H ow to install *.jar files on the phone.I've tried thru the aplication installer but i cant see the files in the folder?

Hi all, i am looking to buy 7710 only because it has GPS (installable option)
Has anyone used GPS on 7710? Was it TomTom?

Hi everyone!
Thanks Witchking, i downloaded the Switcher frm the link u gave and now it is working great!
The latest firm ware here in India is 3.26 I have just confirmed frm Nokia. Btw can you plss mail those themes to me also. i would be highly obliged.
Surely, at one time i was thinking of returning the phone due to all the problems,, but now since the upgrade my opinin has been totally reversed for good.

Sukhu, that means you have firmware 02.08.1 which I believe is one of the very earliest. At least 4 firmware updates have occured since then.
Take it to a Nokia Service centre and get the latest 4.01 and your phone should be miles better (well beter anyway). DOnt quite understand your other question, sorry.

The site I check(ed) for the firmware is http://www.mobile-review.com/forum2/showthread.php?t=31948 . They keep a list of the latest firware for each Nokia phone there. A thread on the same page lists a few of the changes. I am not sure where Kristof found out this firmware information as I cant eaily. Bokia, sorry I missed it. Either mail me (my e-mail is on a posting a few posts down) or post you e-mail. I have 3 themes on my pc here I can send you.

Where did you get that firmware because I recieved confirmation from nokia this morning that he official new version of the firmware is 4.01 like Whitchking said.
How is that firmware anyway? And BTW, love the themes. Could you maybe post the site o which you found them?

I personally think that public interest in this phone is starting to take shape again. Even the retailers should get back into the 7710 game, what with the new firmware solving so many of the bugs that the phone innitially shipped with.

witchki,ng, trust me I know your busy but i think you might have missed my quetion because you said you whe.re gone for the weekend. i basicly ask if you could tell me where to find that windows xp and blue themes. I followed what you said before but I couldnt find anything. I want the most I can get out of my phone. please tell me if you know how i could get them. thanx.

Hi Whitchking.
Would you mind posting a link to the site where you found the latest version number and the changes that it brings?
I am hoping to get clarity on this with the email i sent to nokia.
The rollout would probably only happen here by the end of the year, but then again I have ways of getting things done:-)
Anyway, things should get interesting as there seems to be revived interest in this once allmost dead product.
I for one will have one pretty soon.

Jaykidd, the latest firmware for the 7710 is not 4.5. That is for the 9500 ( I checked a couple of weeks back when someone else asked about it). The latest for the 7710 is:
RM-12
v 4.01.0
(or
RM-12_DP_EMEA_v4.0_MCU4.01.0 to be exact)
This came out yesterday as far as I know. From another site, I picked up these changes:
I have heard that the camera resolution is bumped up to 1.23 (like the 6630/6680). Improvements to speed, memory handing, tool bar and lots of bug fixes.

Well then an apology is due. It is not what Nokia said, but then again it is more than possible that our local firmware lists have not been updated yet.
Like I said in my previous post, I am waiting for an email that will clear things up (for ZA users at least)
How did you confirm that 4.5 is the latest version?

For the Bluetooth problem- i found that the problem is because there was 3 running msg in the DRAFT folder and due that the software is crushing. stop them and now everithing is perfect again.
In UK some of the mobile retailer shops dont offer the 7710 because problems and lots of returns in the past-with the old firmware

Hey Whitchking.
I just sent the Head of Support - Nokia SA, an email regarding the firmware of the Nokia 7710 (it helps working for Vodacom). There seems to be alot of confusion surrounding the firmware.
Anyway, I will report back my findings as soon as Gregory has replied to my email.
For us it is a big issue becuase be have 3 networks in ZA. One is MTN, the other Vodacom, and the third Cell-C. MTN has approved the phone but Vodacom hasn't. Vodacom hasn't approved it pending an upgrade of the current (3.26) firmware.
