Nokia has every mobile made with a purpose, so choose ur priorities & pick one:
3230
- Very Good Display,
- Symbian Operating System
- Mono MP3 Player[ so if u are a music buff forget 3230]
- Stereo FM Radio
- 1.3 MP Camera

6630
- 3G technology [but a half baked effort at it as u need a Video Call stand as an accessory..I wonder how they overlooked it]
- Symbian OS & a very fast one, faster processor than the 3230
- Stereo MP3
-1.3 MP Camera with Multishot
6230i
- Stereo MP3
- Stereo FM Radio
- Bluetooth & Infrared together
- Small size
-1.3 MP Camera
- a very good all rounder with all the features for a good price.[ only disadvantage is it is not a Symbian]

Has anyone downloaded the new firmware yet? Is it reliable or likely to screw my phone?

i have been using this phone since end Jan and have absolutely no issues so far.

here is my attempt at answering some questions:

video recording: you can record up to an hour if you have a bigger memory card. with the std 64MB youy can get around 45 mins. make sure you set to long recording mode when in videocam otherwise you can record up to 30secs only.

            problems with 2G sim card:
if you mean GSM, then i have no problems at all. if you mean another kind of 2G then i have no idea.

            memory cards:
i do not use card readers but transfer files via PC and phone using just the cable. get the nokia PC suite and your phone will appear in winexplorer as a device. you can then tranfer all you want back and forth via PC and phone. hassle free to me.

            using mp3 as ringtone:
i have no problems with that either except that there maybe a lag (of 1 or 2 secs) before it plays and the volume seems to be dependent on the media player volume at that time. also it sometimes plays the mp3 very soft and after restarting the volume can be adjusted louder again.

            512MB memory card:
don't know. have not seen one here.(in Msia) i am using 256 MB now

            overall:
has its weaknesses but still one of the better phones around and at least for me the best phone i have owned.

i am using the 6630 as a gsm ,2g,phone using o2 and orange sim cards and its just the same levels of reception as the other 2g phones i have sim free.make sure you lock it to gsm mode.i am in an area of good reception most of the time.my 6630 is sim free so dont know how to get a 3g sim card besides buying a 3g phone & swapping sims.the 512 mb d/v rs mmc card question is that i have not seen one available yet?but i hope so

I have just received this phone from Vodafone in the UK and to be honest if you want to use it for the Video Calling you will be very disappointed.

You get a dodgy stand that you have to attach your phone to, as the phone does not feature an integrated front camera (although the rear one of 1.3 mega pixels is excellent for picture taking).

The screen is a nice size, but due to certain restrictions you cannot upload themes or games via bluetooth as the phone will say that security is not allowing you to install them.

MP3 cannot be used as a ringtone unless you but it from Vodafone Live! or from Jamster or the like.

Overall the phone is nice, but I am looking to change it for the Sharp 902 whilst i am still in my 'Chage your mind' 14 day period.

Hope this helps others wanting to get the phone.

just to answer criistihr's question about the PD-2 flash. its not very good with taking pictures of people unless they are very far away as the flash is too bright so you cant see there face but good for long distance shots if its dark and the video is good. i wouldnt recommend it for taking pictures down the pub tho.

How do you upgrade to the new software? Also, I have the 'auto update' for the clock switched on, but its always 1 hour behind. Any ideas?

The best way to get a reasonable internet connection without buying a data card, nice size but software can be a bit iffy. Every tenth call I recieve seems to make the phone freeze before I answer it.
