Its a show stopper, unique design, good but not great features. Some people pay $500 dollars for a pair of jeans now days. For those that can buy it, buy it. Keep saving, keep wishing you had it.

I have purchased the 8800 phone but having problem with Voice. When I make a call, the other party can hear me clearly but I cannot hear the voice clearly, it is very feable. I could not locate the menu option for increasing the volume nor any help from the User guide.
My call to Nokia Customer Care is of no use .. they do not even understand the problem.

the best similarity with this phone is : A FERRARI WITH THE ENGINE OF A WOLKSVAGEN GOLF DIESEL - very very nice exterior - i like it better than the vertu ascent or signature models- but in the interior it's a nightmare. it's like those nicely wraped Barbie dolls that my little girl asks for in a store - vevry very nicely packed but insight no more than a poor rubber doll with the concept of 20 century toys, same is this phone - i went to a store in my town, with the money in my hand and a big stupid smile on my face , eager to clain the latest toy. when i turned the phone on it's like a nokia 6100 with a poor camera, nothing more, nothing sensational, nothing to make me say - wow! at last i have found you my little precious (that Lord-of-the-rings-like sentence). so i sayed ''no, thank you!!!''. if you want to make a nice impression, buy a nice car, have a nice girlfriend or two. botton line - A FERRARI WITH THE ENGINE OF A GOLF.

Nokia sent out an email to its Australian clients on Jun 21st say the phone was in store now. But according to Nokia Careline the phone hasn't been released. Nokia has no idea when - so why send out that email ???
Nokia get your act together or you have lost a customer !

Not worth to own it-over price, too expensive and I can buy almost three sets of 6230i but 6230i is three times better this 8800.
Nice to see but most of the time we put the phone in the pocket or pouch. No point pay so much for a phone that not practical.
Go for the best and the very best-Nokia 6230i. I never seen any phoone today can beat the ultimate 6230i and maybe not at all.
I have tried many times convincing myself to try other brand top models but in the end still go back to 6230 initially and now 6230i. WORLD BEST! SALUTE TO NOKIA THAT MAKE SUCH A PERFECT PHONE IN THE WORLD.

How come everytime I send an operator logo to the phone the sending fails? This has never happened before on any other Nokia phone I've had ... Is there a certain restriction on this one for some reason? Thanks ...

A business associate send me a 8800 as a present the day before; I used it for a day but I do not like it ... Namely:- lousy features, sound & speaker sound no good & too quiet, the keypad too small & hence difficult to press(especially the #0*), too heavy & the finishing or manufacturing standard is low !!!
Conclusion :- really quite a piece of rubbish !!!

How do you activate the voice commands for the radio while you're listening to it? I saved some commands for the radio such as 'on', 'off', 'previous channel' and 'next channel', but when I'm actually on the radio there is no option for activating those commands ... Does anyone know how to do it?
Thanks in advance ...

Outside OK inside not OK , no expansion slot, no megapixel cam, gprs class 8, definitely not worth the price, Nokia must improve it with the "i" model

I have just got one of these on O2 in the UK. I paid £90 on upgrade however my monthly bills are usually ablut £200 so i do recieve a big discount.
Yes, it looks fantastic and lets face it, thats its primary function.
First thing you will notice is that the display is very, very good.
Syncronisation with outlook through bluetooth is very easy. The same can be said about for all features of the Nokia PC suite.
Only issue i have so far is that the desk charger does not seem to charge the handset, only the spare battery. If i take the spare battery out it stil does not charge the handset. I've got a replacement on the way that will hopefully resolve this.

1.let me just say that this phone is extremely HEAVY!(metal casing or not metal casing - cant remember the last time i held such a heavy mobile phone) i bought it about a week ago and already am not use to the weight.
2.buttons (especially the navigation button) are too small even for my average sized fingers.
3.class wise? i think the razr v3 in black is definitely sexier (although its features may be inferior) - but we are talking about it being sexy here.
4.bottomline? definitely would not regret buying the phone... IF it was cheaper. but its not cheap at all - hence i do regret, and i would probably be going back to my razr v3 (black)
cheers

My brother in-law has always been a Nokia fan(so are most people in Hong Kong). He took his 8800 with him on his business trip & came back saying that the phone is not as good as he expected. He also said that the phone is not worth what he paid for!

had a play with the 8800 today (nokia reps came to work), and i must say this is a VERY impressive phone. Smaller than i imagined, and also a little heavier which adds to the overall feel of the phone which is one of real quality. The slide mechanism is solid and the phone gives you the impression that if you dropped it it would leave a dent in the floor, not the phone!
Menu system is a joy to use and the animations are really good.
But at £250 to upgrade or buy on a £30/month tarif it is a tad expensive...
my rating 9.5/10
