AnonD-3367, 28 Jun 2012Why would i be jealous of a company thats trading at 2.19US... more:))). But, is interesting, no? You are jealous and you don't even know that! Man, you people are like kids. At least nokia has allot of attention from people that have nothing else to do with their spare time but bashing nokia name. That is good to, it is called marketing. And you're just pulling your eyes out because your beloved phone maker will put a camera like this in there gadgets in about 30 years. That long they needed just for stealing nokia's innovations. So see you in your 70's when you will be proud of you 38 mb camera. Now let us enjoy real innovation and go brag about your dual, quad, etc. pointless phones somewhere else. I really don't know what you people are trying to prove here!!!? We like nokia, it is a company with experience and will always have light years of developement in front of everything out there. So go and love your children technology and let us get more information about real technology. Come on. Come on baby baby. Go in bad now.

This phone is best can lasts a lifetime because nokia made and can supports flash unlike android sure just one year your sick and tired of it. Nokia asha 311 is cheap but elegant if you want true android experience choose LG and Sony . Nokia making phone with love not plastic !!!!!

i compared the camera with N8 and iphone4s ... but 808 swept all away.. transferred images to my pc .. on 5x zoom the picture information started distorted (iphone4s).. N8's pic started distortion on 9x but even on 15 times zoom 808's pic was damn stable .. loved it..

so guys, bought this phone finally!!

chose it over the s3 and trust me, i feel i did nothing wrong!!

ill do a short pros and cons here as im soon uploading a video review too!!

          pros-

          -unbeatable camera
-superb display with great colors (blacks are pretty deep)
-great sound in headphones with rich bass
          -fluid user interface (belle fp1)
-fast gallery, camera and and in-camera focusing
-good battery performance (2 days on moderate usage)
-great hardware (no quirky buttons like the galaxies)
          -superb dolby performance
-enough apps at the nokia store
          -superb touchscreen (very responsive)
          -nokia maps are the best!!
-1080p videos with nokia rich recording sound authentic!! uve got to hear it to believe it!!
          ...... and much more..

          cons-

-low pixel density often distorts the text on few occasions, but its not noticable..
-symbian apps installation is a bit slow when compared to android
-the camera bump at back is prone to scratches as ive seen a phone at the nokia store (my 808 is scratchless yet!! ~touchwood~)

thats it for now.. stay tuned for the video... will post a link here....

          thanx for reading!! :)

AnonD-3367, 29 Jun 2012Thanks for giving me a good laugh. :) Im a marketing manag... moreHave to disagree with Android having good cameras, they are decent at best. Led can't compete with xenon, and if you are out and about snapping pics at night them you know that most off the time led flash results in blurry pics. I still don't know why Android manufacturers refuse to upgrade their cameras and offer a PROPER camera Button and xenon flash. 808 offers decent notifications and social network options, though as you said for heavier tasks you might want to consider something else. This its a great going out phone though, wether its a night in the club or a hike in the mountains our a day at the beach

MdN, 28 Jun 2012If a great camera is not an useful innovation I don't know ... moreThanks for giving me a good laugh. :)
Im a marketing management student and i also do event, club and events companies promotions, so if its one thing i do a lot is be out ;)
Such a lifestyle requires a smartphone thats good at being a SMARTphone and not just at the camera.
The 808's camera is useful to very few as most smartphones (Android) now come with good cameras and HD video with great high DPI displays and on top of that they have excellent Social Networking tools which is important for marketing and promo, great Web browsers that can handle HD flash and HTML5 together, they also have excellent PIM tools, handle very heavy office docs well ,great notification system etc...things the 808 and other Symbians just doesnt do well. If Camera was the most important innovation we'd be seeing iPhone/GalaxyS-type demand for 808.

                          Nokia 808 isn’t a smartphone. It’s a smart phone.

