Hey guys, just a question. On my luna, the display pulsing light doesn't come on anymore. I don't know why is this? Can anyone tell me what I can do to turn it back on. I already tried resetting it to the original factory setting, it didn't work. The key pad lights are still active when I open the phone...

Yes this phone is eye candy and is not loaded with a lot of features. That is the whole purpose of this phone. I bought this phone for my dad for several months now and no complaints. Maybe it's because he takes care of it the way everyone should be taking care of their stuff. No scratches on the back like other posters have because he keeps it in a case clipped to his belt and not swing it around for show or throw it in a purse where keys can scratch it. He doesn't have any problems with charging it either. I just think people need to take better care of their stuff and stop whining like little children. This is a pretty cool phone and it does have some nice features. The 2 mp camera isn't all that bad either. It is on the heavy side compared to others but it is built sturdy. My dad (and myself included) don't like to hold our phones completely against our face for fear of getting oils from our skin on our phone, lol. As for fingerprints, easily wiped of. Not that it is prone to it though.

one more thing, it is hard to type buttons on bottom, because of sliding cover, but if you have thin fingers, it will be ok , I think:)

I've had the Luna for exactly a year now, and it's time to replace it. I bought it because of the Nokia 8000 series' legendary build quality. When I got my hands on the phone, I was quite pleased. It felt solid and weighty, and I knew it would last a while. However, the initial impression of quality starts to fade. The stainless steel back is a scratch magnet, and aluminum strip that runs along the side of the phone begins to peal after a while. Several of my friends have had the original 8800 or the Scirocco, and their phones still look like they came fresh out of the box. In addition, the phone tends to heat up (though not so much that you can't use it) when used for extended periods of time. As any other phone, I don't think it's that bad. I thought it compared rather nicely to my previous W850i. As a Nokia 8000 series...it's quite a bit of a let down. The phone isn't as robust as it should be, which makes it hard to justify the price. Of course, it's not all bad. It's got a simple, intuitive interface, the camera's allright, and the slick style (and glowing numbers) never fail to turn heads. Of course, there are plenty of other phones (particularly from Samsung and LG) that grab just as much attention, and manage to cost quite a bit less.

So the conclusion. It's not a bad phone in isolation, but it's difficult to justify the high price. It's a bit like buying a Bentley only to find out it's a Volkswagen underneath...wait...they already do that. But you see my point. The 8800, Scirocco, and Arte all seem to deliver the robust build quality, and attention grabbing looks that the 8000 series promises. This only gives you one half of the equation, therefore it just isn't worth it. So what about that Samsung U900 Soul...

8600 luna well its a phone that must suite you! if you do not want people looking at you while your calling or laying down your phone then dont buy it.
if you want to blend in with the crowd then dont buy it.
BUT if your a stylish man or women and have self respect and self knowledge then this is your phone.
indeed the cam is only 2mp and yes nobody uses the radio on it and no it has no gps no google maps ect, but still it suits me well and it will suite you well as well if you only have the style and the money for it than this is your phone.
if you want exeptional features buy a nokia n95 or n96!

                                      hi,

I was given this phone from my boyfriend, brand new in the box on pay as you go after being pick pocketed on holiday. i had the phone for around 2mounths and found the charging system difficult with the whole usb applicator. after some difficulty with my charging the metal charger bit on the phone started to hang on. i had destroyed the mother bored and i am still waiting to get it bk from repairs a month down the line. the phone it self it quite straight forward nothing special bout memory etc. it looks sexy too its just the charging thats let me down but will all hopefully be okay once received bk from repair. :-)

I had this phone for a year now, here's a few pointers to whomever considers owing one...

The phone was made in Korea - don't really have anything to add to it other than the craftsmanship seems to be ok... not exceptional but ok. As any proud Nokia luxury phone owner I just swing that thing around... so its pretty much a given that the phone gets dropped every once in a while. So far it survived the one year mark, which is exceptional considering my previous experience with the 8800 - which I had to change 4 time in a span of a year and a half. The back cover however is prone to scratches and the black polish eventually fades, revealing the original metallic surface.

reception is more than decent - no problems encountered there.

Battery life is below average but tolerable - the phone lasts for about a day and a half between charges under normal use.

applications and features - lets admit it, whoever buys the phone does not do so because of its "performance capabilities". Its an eye candy for the most part, but it does have some useful features nonetheless. The calculator feature comes pretty handy, so does the alarm clock and the more-or-less decent 2megapixel camera. however, there is only 128MB of built in memory embedded in the phone, so if you're looking to get a media phone I recommend looking somewhere else. the radio feature is also useless as no one ever carries the headset that's required in order to play it.
the phone has what appears to be a set of stereo speakers that are quite loud - definitely a plus if you're planing to blast your ringtone at full volume. I also love the ability to set flash (swf) and animated gifs as your wallpaper -> quite an entertaining and eye catching feature.
application wise, you're able to install whatever suitable applications you can get your hands on. the phone comes with a few games, of which I only liked the casino (holdem). another rather useful application was the converter - a must if you're traveling between Europe and North America.

The bottom line... this phone is an eye candy, if you're into that type of phones, I would definitely recommend getting one as long as you can live with its limitations...

it DOES attract a lot of attention... especially in a semi dark setting because of its "glowing" and very bright display. if you like attention and standing out form the generic crowd this is deffinetly the phone for you.

a final note... is is pretty much the same phone as the 8800 Arte - the main difference being that the Arte has larger storage capacity and and 3 vs 2 megapixel camera. The price difference between the two however is rather substantial... therefore, I would personally choose Luna over the Arte when considering buying one of the phones. As for me, I plan to keep this phone until Nokia releases something new, which should happen within the next year or so.
