I was at a store today in australia, the store reps contact at head office said end of july in store if it passes telstras verification test. so prob another month. I have no idea of the price but expect about $1600 aud if its sibling the 8910i is anything to go by.

Dont forget what you are paying for. You will be seen between the masses!! This is the main objecive of this device. If you cant offord it then you are not inbetween targeted demographics.

I wouldnt have hesitated one single moment if it got one card slot.

Nokia will relesae the revised modell as they have done earlyier with 8910i. I read that Nokia has already prepared this.

I am so disappointed that Nokia didnt manage to incorporate latest technology and design
to distinguish this piece as State of Art. Same story line for 8910:-(((

I went into a 'Phones 4U' store yesterday and asked what the price would be...
On a £40 per month (or there abouts) the phone would cost around £200. On an upgrade however, I would looking at £449!!!

I know it looks great and has quite a good set of features but it’s not even made of a particular metal, like the 8910 had a cover made of titanium. Nokia have a long way to go if they want to make the poor man's Vertu.

Dream on. The price will stay high until they stop the line. Its a show off piece.

I've had this phone for 4 days now, and I am rather pleased with my purchase. Its definitely a great looker, and and as solid as a brick. However, what is worth mentioning is that the top right naviagtion key is not as rigid as the left, and lacks a tacticle touch. This gives it a very squishy feeling. Upon discussions with Nokia, mobile phone dealers and other users of the 8800,I discovered that this was mainly because of the phone's construction and design. According to Nokia India, becasue the gap in between the right key is more than the left key from the lil drum that works as a finger rest when opening the phone, this problem would be there in all the handsets...!
Moving onto the software, the only word that comes to mind is very stable. This phone unlike my o2i is yet to restart or hang. Its also alot faster as compared to the one found on the V3 & V6. The camera has a resolution of 0.5k and is suprisingly capable of taking some very good pics. The desk charger is very well finished, and has the option of charging along with the phone, a spare battery that comes as an accessory in the phones standard package. The sound quality of the speaker however could have been better, even on maximum, its low, making it particulalrly hard to listen to the other party when making a call from a crowded room. To sum it up, the Nokia 8800 is a great looking phone, as long as one can cope with the above mentioned problems.

in rpmania the phone is 920 euros in a store and 850 on the black market. i'll buy the phone when it will be 300 euros - that's around this year's Christmass, the same price history was with motorola v3 razor - at first on the black market in december it was 800 euros and now it's 270 euros! :))) i think i can wait till Christmass - and it will be a great gift for me! p.s. class and design are excelent on this phone. i am a fan of the 8 series from nokia - i had 8210, 8310, 8850, 8910, 8910i, and the nicest phone till now for me is the nokia 8910. i own a samsung d500 now - it's a nice phone, very good quality, but i still like the 8910 in black color.

I own a V3. A good phone BUT the synchronising software Mobile Phone Tools to synchronise Outlook Contacts and Calendar is not only primitive but also defective. You may check the forum at www.bvrp.com to have an idea. I am thinking of dumping V3 for 8800. Anyone have problems synchronising Nokia phones with Outlook?

This phone will be available through official UK distribution channels on Friday the 24th of June. The SIM Free retail price will be between £420-£500+VAT depending on where you go for a UK licensed and warrantied product. We'll have in in stock on Friday. I doubt Ebay sellers either have the real item yet (they are speculating on launch models) or they are doggy grey imports.

what a nice phone bought it as a replacement for my 8910 because the sliding mechanism was broken.

                                  It has everything i need.

cons: ringing volume is too soft
sliding mechanism (i wonder how long it will work)
                                  camera quality is bad
                                  no memory card slot

will post later for the quality!

Built with the same quality and materials as surgical instruments and watches....how can you resist? A design delight and innovation. Yes, we know, there are many phones out there with more or better features, but, NONE of them look or feel as good as this. When I bought the 8890 about 3 years ago, I knew it could be som much more...then when I saw the 8910, you saw once again that Nokia was aiming to please it's clientele who appreciate an incredibly well designed gem....and here it is...the 8800. Thanks Nokia...my search is over.

I like this phone as "it is" but my complains are :

                                        1. ring volume is too soft
                                        2. the D-Pad is up to press for Up and Down, always pressing 2 instead of Down.
                                        3. bottom last 3 buttons also hard to press

                                        Grrrrrrrr
