I hope there will be a Feature Pack (FP) or firmware update that will allow the camera to capture images in RAW format; then it would be a true compact digital camera and camcorder replacement. (I hope they have it in the work right now)

Nokia Pureview technology + Nokia rich recording+ Carl Zeiss Optics -- awesome. 41 mp sensor in a phone?? wow ! Only Nokia can do such incredible things. I am sure no other smartphone can beat this superior camera in the next three years.(except nokia phones). Once again the king prove that they are leader in terms of camera.

Jude, 27 Mar 2012 Why are android fanboys brag their stuffs in this forum? ... moreThat last line made me laugh. I hope we won't see another headline such as "President first Filipino owner of (insert phone here) in the Philippines." That was sooo entirely false. There were already Filipinos who bought the iPhone 4S in other countries and brought it to the Philippines days before the president got his. I am planning on doing it in the same manner.

New models don't reach us quickly. We might expect it around June at the soonest, according to Nokia Philippines. Europe and Middle East are usually among the first to have this phone in the market. I'll be getting mine from one of those.

But honestly, I have doubts about this phone's processor... According to Nokia last year (I think), they said they will be releasing a dual-core phone either by late 2011 or early 2012. This is the most powerful Nokia phone for early 2012, and most likely the only one of its kind to be released this year.

Symbian Carla and Donna are on their way, but they seem to be targeted for dual-core phones. Who knows, maybe the 808 really has a dual-core processor in it, just waiting for the OS to support it and the update to activate it. Remember the 700 and 701 having their processor power unlocked with Belle?

Just my guess, but I think the 808 will actually be released with Belle FP2, along with more features such as WiFi Direct, NTFS/exFAT for microSD cards

AnonD-12368, 26 Mar 2012A worst thinking by Nokia Development team... (1.) Marke... moreWow. You really don't know what you are saying...

                1. Symbian needs only one core because it is very well optimized for performance and battery use.

                2. Refer to answer #1

                3. Refer again to answer #1. Symbian is so powerful that it requires minimal specs to do things that other OS can with 2 cores.

                4. Says who? 1080p playback... 1080p recording... But doesn't have a powerful GPU? Nobody (except Nokia) even knows about its GPU.

Why are android fanboys brag their stuffs in this forum? The answer is simple: ENVY. Envy is one of the 7 deadly sins of man.

Why do Nokia develop single core phones only? The answer is also simple: They are better than the other phone development teams and the single-core 1ghz (or more) processor phones they make can be at par with dual core android phones (in terms of functionality and response). I have N8 with speed 0f 680MHZ but the response is as fast as the other 1ghz processor android phones.

Knowing that their single core phones is already at par with dual core phones, how much more if they had actually use dual cores in their next models? The quad core phones will most probably be threatened.

Now, for those android fans out there bashing at this model, look into your phones first. Your phones are not perfect either. They have cons, too and much worse than nokia phones.

As an example, here are some cons of Samsung Nexus when updated to Ice Cream Sandwich
                  1. It can't send or receive MMS when updated to ICS
                  2. Google+instant uploader will not work anymore.
                  3. Unstable memory and some memory problems occur.
                  4. Battery drains much more faster than before after the update
                  5. An issue with contact names/numbers not showing up correctly, both in messaging and in call lists.

The list can go on. But in fairness to samsung nexus, the phone is great in itself and it is better not to update it to ICS to enjoy its features, as is.

But to Nokia phones, no problems or issues when you update it to higher version OS.

This means that the development team of Nokia is better than the others (no offense). So, your nokia handsets, whatever model, is of best quality. Just don't buy the fake nokia phones. Yes, nokia phones are copied and this is the best compliment for nokia.

                  Cheers to all nokia owners!

By the way, when this phone hit the Philippine market, I'll fall in line to grab 1. (",)

all android fans are bragging their dual-core/quad-core android phone, which they think its better in all aspect... Then bout battery issue, oh my, my android phone don't even give my needs to back up heavy internet usage using edge/3g/hsdpa... Its not all about fancy ui, its all about what gives you satisfaction... Haha android users need to buy a car battery and put it in their back packs when they are away from a charger...

Marke... moreandroid requires quad core because android is not as efficient as symbian and for battery life android is power hungry too as it is pretty new os as compared to symbian and also droid manufacturers are not up to the mark to nokia quality and last thing - bigger processors uses more power to run. thats why droids comes with bigger processor and battery.

Zelator, 26 Mar 2012This phone deserve at least dual-core CPU.......are you thinking that dual core droids are 2 times faster than symbian 1ghz or 1.3 ghz. let me know you real story, symbian uses way less resourses than android and 1.3 ghz cpu on nokia 808 can perform same like dual core droids. 1080p hd video recording on single core cpu on symbian can tell all the story, it is not possible with android or ios or any other os on market right now.

A worst thinking by Nokia Development team...

(1.) Market is nearly ready with the Quad core processor loaded devices and still Nokia development is satisfied with single core device.. Should have come up with at least dual core processor inside..

(2.) Battery is the bigger concern now when it is acclaimed of having a 41 MP camera with a Good flash.. It seems that they have provided a powerful camera with a less battery.. So the user will be ending up with a less number of shots..

(3.) The thinking of market competition without a powerful OS is agreed loss for the Company.. Why was windows OS dropped in this cell..

(4.) It lacks a powerful GPU also..
