I bought Nokia 8 in December 2017. After using it for 1.5 year, it randomly restarted 6-7 times in row. It will restart maybe once, or 10 times in a day. It is mostly restarting when I open camera app. Although this doesn't happen when I am charging the phone. It only happens when I am not charging the phone. There's also a sound issue where the sound freezes or is not audible when the volume is full. Again, it doesn't happen when I am charging the phone. I tried resetting the phone several times. Last week, I sent it to the shop. He first said that it's a battery issue and today he told me it's a motherboard issue and I need to replace the motherboard. My phone just lost warranty in December 2018. It will cost me 16k Rupees to fix my phone. I don't know if the shopkeeper is lying or not. Any help will be appreciated. Let me know if this issue is common in Nokia 8 and what should I do next.

Bought it on February for just 200€ (6GB 128GB version), it is fast, and it has a great camera. My last phone was an iPhone 8, and this has a better camera and screen.
Battery last me all day, 50% bright. It has usb c and wireless charging. It is fast, very fast.
I dont miss my iPhone, this has Android 9 stock, with no bloatware, and the lates security updates evert month.

I just bought this phone and upon opening, a series of updates has been done before I able to use it for the first time. Upon checking the IMEI SV, the value is 62. Anybody who has the same value of IMEI SV on their phones?

RobotPotato, 16 Jul 2019Is the Nokia 8 worth it in 2019 for $220 new? I'm choosing ... moreI think it ia a geeat deal. It is the best all around phone you can choose in a budget like this. I've got mine with 170 $ with 1 and a half year guarantee, in order to replace my Samsung J5 2017. I am very pleased with my decision: I've wanted a small phone (to be able to use it with one hand), with good cameras and fast processor. So, yes, it ia worth it even in 2019. At least in my oppinion. :)

Unknown, 16 Jul 2019Should i buy this?
I want a gaming phone probably about 4 ... moreYes. As someone else said, SD 835 is best you can get in this price and this chipset is good enough to play PUBG on Ultra HD which is maximum graphics pubg has.
It has Stock Android which means it's not overburdened like MIUI, Color OS or other heavy OS. This gives you better performance and battery.
For example, Pocofone F1 which is a flagship phone, can only handle pubg up to FHD even though it has SD 845.
Its battery isn't bad, just small capacity. It's endurance is actually good for 3000 mAh battery. Pocofone F1 and Realme 3 Pro have 4000 mAh battery and they last about same amount of time (about 5 hours) in PUBG. And since you'll have a power bank, you'll have no problem.
Its default camera isn't good but if you install Gcam, it takes better pictures than most $300 devices out there. Google "Nokia 8 Gcam" and then open the link of XDA website.
You'll find Gcam links for Nokia 8 as well as users sharing their pictures taken from this phone. They are excellent.
The second best device you can get in this price is Realme 3 Pro. It's overall better as it has many features and latest OS but Nokia 8 is much better for gaming.
Nokia 8 does have some advantages like
- Better display experience (but smaller screen)
- Water and dust resistance which pretty much no phone has in this price with these specs.
- Realme 3 Pro doesn't have water resistance but it worked fine after being placed in water for an hour, but it gets scratches if you don't use case and tempered glass.
- Realme 3 Pro worked fine after being dropped from 10 feet height 6 times.
So quality wise, both phones are great but Nokia 8 is better.
There is also Motorola Z2 Force with SD 835 and you can install Moto Mods on it but that phone has screen peeling issues widely reported.
If you want 6 inch screen, long battery, Stock Android and something that can handle PUBG on HD/FHD graphics, then there is also Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2.
- Battery lasts up to 7 hours in pubg.
- Quality is similar to Realme 3 Pro but better scratch resistance.
- But it's chipset is way below Nokia 8 and Realme 3 Pro.
- And you can't play Fortnite on it.
Realme 3 is another such device.
It's the cheapest device that can handle pubg on HD graphics.
But it has HD resolution and low ppi on 6' screen, so display experience isn't good.
If your top priority is gaming, I can guarantee there is no better device than Nokia 8 for gaming in this price.

I want a gaming phone probably about 4 ... moreFor 220$ you won't be getting any better processor than SD835. Well if you're searching for reasons not to buy Nokia 8, it won't be getting any more major Android updates. No wireless charging. Only ip54 water and dust resistance. Classic 16:9 panel (may be a good thing depending on who you ask).
What else is available for 200$? Redmi note 7?
