Evo, My best advise for you, is to take your phone to a Nokia Care Center, it is possible that the battery is worn out and need a replacement. By the way, desktop chargers for models 8800 and 8801 are the same, the only difference between the phones is the frecuency of operation. Regards.

is the phone stand charger the same for both 8800 and 8801?

My cousin is coming from asia and I think they sell the charger there cheaper than here... Just wondering if they work.

Hi Evo, It is not normal that the battery drains that fast, perhaps you are not using the appropiate charger, look for the original and recomended by the manufacturer. Other option is to let it charge overnight before buying a new battery, they are expensive. Under normal use a bettry should last about two or three days. Don't forget to turn off the bluetooth option.

I've hand the nokia 8800 for a month now and I am very pleased with it. The so much criticised battery lasts for 2 days on normal use (phone calls, text messages) without any problems and the charging time is quite short. I haven't encountered the problem of the phone switching off when there were 2 more battery lines left, and I've used it to the last line without any problems.
I read posts from people complaining about the sound quality on their handset, but I've had no such problems with mine, on the contrary, I can say that the sound is loud and cristal clear, significantly better than with other phones I've had in the past.
The signal is very good and without fluctuations. I have a signal on my phone even in remote places where other phones don't work.
Also, the sliding mechanism works flawlessly.
Indeed, the camera on this phone is modest, but to me that's not such a big inconvenient as I don't use it anyway.
One can argue that the phone lacks certain features other phones have, at a lower price. On the other hand, if the user didn't buy it to use it as a camera or mp3 player, I think there is nothing to complain about on this phone. It works excellently.
All in all I'm very happy with this phone. I think the elegant design and stainless steel cover set it apart and on the quality of its functions is undisputable.

i cannot believe my good fortune to find one just lying around when i went to the park to walk my boss' dog. who could anyone be so careless as to lose a jewel like this? i just ignored the calls then changed the sim, voila, i have a new mobile with the status that comes with it. now i stand tall and proud, people stare whenever i take it out to sms or call. unfortunately, i still don't have a girlfriend. but who cares? people now respect me, hah!

The phone has really poor battery life. I am on my second one due to a fault where they turn themselves off mid call. The retailer said he has replaced a few with the same problem. The software upgrade does not fix these problems.

i have had my phone since january and it has never crashed, never dropped a call, rarely loses its signal and still makes me feel good everytime i take it out of my pocket ,open the slider and hear the metallic 'snap' as it opens.
there are a couple of light scratches on the body that can be polished out, however the scratch resistant glass screen has stayed just as new. (i started out with a screen protector on it for 2 months before i realised i just didnt need it and it spoiled the effect of the glass screen).

to sum up - awesome phone !

After viewing this forum since few months I decided to post my personal opinion about this phone. I was so confused reading all the negative review posted here that it took me about 6 months until I bought this phone. Here are my comments:
General opinion - To me it is 100% sure that 8800 wasn’t developed as a high tech phone and that is why I’m wondering why most of the people are complaining about camera, memory card slots and other functionality that have nothing to do with the reason that drove Nokia to develop this gadget.
                            Important issues:
Software - I agreed that Nokia began the sales of 8800 with very bad software versions, but this issue no longer exists and current version are stable enough and don’t cost serious problems anymore.
Battery - One of the serious questions is the battery life, yes it is not great, but believed or not the phone is capable of 2 up to 3 hours of phone conversation a day. This is possible only in case that first 3 / 4 charge and discharge cycles are made properly.
Camera - I will not make any comments because I thing this phone will be much better without any camera at all.
Signal and quality during the conversation – I thing it is very good, I tried my phone at several places that signal is very bad and to tell you the truth I’m completely satisfied. The audio quality is clear, crisp and vivid.
Sound – My main complains is the fact that the sound of the melody / MP3 or AAC / is not loud enough, I can hear it, but still some extra “strength” would be very useful. The same about the hands free speaker, still not loud enough.
My conclusion – Yes, 8800 is expensive, Yes it is not high tech phone, but the quality of materials, the design and the feeling when you take the phone in your hands are something that I can’t explain. One word only, different class. I’m sure this phone is not a just a phone it is a kind of jewel, something like expensive watch for instance. In case somebody is not able to understand that I strongly recommend…don’t buy this phone at any price, it is not for you.

Well the updated ver of firmware is 3.9 but I don't think just a software upgading can enhance the full functionality of a battery or cell phone
