Yes with the updation my that problem was solved.But still there are two problems. 1.its battery life is very less
2.Very often it ask you to shut down applications as the memory is full unlike nokia 6600 which I was having peviously.Otherwise phone is o.k.

I bought my phone 2 days ago and had exactly the problem which you are describing, ie not being able to call from the call log or contact list. I went back to the shop where I bought it and they knew immediately what the problem was.
I subscribe to a pay as you go network here in Azerbaijan and the network default setting is to send a system message (not an SMS)telling me the balance each time I make a call or access the internet over GPRS. Dialling from the call log or contact list worked fine until I received one system message at which point the functionality ended.
I got the operator to stop sending me the system messages and the phone now works fine and I am more than happy with the rest of the package.
Incidently problems due to these system messages are not limited to this phone. Previously, with my SE T610, if the system message was not cleared from the screen then I could not receive any SMSs.

Hey all,
I'm a young user and i've recently changed my opinion from SE k750i to Nokia 3230 or 6681.All I want to know is about fun stuff,does this 6681 contain some fun programs in 3230 like muvee director etc.?I don't want to gain a boring phone.My another question is,does this 100$ diffference between 3230 and 6681 worth to buy 6681 or not?

I own a Nokia 6681. The performance is good. And the pictures captured are clear and the colors are nice, it's like taking pictures from a digital camera.
With regards to the queries below, it does not have a radio and I dont think it can be installed because radios needs a certain hardware and cannot be supported by a software only.
The player on the speaker is monotone, but it's like any other good quality mp3 player when listening thru the earphones. When u receive a call or text message the phone will stop playing.
The slow performance of the phones is dependent on the phone memory available for use, as we all know it needs available space in order to open applications et al. So better use a spare memory card for your other applications stored on the phone so as not to affect its performance.

i like this 6681 phone very much, i am planning to buy this phone. But one thing is missing!! and it is "Radio". is there any software is available for that(Radio)? i think "Virtual Radio" is it? can u plz tell me Virtual Radio can be used WITHOUT GPRS or network connection?
How is its music quality? Music player is installed separately or the music files only can be played thru Real Player!!!
Also one thing i want to know... when i start music tracks, if i recv a call while playing music tracs, music player will stop, right? but WILL IT START AUTOMATICALLY when i finished the call??? for your info, it happens in Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i.
i would like to knw abt its operating system!! is it a PDA? or having Symbian OS? can i download symbian softwares? Mostly i prefer Dictionaries. important to me is ENGLISH-TO-ENGLISH DICTIONARY????

Guys , i own this phone... it is a great pcs not to mention it is not slow , almost pefect just missing the radio.

Yes The phone is extraordinary in every respect.Its battery life is horrible.It last just 22 hours and that too with very minimum usage.
Secondly It very often ask you to close some applications as memory is full.
Apparently they have not euipped it with adequate RAM MEMORY.

Excuse me, what is the use of owning a smart phone when the whole experience of owning one is such a pain in the a#$ . The phone is sooooooo slow that if u want to open any function on it, u may bettter have a quick nap and come back to find the function just opening, and if it is u'r bad day most often than not it will crash on you!! real hell, hope nokia finds a stable enough platform or they will lose most of their fans to other.....

i belive that the nokia 6681 is the ultimate phone out yet well until the nokia n70 is released anyways.i am goin to buy one form ebay i was thinking of waiting for the n70 but im totaly impatient on mobiles.it has 1.3 mega pixels,262'177 colour screen,symbian os,74mb altogether,flash,cool image and video editor and bluetooth.with support for third party software this is truly the one for me

I think Nokia 6681 is the worst peice of nokia engineering i have ever come across, pitty they call them selves pioneers of mobile technology.
The day i bought mine at stupid price i was not able to make calls from the call log, the phone is turned on but i got a call on my land line from a friend that your phone is not reachable and then i see that though the phone is on it is not working although visibly everything seems to be fine , so what i do is i switch it off and on again and ....it starts working ....hold on only for a few hours as again i see i cannnot make any calls ...so i have to switch it off and then on again ....great so is thia what i am supposed to do now everytime i want to make or recieve a call...
Nokia...please drop dead as your customer care centres don't know what to do either ....never again i am gonna buy Nokia Sony Ericcson rocks ....period.
