I don't think ppl understand the whole idea for the phone being introduced, this phone is design for one purpose, it to have a decent, classy and fashionable phone in hand, not to play about with! Nokia could have upgraded with better software, could off inputted better camera and have better games, but NO they dont want to, because then it will be like others phone in the market, this phone is to dial and recieve call only in a classy fashionable way only. (Phone these days is competing very fast, like having more MegaP, higher memory, MP3 and etc) but this phone is not competing them, is what you called a Mobile Phone with class. this my opinion, thanks. (Ppl who think Vertu is better, ofcos it better for God sake, it using Gold or Platinum casing which cost affortune, but you lots got to understand for the share price of this 8800 is a better phone in the market today).

First and Foremost its a great looking phone. But I think we were all waiting for more than 3 hours talktime and 1 battery and not two...
Must be alot of hassle charging this phone.
Secondly, the Vertu is a designer phone..dont even think it should be used in comparison with the 8800 of the the V3x.

Dear All
Just a point of direction, the Nokia 8800 is a good looking classy phone, with all the feature needed in that phone and more, the whole idea of this phone introduced it's for a better looking and technically a more upgrading phone compared to the others in the market. apart from (Vertus). I was reading though the comments from different people, I don't see the point of arguing, its only a phone at the end of the day. Some like it some don't. by the way i personally don't think that comparing 8800 to vertus is not fair, the better comparison would be the older model like thre 8910i or v3 because they are targeted in the same group, thanks.

Anyway this phone 8800 is target to fashionable and business class, ppl who don't like it can stay away from this phone, On the other hand ppl who like this phone but want to know more about it's advantages. and disadvantage about stay in this website. Ppl who still on about the Vertu or think the know it all can go home and dream on about purchasing this phone about hey no they can afford it that why they are saying bad thing about this phone.

We all totally agree with ianfrey(the smart guy).
The coward un-named guy who always argue with ianfrey about this 8800 sound stupid and naive to all of us here in front of the computer.
We are the smart American group, and we all do not need a heavy; "NO" feature phone like this 8800 ... our American Motorola V3 is much better looking & use a much better material (Aircraft grade aluminum instead of cheap steel).

Hey guys, u don't have to argue whether it will be vertu or nokia 8800, as far as for my opinion, it will still depend on your lifestyle status, if you're an executive or someone who prefer a stylish and an executive-look phone, without spending a lot of cash, better buy a nokia 8800. But if you're really just want to spend your bulky cash in your pocket , buy a vertu. Just a cons, someday your phone will also depreciate because of the internal software built in to it, the only valuable thing will left on vertu is the external casing, and it still depends on what kind of steel you buy, if it's a gold or platinum, it is valuable, but if it just a stainless steel, i dont think it will still be useful someday, so just to be practical. beauty and executive look need not be expensive. :) post your comments now on my opinion! :)

what the 8800 is to other nokia phones, the vertu is to the 8800. for example, this nokia phone is the only one (as far as i know) to ship with two batteries, a lovely carry case, desk stand etc - your standard 6xxx, 3xxx and even 7xxx phones just come with a plug and instruction book. that's one way in which the 8800 is a slightly more luxury item. also, let's not forget the TWO year service which comes with the 8800.
on the other hand, the vertu's concierge service is something that the 8800 obviously lacks, and it isn't a surprise. ok, the 8800 is a piece of jewellery with its scratch resistant screen and solid stainless steel body, when you compare it with a 6680 or something. but yet again, the vertu is a much greater and more real piece of jewellery than the 8800; with carefully fixed leather set upon either genuine gold maybe, or even platinum (!), of course it stands out from the 8800, or any other phone.

I agree, the vertu is totally aimed at the most elite ppl, the A class so to speak. The 8800 is however a very classy phone and I think it will be popular in Australia for the elite community as the vertu is pretty unheard of here. In terms of looks, i would myself prefer the 8800...

I have to disagree with that, there is no comparison between Nokia 8800 and Vertus. Nokia 8800 is totally targeted to a different market segment, where ppl can afford it in the med class. About the comparison with the casio and gucci it was only an exmaple!
Anyway to make my point more clear, 8800 is target to social grading C maybe B, Vertus is target to social grading 'A', so there is no comparison, because they are not in the same social grading targeted, do you understand.

First of all, I'm not an American, I'm British, and bloody proud of it!
I can understand your argument, to a certain extent, however, I think that you have chosen the wrong comparisisons.
My Nike running trainers (used just for running) cost £120, Prada trainers cost £175, the difference is negligible! And as for Casio, they are far better than Gucci, at least Casio make a watch that serves a purpose, Gucci use a rubbish quartz movement, that impresses no one. They dont even look good, cheap materials and over priced. (not inculding Tom Ford's designs, naturally).
There is a comparison between Nokia and Vertu.. Nokia are pitching the phone at people who, if you read the posts, own Patek Philipe, wear Spencer Hart and Interno8 and drive the A8 (because its not BMW and not as pretentious as an Aston Matin). Do you understand the demographic? Its the same as Vertu's!!

It seem that people in the USA don't really like this phone, and keep on comparing it to the vertu, if that the case you lot are so stupid especially DT, anyway, is like comparing casio to gucci or nike to prada, this answer is you can't make that comparison, can you get that through you brain, the vertu is £3000 and Nokia is only £600 there no comparison and that it.
