Lumia 830 same. Both 820 & 830 where in the same position in the lineup as Nokia 7 Plus when they were released.
So, your point as to Carl Zeiss lenses being the reason why phones are excused to be high priced is invalid.

Supply and demand folks, as long as the fanboys keep purchasing these overpriced devices the companies will continue raising the prices every year, and the gullible fall for it every time.

damn, 4GB ram and only snapdragon 660, for 500 USD...for 2018, those specs are mid range but price is expensive

I remember a saying in my native tongue "ada harga, ada rupa" which translates in English as "there is price, there is quality". Price often corresponds to quality (not always, I know, but most of the time).
Plus, as someone here already said before, Nokia phones in the past weren't cheap either.

All the Specifications are great of this phone. But it would be a perfect device in this price, if nokia used snapdragon 835 SoC.

I feel this is seriously over priced . for comparison last year nokia 8 is 400EUR .I cannot under stand why one would buy this they can rather go for last years flagship with 835 snapdragon .

This Nokia 7 plus , seems like a really great value considering all the features w. alot of promise (huge screen, battery + speedy processor = high performance and battery life, top imaging, 3- mic Nokia OZO, the ergo design, face detection), if I had to place it , it sounds like a high-mid ranger, given everything include the price seems justified, and there are other affordable choices w. the 6 (2018) or last years offerings.

I think the price will drop. A SD660 phone should be close to 350-450 USD. I'm just glad it has a proper headphone jack.
