Thanks for the extensive report too. I envy you a little for your chance to play with so many gadgets. :-)))
925 seems OK too, it has some of the N8 spirit in the design. I know about macro shots, they say it's because of the wide angle lens so there's not much to do but get used to it. But that's Symbian, you learn how to work around things so you, in the end, still do more than other phones. If the other OS has a flaw they just say "No, you can't do that because Steve Jobs said NO!" or "Root your phone!!!" or "Microsoft is working on it. Maybe." but with Symbian usually you find a way. I'm afraid I still haven't tried WP, I only saw one Lumia 520 in the shop window and it was turned off. :-)

You are right, 808 has something funny on those buttons. I still cannot understand why Nokia made them so loose. Also the macro. Don't know why symbian has that weak spot. But overall 808 is a buy for me, 1020. Only if 808 does not exists. I got the chance to use windows more the just a day and i started to see some flows into the system which i really don't like and those are quite many. Symbian is still a winner for me, if Nokia would have given it more powerful hardware and a real browser. Symbian would have eaten everything alive...

It' s about 2 month I sold the 808 Pureview and I really missing this phone with every single advantage and disadvantage of it

but before every thing, congrats me cause I worked finally for NOKIA :D (Promoter at Lumia Experience Team)

I'm very happy that I become one of this big family :D XD

About the Lumia 1020...it have been released around month a go but It's very expensive (around 800$)and I really can't afford it....beside one thing... :)

I already got the Lumia 925 and Lumia 625 as a a personal and work phone so I may hold it for some time and not cry till I got the Lumia 1020

about Lumia 1020 itself, I already played with it for a good while and compared it for sure with my Lumia 925 camera so there is my first impressions about Lumia 1020:

1- the device has an amazing build quality, better than 808 Pureview when comes to shutter button and rocker keyes, the camera hump also is not that big like we saw on videos but, design and is great and feels very solid in the hand.

2- Puremotion HD+ is very sharp and vivid, awesome screen that will never makes you even think on 1080p sh*t or something like that...stunning screen with very fresh and great color reproduction :)

3- the camera and this is the main whole point of the phone....different feelings

-Nokia pro camera app is very fun to use and very professional, I loved it, very professional touch from Nokia

-Manual focus feature is the best thing I love a bout this device and my Lumia 925, it allows you to pickup the perfect focus every time and you will never miss a macro shot, unlike 808 which is a little bit tricky compared to Lumia 1020 with Nokia pro cam

-OIS is the best thing I love a bout this phone, it really works guys on almost 90% of the situations, it gives a thunder light shutter speeds and freeze the moving flowers or allows me to freeze the scenes even over 90 KM car running speed...really awesome

BUT WAITTTTTTT

Over all quality of Lumia 1020 is not on bar with 808 in terms of clarity, real colors, noise control

beside the OIS 2nd generation is weaker than the first one which featured by Lumia 920, 928 and 925

Dxomark site gives Lumia 1020 less points on sabilization than Lumia 925.

the last thing I've noticed, despite the HD + screen, the view finder gives me the feel that every thing is sharp and small, unlike 808 pureview with the 360p which makes me sees every thing on the view finder bigger...my opinion

808 Pureview is the winner for me...Lumia 1020 is amazing also and wins in some points cause it's more practical beside the WP 8 experience :)

about your issue...we have 2 solutions

try to install any app from the store which will use the wifi like hotspot app, or remote PC app...and lets see what will happen..

If not working

so you need to make a hard reset by *#7370#...if not working also....try to flash your phone by belle delight, if not working, so the problem will be a hardware issue, send your phone to Nokia care and don't worry :)

But i Din't get a chance to use symbian 3 or Anna as i was with n900 when n8 was out. So directly was with belle. When i go through many forum, there users are often spotted specifying that Anna was more stable and app store was rich. So thought to explore. But Now i can say a basic thing which every n8 user should like. Camera of n8 feels really Good and superb natural when compared to belle.
What about 1020 ziad. Did you get it.

Thank you carol. What you said is right. Anna is not that fast like belle. But Anna app store looks really diff. I can easily spot many many app than in my 808. Specially games too. Also os feels superb stable inspite of being official firmware. And battery back up really interesting. Battery stays strong than before. Now moreover phone looks classic than stylish with belle. Anyhow if there is any problem ( but nothing yet ) i will flash delight 6.3

A friend of mine bought it new and was with anna. In 2 days he was frustrated a bit:))(so i installed a much user friendly belle for him). That's what i always liked about symbian. There aren't to many who can surf into your phone. Anna is quite a good system but i'm to used with belle. I would miss allot of things belle has. So, overall i say belle is better(for me, at least). I don't know any link to anna custom firmware but i will try to find one for you this days. I'll bback with an answer if there is any still alive.
