Nokia has to launch different kinds of phones to cater to the different segmentations of the consumer market. Different market in different regions require specific phones for specific situations/environments/circumstances. While it may look normal to some, at least, it is a good start for parents to get their young kids to use a simple mobile phone. As they grow up, they can progress to better phones with cameras or 3G capabilities. When they've found their identity at an older age, they might want to use Nokia fashion phones or business phones.
Every phone that Nokia churns out serves a different demographic profile. So while most of you may be quick to shoot down this model, you're just making a mockery of your education and intellectual capabilities. Put some thought into why some stuff are designed that way and yet still well-received by a percentage in the market, cause they need it. If its clear that there'll be no take-up for this model, it won't be launched in the first place.

Great looking phone. Worth waiting for as a replacement for 8910i. More look like 8810. Reckon would be expensive but lack of some feature like >1MP and RSMMC. But this is a boutique phone targeting at high end customer who just want the look but don't even know what is symbian. This would be a hot model for at least 1/2 to 1 year. But would likeit to have more memory and >1MP.

Who the hell cares if it doesn't have that good a camera?? Its a phone for gods sake! Im sick of all these phones with heaps of features but they suck at the basic function of being a phone! Get a digitial camera if you want to take photos!
And as for this phone being big like someone said - it isn't big at all! Its the same size as most bar Nokias which is smaller than a good majority of other brand phones, esp flip phones.
I can't wait till this phone comes out. I was kicking myself for not getting a 8910i but I'm definitely going to get this one!
Im so glad Nokia is continuing to bring out stylish phones like this one. Makes a change from all the teeny bopper plastic crap that is around at the moment!

i think this phone looks good,but i wouldn't buy one,for more than one reasons;aniway let's be onest,the 8XXX fashoin/luxury series were always very expensive,so would 8800 be any diferent?the camera is indeed bad,but then again were taling about a luxury phone,not an IMAGING phone(if u want good pictures buy an Nokia 6630),there some interesting functions..so one on top of the other for a luxury phone Nokia 8800 get's my vote

Just some questions and comments...
Firstly, is it just me, or does some of the pictures show the LCD portion slide up, and others show the traditional (8890) style, keypad cover slide down. I'm confused.
2. why would you have such a nice looking phone with a high price tag.. and a crappy camera? It's not that it's that useful anyway, it's the principle of it. 0.5mp?? i seriously hope that's a typo... if it isn't, hmmmmm....
3. why no expansion slots? Such as the Razr... ya buy it, and the newer one comes out 5 months later with everything u complain about not having.
4. I'm still wondering the what warrants such a high price tag??

i think its nice, i have had all the previous models in this range, i own a MDA compact at the moment,i also have sharp 902 which makes no sense to buy this but you know as well as i do this phone will dominate the market for some time, like its ancestors, so would you get one, i would i like to have the best there is, so i my view YES its nice,YES it looks great,YES its the better version or the latest version of the 8810,8910,8910i, so can some one tell me the price.

THis is a great phone...better than motorolas or sony ericcsons...isn't it strange that asian people, especially from singapore, use phones to compensate for smaller other things?..weird

another piece of crap from Nokia, old phones with new clothes and a few funcions +. And the price ... ooooohhh ... the price ... no comment ...2 X real value of the phone because the brand is Nokia ... if the same phone was made by another company the price of this piece of metal was 30-40% lower. byte me if i'm wrong

the old titanium peice of crap was so stupid i had a customer drop it and the pohone was fine but the screen smashed into millions of peices

Mate. the phone is like another version of the 8810. Whats gonna happen? because of the metal design?... drop outs? low reception? I would be expecting the camera to have a 1 MP, but for that price, still unavalible. I would believe only rich people, or people that does insurance claims for the 8910i would end up with this phone... whats the bet?

what is nokia trying do n why why why most of their phones are turning into ladies phone n fashion pnones n now this metal piece n i think the nokia share holders r mostly women n 7280 the lipstick phone n many more r tuning into ladies pleasure n excuse me for this because my friends are using ladies phones n r they gays or what because i am scared i might change into 1 if nokia produce this type of phones n lucky me my sauage n 2 eggs still can stand if not have to join my friends n have u people heard of virgin mobile n only virgin boys n gals allowed to sign up mobile plan n those who married go to starhub/s,tel/m1/ incoming free n out going must pay n bye bye bye