I put up with the 5MP camera on my Nokia 700 because I also had a Nokia D50 with several lenses which covered all my photography needs. Only problem was that the DSLR was bulky and I wouldn’t always have it with me, so I sold it. I sold it the week after the Nokia 808 was announced. I sold it because the picture quality on the 808 matched the quality of my 6MP DSLR, and the facilities for previewing, editing and sharing images and videos on the camera were far better than on the DSLR. I sold it because there was now a phone which offered me all the same facilities of my current phone PLUS a camera which is better than any point and shoot or cameraphone out there, even better than some micro four thirds cameras. The audio recording alone sets it apart from anything in those categories. That’s right (for all you people who say that 808 buyers should save their money and buy a DSLR), I SOLD MY DSLR to buy a Nokia 808 PureView. That’s because I will now be able to carry everything I need in my pocket in one (admittedly chunky) package. Other cameraphones try and be a jack of all trades, and end up compromising the camera for the thickness of the device.

                          The Nokia 808 isn’t a cameraphone. It’s a camera phone.

So there you have it. I hope I have helped some of you who think I’m an idiot to understand why I have made this decision. I hope some of you will have the kindness to accept that I am doing this for my own reasons which I have thought through, and I hope that you will not feel that you have to scream at me about how stupid I am.

                          Just my two pence.

PS Oh, and my phone allows me to design and use my homescreens in landscape or portrait. Does yours? I’m just interested. I like that feature. It’s not for everyone though.”

symbian boy, 28 Jun 2012what happen to nokia? They are falling faster! CEO Elop mu... moreElop is clearly destroying Nokia. He killed Meltemi and Meego, he's destroying Symbian (letting Nokia make an awesome phone, then not advertising it and not making carriers take it, then saying "look, it's dead"), also he's going to destroy S40 for some invented reason (wait and see), just so that, in the end, Microsoft will buy what's left of Nokia for peanuts and continue making their own phones. :-( Enjoy Symbian while you can, I think if I can't get one I'll rather buy a feature phone than spend my money on some other OS, unlimited data plan, apps, games and all that unnecessary stuff.

You're just brainwashed into believing that you need an expensive data plan and to stare at your phone all day (well, until the battery runs dry anyway) instead of going out and enjoying the world, maybe taking a photo here and there, and not being a slave to Twitter.

Got it yesterday for INR 27000.ie,$473 as of today's rate. Was a one-time promotion on homeshop18.The camera's far far far ahead of my S2.Just like the ICS browser of my S2 is far ahead of 808's browser.
                                      Some basic comparisons:

                                      Where the S2 leads:
                                      DISPLAY
S2 has more pixels and also a more vibrant sparkling effect. Also, cant seem to use the full 450nits brightness of 808 as mentioned in the gsmarena review.

                                      OS
Android ICS is far ahead of Belle FP1.FULL STOP.Below are some of the main merits of the OS.

                                      BROWSER
S2 is far ahead of 808.The page loading time is same but all other features like scrolling, zooming etc..are better in S2.

                                      SPEED
ofcourse,S2 leads here.Using the 808,you'll have to resign to the fact that you have to see that "loading" icon every now and then.

                                      KEYBOARD
Again,S2 is lot better than 808's but this one,I think I should review it again after using it for sometime.maybe I will feel more comfortable after sometime.

                                      Where the 808 leads:
                                      CAMERA
808 is miles ahead of S2.In everything-quality,noise,colours,size,zoom etc etc etc.Even the aesthetics, the S2's curved body feels more comfortable to use as a camera.

                                      GPS
Both of them connect very fast. But the 808 comes with fully preloaded india maps, something that S2 lacks.

                                      SOUND
808 is better in all-clarity,loudness,headset performance but the default music player again lacks in UI.

                                      CALL QUALITY & RECEPTION
The 808 appears to give better coverage. And the call quality, especially the mic of the 808 is far better.

So,briefing it,an 808 with a 720p Superamoled plus,Dual core and Android would be The King of all phones.
