This tracking is done at the network provider level for protecting us ( our lives ). Also, Apple collects some user statistics to improve their services. But, though it is private and secured it can also be hacked. Hope everyone knows about Facebook stealing information through iPhone cameras. Most of the information stolen from us are through Social Networking Apps.

Also I am not convinced Apple aint collecting anything, they most be doing it at the bare minimum for bug reports, see how users use the device so they can improve and so on, private stuff will probably come along with the other data! :< (last secure phone was maybe BB10 Blackberries)

Because they are targetet, while on tv they are not, and they can't manipulate you. On a personal opened to internet device they can target and manipulate you into believing you actually need what they sell. And this is just the less spooky part...

Subramanian CN, 13 Nov 2019Update to my previous message... Advts are not entertain... moreYou really believe apple? That biased mentality that apple is better should go out of your head if you wanna stay private/safe in the next 20 years. Why would IOS be more secure then android in reallity? Bouth systems have their cores comming out of a far fetched Unix, at least the CLI that talks with the maschine most closely. So, IOS might seem more secure, but in reallity is not. Their are of course some reasons as of why android is considerated more vulnerable: because of it's open source nature (hackers can take a pick), apps that are not build from core, but just from chunks of already found open source code (exposing the system as not even the developers knows exactly what all of the copied code does) or a lot of android devices that use old systems with dated security levels... putting that all together with the market share android has, you pretty much end up with, statisticaly speaking, one vulnerable giant (a small ad for Nokia here, who does it good and keep it's users up to date). But coming back to IOs security vs android well, as long as their is a system, their is a person to crack it up. Security, at least in tech world, is actually a fealing not a fact. If one good hacker puts its target on you, you are kind of scr... no matter what system you hold, don't ever doubt that, human error will happen at a point and you're hacked. Targeting means a lot of patience and skill. Believe me, they have it. But targeting a normal person is also a far fetched assumption, i do not think there are too many hackers wasting their time, maybe some wannabes that found some tools and try to use them... so the normal joe should be on a safer side, then let's say... a company. As if you want privacy, well do not let them build that profile of you. Spread the info accross as many platformes as possible with different names, emails and passwords. Do not use chrome, disable it and use firefox; do not use google maps, use here maps or whatever. Do not use google as a search engine, use duckduckgo or startpage. Use a private dns in your router, cloudflare or OpenDns will do. Use a private Calendar app; do not use google mail as your personal mail provider, try other more friendly sources and use them only with other mail apps, outlook or more private ones, if you find. Do not use your real info when creating emails, do not use your real info when activating a smartphone. Use data blockers, or firewall as some call them, netguard would be a good example; block as many apps as possible form accessing the internet. Block system services from accessing the internet. Disable all tracking settings your google account has enabled. You can do that from your device but also by accesing your account from your pc and quietly and with patience read and disable all the nasty that you can disable. Only by doing this, you have a boost in privacy of more then 70% then your level of privacy now is. If you already done all this, then, well done. Then you should know the next level of privacy to implement.

Advts are not entertained by Android One devices only at the Operating System level. But, advts will appear in all the apps that entertain them. Some of the free apps like FaceBook, Twitter, etc. are entertained by Apple just because of which they can't sell their devices. If you ask Apple as to whether they are interested in entertaining these Apps, the answer would be NO and would call them as necessary evil. In Apple everything is proprietary.

Adul Al Salami Kebab, 13 Nov 2019Not all Xiaomi devices have ads, depends on market actually... moreFirst of all who said advts are wrong. Advts appear in TVs, radios, mobiles, theaters, and so on to make money. That is the reason why they are called commercials. But, question arises with respect to mobiles since it contains plenty of private data. Will any Software Manufacturer upload their client's programming data in a cloud or will have it in a computer that is connected to the internet? The answer is definitely NO because of want of privacy. This privacy is lost with respect to mobiles. I don't save any of my important data in my phone for want of privacy. I always rely on my computer. Even my computer has two hard disks one for the internet and the other to store my private information. Privacy might even include confidential information. Now coming to Xiaomi, everyone knows that Android One devices will not entertain advts. Though other Xiaomi devices entertain advts many users are comfortable with that. Please don't mean that advts steal your data. But, it consumes your internet - ( Data Pack ). It is almost impossible for any ordinary user to calculate the volume of internet data stolen. Moreover, any app can steal your information, if it is designed so, in any Android System without the users knowledge. The question is not about, whether your device is advts free but whether it is secured. Privacy and Security are like the two Eyes of any digital device. Mac and iOS deliver this to a greater extent ( though not completely ) than Android and Windows. But, many of us can't afford Apple products. To be precise, if I can afford an iPhone I'll not be here speaking about Android. Presuming Google can make Android into a Closed Eco-System this might be possible to a greater degree. But, Android licensing will not permit Google to do so. Now, Google has started removing apps that steal our information. Apps that steal information are the ones that are FREE. Consumers who choose Android One devices are those who are annoyed of advts and bloatware. You can choose any brand of Android device if it serves your purpose. I am not a fan of Android or Apple. Needless to say every digital device tracks plenty of user statistics. Manufacturers manufacture goods and sells them to earn money. They are not philanthropists. Being a Business Management graduate, I'd call manufacturers as consumers because they consume our money. They are the actual FANS of us ( Consumers ). Why should I be a fan of any of them? I've grown enough to accept and digest the facts of life. Try to understand all the hidden facts behind things within your reach and try to help the world with the lessons learnt. I think I've written a lot. Everything can't be discussed here. Good Luck.

Subramanian CN, 12 Nov 2019The only difference between Xiaomi and other Android device... moreNot all Xiaomi devices have ads, depends on market actually. Yet some brands do collect data and sell to advertising companies or other phone makers about how users use their devices... BLU, Micromax & Wiko is well known for selling data using the app adups! So only saying Xiaomi does it is false when no Trojan like adups have been found... Tecno is another brand that shows ads and collect the data from the user with a Trojan, my final question to you is this... Does Xiaomi sound as bad as the other 4? Xiaomi devices have not been found to harbor any built in Trojan that collect data from its user base at all!

The first and last question would be, what you are going to ultimately do with your device. Don't think too much for anything in life because life is too short. If you are a rich person there is no problem. You can keep on shuffling devices. Question arises when there is budgetary constraint. There is nothing called "The finest budget device". Think accordigly, choose one and try to be happy with it. There are plenty of other things to care and to worry about in life. Just care about your mobile device in the manner you care for your tooth brush.

But, I have said that this device Nokia 7.2 is not up to the mark. To be honest, I like Pure Android devices against other Custom UI Android devices. Also, I have made comparisons only between Nokia 7.2 and Mi A3. Everything in this world can't be discussed. There is no point in complaining Google because the Android System is designed in a manner it is now. To be on the safer side let us leave things positively as you've said. Above all, do you mean to say that all the FREE apps are safer. Why APPLE don't entertain most of the free Apps like Google? Above all, the mere fact is that we are all forced to use these smart devices because we need it desperately.
