For the Bluetooth problem- i found that the problem is because there was 3 running msg in the DRAFT folder and due that the software is crushing. stop them and now everithing is perfect again.
In UK some of the mobile retailer shops dont offer the 7710 because problems and lots of returns in the past-with the old firmware

Hey Whitchking.
I just sent the Head of Support - Nokia SA, an email regarding the firmware of the Nokia 7710 (it helps working for Vodacom). There seems to be alot of confusion surrounding the firmware.
Anyway, I will report back my findings as soon as Gregory has replied to my email.
For us it is a big issue becuase be have 3 networks in ZA. One is MTN, the other Vodacom, and the third Cell-C. MTN has approved the phone but Vodacom hasn't. Vodacom hasn't approved it pending an upgrade of the current (3.26) firmware.

Firmaware: Seems a new firmware update may be out (4.0 something or other), I cant get it confirmed for certaing yet.
I do have 3.26 and have only used the BT aspect for my headset which has been fine. What is the bug?

Hi Jaykidd.
I work in telekoms and the latest version for the 7710 is 3.26. Firmware 4.5 is the latest firmware version for the N9500 and N9300. Nokia isn't expected to release another update to the 7710 firmware for at least a couple of months.
Most of the major issues with the N7710 were sorted out with v3.26.
PS whitchking, your 7710 uses v3.26 right? So do you aslo have the bluetooth problem?

Vokia, uninstall Switcher and re-install again. The version I am using is Switcher-1.5-crystal.sis which can be found at http://www.ki-ag.de/ and its for the 9210, but works fine even though it warns about being incompatible. I am currently learning how to program Symbian apps yes, with a view to improving eemame. Its a slow process though as I am snowed under at work.
Internet browse speed is primarily dependant upon your network and not the phone. The 7710 may be marginally slower to update its screen than other phones as it is so much bigger, but the difference will be negligible compared to the download times which are the primary stumbling blocks.

Hey Hugo, sorry, i could'nt see your question.
The is working great since the upgrade. i have even tried opening 5 simultaneous widows of the browser plus the music player and the camera running side by side and it did not crash. Is it possible to podcast using 7710?
Witchking, thanks again! re switcher, I am not getting any window after i tap on the icon on desk. Just the message about hotkey. That is what makes me think probably i am not having the right version of it. Does it warn you of compatebility when you install it? btw Are you into symbian app development also?
thanks!

you go into phone mode and enter *#0000#.
Yes it is supported by default, but there are different kinds of encoding formats and some of them are not supported by the N7710's built in media player.

Hi Sukhu.
As far as playing mpeg's are concerned, i believe that you have to download an application called "smart movie". That should solve the problem.
PS. what is the firmware version of your N7710?
Regards.

Be candid as you like. I'm currently working on 3 projects all with the same deadline, so when I'm up late on my PC (like 1 am last night), it tends to be with work and not play. I'm currently working on FGAC, Prince 2, Symbian (C++), ITIL and eemame.OH and my fiancee wants me to set her a website up for her company. So, nope, no clue what podcasting is.
[edit]Quick Google and I now know what it is. Okay, so what would you record to MP3 in your podcast? I assume I'd be needed for the RSS coding side of life? [/edit]

Hi witchking, pardon my candor, but under which oracle machine have you been hiding? Podcasting is the latest craze from Apple.
It's like having your own radio station, and it is for free.I have been toying with the idea for a while, but I can not do it on my own.

Hugo, forgive my ignorance (I'm an Oracle / Java developer and not a web guru), but what is a podcast? I'll help out with one if I can. I'm currently having to get into the web aspects of life rapidly. I have included my work e-mail address on this post for your reply.
Vokia, glad I could be of help and I hope you continue to enjoy it. Ref Switcher, ignore the "hotkey" message. Once Switcher opens, you highlight any program you want to close fully in the left window and then click on Terminate and that program is no longer resident. IE. I have Camera still showing as open, though I last used it two days ago, so I'll click on that (uses 1.6mb of RAM) and close it now.
