Boreas, 28 May 2019After a substantial price cut I'm considering buying it for... moreJust want to highlight some concerns that I am facing while using Nokia 6.1, 4 GB RAM variant:

1) WiFi network issue. I have nearly ten smartphones all connected to my home network and none of them have any wifi network issue. But 6.1 have issues after Pie update. This issue is widespread and many have reported the same in Nokia community forums. It seems like the phone will work in some networks and not in other networks. I have tried to connect my Nokia is seven different WiFi networks in different places and it properly worked in only two places. So there is a high chance WiFi network issues may occur if you buy the phone.

2) The phone comes with a yesteryear's 5.5 inch display with 16:9 ratio. Unfortunately Android One Pie is highly optimized for newer taller displays having 18:9 ratio or even higher. Thus Pie on 6.1 by default results in a half screen full of app icons, search bar & navigation buttons which unfortunately you cannot change or remove.

Now let me elaborate. With Pie, Nokia removed their own gesture controls and now uses the one that comes with Pie. Normally when you use gestures for navigation you do it for two reasons:

a) Ease of use
b) To free up space in the display taken up by navigation keys.

With Pie gesture controls you will get neither of them. The gesture button will take a slab of screen real state at the bottom. And to add to the insult you cannot remove the Google search bar anymore from home screen ends up with two slabs of screen real state unnecessary taken away from you. Finally the home app icons will take up another stack resulting in a home screen which by default will consume half the screen and you can do nothing about it in a 16:9 ratio display of Nokia 6.1. Also you have google time & weather controls in the middle of the screen. However this does not appear as crammed on Nokia 7 Plus as it uses a much taller 18:9 display. I hate this. Pushing wallpapers in home screen is useless.

        Phone is excellent but has WiFi network issues after Pie update. Will not work with some wifi networks as it does not work with my home network. However it works with my Airtel Hotspot WiFi dongle which is strange. There are over 100 post in Nokia forums regarding this.

        I have no idea of the 3 GB RAM edition but have heard issues with ram management after Pie update. I believe this is the reason why Nokia is selling all their 3GB RAM variant models dirt cheap. You can have the 6.1, 3 GB RAM variant at just INR 7K.

        Supplied wall charger is Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 certified. It is a 18 watts charger with below ratings:

        12V x 1.5A = 18 watts
        9V x 2A = 18 watts
        5V x 2A = 10 watts

        For those who wanted to know about Nokia 6.1 fast charging capabilities, I have performed the below charging speed test with my phone turned off and battery percentage to 0%.

        Battery (Typical Capacity) -> 3,060 mAh
        Battery (Rated Capacity) -> 3,000 mAh

        0 to 20% -> 612 mAh -> 15 mins
        0 to 25% -> 765 mAh -> 18 mins
        0 to 40% -> 1224 mAh -> 30 mins
        0 to 50% -> 1530 mAh -> 39 mins
        0 to 58% -> 1775 mAh -> 45 mins
        0 to 70% -> 2142 mAh -> 57 mins
        0 to 72% -> 2203 mAh -> 60 mins
        0 to 75% -> 2295 mAh -> 63 mins -> 1 hr 3 mins
        0 to 80% -> 2448 mAh -> 69 mins -> 1 hr 9 mins
        0 to 85% -> 2601 mAh -> 75 mins -> 1 hr 15 mins
        0 to 88% -> 2693 mAh -> 80 mins -> 1 hr 20 mins
        0 to 90% -> 2754 mAh -> 83 mins -> 1 hr 23 mins
        0 to 93% -> 2846 mAh -> 90 mins -> 1 hr 30 mins
        0 to 95% -> 2907 mAh -> 90 mins -> 1 hr 34 mins
        0 to 100% -> 3060 mAh -> 102 mins -> 1 hr 51 mins

        In the end I will say, Nokia 6.1 does support fast charging but my LG V30+ which is also QC3 certified is even faster. But then V30+ is flagship product and should not be compared with Nokia.

              does the battery can stand for 1 day with games?
              does the phone heating fast?

                After a substantial price cut I'm considering buying it for a friend. Few questions:
                Battery charging percentage in first 30 minutes and from 0 to 100.
                Is camera really bad in indoor/low light?
                Heating or any other issues?
                Thanks

                  The battery life is fine, I dont understand the bad comments on this. The phone's hardware quality is excellent, the android version is too (updates as soon as google releases them).
                  Very happy with this phone, would buy for my daughters next time they need phones (instead of second-hand iphones like I did previously even though I got those for cheap at a great quality).

                        I have been using the phone for months and the only drawback is the battery life. It barely goes 5hrs on web browsing.

                                    Stunning phone that looks and feels much more expensive than it is, how ever the build quality is just not capable of handling daily use. I had my last phone (S4) for almost 5 years and had no issues, yet I've now cracked the screen on this Nokia 6.1. You are better off finding a less pretty phone that won't break, though I doubt I'll ever find a phone that looks and feels this good again.

                                      I have Nokia 6.1 (3/32 - Black) and my opinion is:
                                      - very beautiful design.
                                      - i like camera quality, i think is very good.
                                      - android 9 is smooth without any lag.
                                      - battery life is very good for me (i never play games with phones).
                                      and i love my nokia 6.1 (my previous was Lumia 830)
