AnonD-34890, 04 Mar 2012you see you are just confirming what am saying..unless you ... moreI'll throw the first one to you. again.. you bought an 8MP camera just to view them on your phone? your HTC captures 8MP photos, WAAYYY BIGGER than your phone's resolution. As a matter of fact, 1.3MP photos are enough to display correctly in your phone. Even you got a cameraphone that captures photos bigger than your screen's resolution. Give me statistics.. how many people keep their photos in their phones, and ONLY in their phones? Almost everyone (except for you maybe) copies their photos to other devices.

"android can support both tablets and phones..versitility" -that is your ONLY point? I got a tablet because that is the ONLY tablet OS worth getting.. And by that, I am only comparing iOS and Android. Just because they are on both platforms doesn't mean they are already good. If that is your basis, then how about we conclude that iOS is the best, because you can find it in a phone, mp3 player and tablet.. wow. by your standard of "versatile", iOS is the most versatile.

"I could give an example if you want" -hey, didn't I ask you to "Show me how a $100 Android can become a 'super phone'" in one of my earlier posts? Or did you just blindly reply without reading what I wrote?

Read carefully, then reply. I would appreciate that.
Skimming, not reading everything, then reply? Get out. It's annoying.

i hope all the ppl who want to buy this 41MP 808 are photographers, else its useless to other ppl, also in android ppl can root their devices and make it outperform which is not possible in symbian, i mean techno-geeks and smart ppl wil never opt for a symbian OS based device, this is a FACT

you see you are just confirming what am saying..unless you bring other devices like computers or HD tvs your photos from a 41mp camera will look like photos from a 2mp camera on that pathetic display..let's compare the phones on their own..
hardware aside or if we held hardware constant on all devices the android o.s offers more versatility.. on your tablet issue, maybe you should buy a symbian tablet..but wait there is no symbian tablet..android can support both tablets and phones..versitility...
superphone..yes it is..just like you said its not fair to compare phones that are not in the same price range..what I meant was with android devices even the budget phones can be modified to perform as nearly as good as higher end unmodified android devices..that means that they can outperform overpriced symbian devices..by overpriced I mean they do not give you value for your money..I could give an example if you want..

Anonymous, 04 Mar 2012I can buy 2 Samsung galaxy S1's for the price of an N8 here... moreAnd exactly HOW will the Galaxy S "obliterate" the N8?

Android still has some limitations that are not present in Symbian. Work around the OS? Of course! I have been doing that with my PC (MsDOS, Windows) for more than 15 years!

How about comparing actual, real-world performances for the phones under the same category/price range? And I mean "under the same category/price range", so no smart-ass answers while comparing a C6 with an S2, ok?

Prove your point with that. In other words: Show real proof.

I can buy 2 Samsung galaxy S1's for the price of an N8 here and the S1 will obliterate the N8. It will waste the N8. Nokia really has to consider taking on android to their devices because android works around the user, not like symbian where you have to work around the os. And nokia should ramp up the specs of their phones, this phones specs can be compared to android phones that was released 2 years ago.

AnonD-34890, 04 Mar 2012first of all..android does not take as much ram as you thin... moreOverpriced? Huh? How are Symbian phones overpriced? Compare 2 phones currently out in the market, N8 and Galaxy S2/Iphone 4. N8 costs almost half of either two. How in the universe is it overpriced?

Show me how a $100 Android can become a "super phone" that can outperform this, or even the N8?

"being able to do exactly what you want with your device..removing restrictions..flexibility.." -are you saying that Symbian has a lot of restrictions and does not have flexibility? Are you sure you are not referring to iOS or Windows Mobile? Please check that it is REALLY Symbian that you are talking about. BTW, just so you know, I had a 7650 around 8 years ago, and it has basic multitasking capabilites, only its RAM wasn't enough for basic multitasking. And that phone was released almost 10 years ago.. 10! How about the feature to create/edit/organize folder for all the shortcut apps. I have an android tablet, and I hate how it won't let me organize my app shortcuts into folders.

AnonD-34890, 04 Mar 2012the camera is nice..there is no qualm about that...but the ... moreDo you mean to say that when you take pictures, they only syat in your phone? You don't transfer them to the PC, print them, upload them, make wallpapers from them, share them, etc..? Not even one of those? Then why did you by an 8-megapixel phone, then? And did you really take a close look at the 808's display? No? "Outdated"? How is it outdated? Is is because it is a 'Symbian' OS that has been in the market for almost 10 years? Wow.

Please do the world a favor and end your existence.

first of all..android does not take as much ram as you think..for instance my zte blade..has 512mb ram..and I always have atleast 280mb free ram..
amount of ram available to the user is 421mb on gingerbread-cyanogen 7.1...by the way do you know all of you janet/Anna/belle fanboys are at the mercy of nokia when it comes to o.s updates and upgrades...
for us droid users its not all about the specs..its about owning your device I.e being able to do exactly what you want with your device..removing restrictions..flexibility..
that's why I can go to a shop and buy a $100 android phone and turn it to a super phone that outperforms an overpriced symbian device..

the camera is nice..there is no qualm about that...but the display is pathetic..I wonder how a photo from a 41mp camera looks on a 184 ppi screen..the o.s is also well outdated..I know it hurts spending a lot of money to buy a stupid phone like the Nokia 808..i can understand why you are bitter..
if belle or Janet or whatever they call this useless o.s was all that and a bag of chips why did nokia endorse windows phone 7 as its flagship o.s?
am very happy with my htc sensation and zte blade..
and I hope all of you who bought this phone are photographers...if you are its worth it..

I am really excited about what you and your team have developed. Nokia has done with their custom camera module what Samsung has done with their AMOLED display. I believe Nokia will also share in similar success... especially in a world where differences in smartphones have become razor thin and consumers are no longer impressed with the next generation processor. Even the new Tegra III quad core won't raise as many eyebrows as Nokia's 41MP camera module since it doesn't really distinguish itself from the pack.

Another advantage could be that the new camera module is sold to other manufacturers after the first two of very strong sales.

Did Nokia partner with OmniVision or other company to synergistically blend their expertise with Nokia's expertise in order to create the camera module?
