tries it's hardest to appear user friendly. However, I do have some gripes with it.
1) T9- The predictive text works well but you have to press options before viewing the alternative spellings. This means pressing an additionally two buttons every time T9 doesn't guess your word on the first try.
2) Backlight- Although Nokia interfaces are generally very customizable, I can't set the backlight time for my 6555.
3) Camera placement- For a 1.2 megapixel cam, the optics are quite nice. However, the camera is placed near the middle of the phone (when open) so the view is usually obscured by my finger at first.
4) C aka delete key- There is none. Which means deleting requires pressing 'options' then scrolling down to 'delete'.
5) No way to light up external display without raising volumne of ringtone.
Some people have complained of short battery life but I don't use the music player on mine, nor do I use EDGE so I haven't experienced this. I also have updated in awhile and my phone is still branded by AT&T. >_<
The only reason I haven't debranded is because I don't have too much of a problem with it and I like the Nokia warranty.
In summary, for people with high-end needs, spend the extra cash on a high end N-series. For those with basic needs, there are simpler phones for cheaper.

I had this phone for almost a year , my older brother's had it for two years. It's a pretty nice phone. It has some good qualities. I texted on it so much that it wouldn't show my messages anymore. It just showed a question mark. I did really love this phone.

it's really a good phone, with a great design, the only problem is that you don't have radio on it, and the music navigation keys is only inside.
