This phone is cool but they gave us 2 batteries to last 1 day each. Display is bright and overall impression is that of a solid fone and well built.

i dunno why so many ppl here says that the design is nice.. i think T610 has a better design. to those of you who do not know will simply think that T610 is just brick. To those who has hold the phone and feel the edge wouldn't even say that it is brick because it is actually curved slightly at the edge and it has no straight line at all. In my opinion, that is the true masterpiece in design. This phone is just too simple in terms of idea.

I am looking forward to purchaseing a 8910I before I realized that it would not work in The U.S. I now have my eye on this beuty , the 8800. I can't beleive they don't have a version of the 8910I that supports GSM bands in America. =(

            Ty,

What kind of hospital do you work in where you can carry a cell phone which is turned on around in??? That doesn't make any sense...

By the way, I don't know why everyone is so down on Ty's "soapopera" stories on here...although I do use this site for info on my 8800, I find his comments entertaining!

            Cheers!

Well surprise.... another post from Ty with absolutely nothing about the 8800. Yes the phone is expensive, so are many things. In all reality wealth is not measured by how flash your phone is or how many cars or houses you have, this is just money. If you aspire to these things only you will be nothing but poor. I know plenty of people who are a lot more 'comfortable'than you and they measure their wealth not in how much money they have but in the relationships they have with people. The internet is full of sites for lonely and sad people like yourself. Out of the twenty or so posts you have made there has been little or no information about the nokia 8800, its funtionality, its design or your experience with it. People use this site for information on mobile phones not your life. Fact. The phone is expensive, thats what price tags are for. What I'm interested in is what people think of this phone not their life story.

The nokia 8800 is a good looking beautifully made mobile phone, but is short battery life really lets it down. A mobile phone is not much use if it runs out of battery when you need it. In saying that the phone feels great and looks fantastic, if this is what you are looking for in phone its hard to go pass the 8800....

I just came back home from Europe after my business meeting in Praha & Amsterdam.

I do not notice any 8800 for sale; nor even display in any shop in Praha. What they do have is the new SE-D750 in light grey colour(looked exactly the same as the K750/W800).

When I was in Amsterdam, I went into a Nokia shop to ask for the price of the 8800 & if they have any in stock so that I can buy one to see if it has the same software problem as my previous four. The Nokia sales told me there is absolutely no 8800 available!

Anyway, I picked up my 5th 8800 this evening (I live in Hong Kong). I played around with it(to use up the battery & to test & set up the phone) & noticed there is still same software problem as with the other four I had previously owned!!!

What is wrong with Nokia nowadays??? This phone was out for more than 3 long months already & stupid Nokia do not even do any upgrade to the 8800. SHAME ON NOKIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just read with amusement some of the comments about my being "rich".

Of course the 8800 is expensive. Of coure not everyone can afford it. But that is simply the nature of a free economic society.

I - as well as many people on this site - are comfortable. But it's all relative. I have friends that have two vacation homes instead of one. I have friends that own four cars instead of three. I have friends with an airplane in additon to a boat. I have friends that no longer have to work, as I do.

In summary, it's all relative. If you can afford the 8800, feel good about it. I remember when I didn't have enough money to buy a meal when I put myself through med school. I make no apologies for success, and neither should you.

Don't put people down for getting what they want. If you work hard enough you too can get what you want - even the Nokia 8800!

Re: Nice phone, shame about features, Vodafone stop selling?!

Well what can I say…. I really wanted this phone, not because of the functions, but just because it is simple and looks amazing. I don’t use the functions such as a radio, mp3 player camera etc, so this phone was perfect for me.

However I received the phone the other day on vodafone, and while I was impressed with the quality of build, the looks, the simpleness of the phone, it just didn’t hold up on its basic functions!

The main problems I found where,
The ear volume is a massive problem. You have to turn it up to full volume to hear someone perfectly, which then causes distortion. And when you having a conversation this is very annoying, as u can’t hear what they are saying due to audio distortion. A real pain.
The other problem I found like a lot of other people is the battery life! Firstly I like to say I charged the phone for 10 hours the first time it, trying to condition the life on it. But when I made two phone calls at about 5 mins in duration each, after a nights charging, I lost all battery to one bar!!!!!!!!! That is the worst battery life I have ever seen. Maybe if I gave it a few weeks to condition it may have improved, but who knows!

The keys are close together, but u do get used to it. After 24 hours I was used to it, but still found that using the star key was the worst, because it is trapped in the corner and I text with my right fingers.

So I decided that after paying a bit of money for it, it was not worth my while. I called vodafone and cancelled it who where very helpful and they did tell me that the batch of phones my came from was the last batch vodafone where getting due to so many different problems, returns and value for money! So not sure what’s going to happen there now!

To sum up it’s a wicked phone, looks amazing and feels great. It does not have all the latest functions, but if you’re like me u don’t want them. Its been marketed to people who don’t want the functions, so I cant fault it there. But the simple functions it should hold (ESP for businessmen etc who may call a lot of people), it fails in its operation.

Anyhow that’s all from me. If u like to know more, write a comment and I get in touch with my email address.
                                Regards Andy

I think we can conclude then that with this phone you have a stunning looking phone which you're swopping for less functionality

Thats cool if its what you're looking for. The simplicity and slick style of the phone is what Nokia are marketing it on.

Think of it as choosing between a lady with great assets but not so much grey matter or a digestive biscuit lady with a mind like einstein, your choice!

who needs infra-red though? if you've got inbuilt bluetooth, or a dongle, with your computer then this phone actually works incredibly well.

i've got one of these and to be honest, i don't care about the camera resolution, the lack of mp3 facilities, or anything else that people will complain about. the fact is that barely anyone has this, it's absolutely incredible to look at - just like a rolex, or other piece of eye candy. certain essential functionality like battery life or speaker volume hasn't at all been a problem for me, so i wouldn't swap it for any other phone.
