The reception of the 8800 is kind of weak, definately weaker than the Motorola V3 or SE 750/800.
The signal strength bars are not trustworthy either because they are not accurate(not even close to accurate!)

After experiencing with owning a total of 4 (four) 8800, I am giving up on this phone. I am selling my fourth one (3 days old only) tomorrow ... so you guys can imagine how disappointed I am with the 8800.

My conclusion :- To be polite, 8800 is not a good phone except the look! To be rude, 8800 sucks!...excuse my language, I am really pissed!

i think you mixed up with 6230i..since 6230i has 1,3 megapixel camera and has similar feature to 8800

          to sango:

the camera is not a megapixel camera, its SVGA camera (800X600) or 0.5 megapixel. If you are looking for megapixel camera you are looking at the wrong phone. 6230i, N90, W800i, K750i, Z800, N91, 7610, S700, 6630, 6680, N70, D500, D600 are megapixel camera.. also some others that i don't mention here.

                Please make sense!!!!!!
I doubt if anyone is stupid enough to believe that any 8800 with the standard battery can last for 4 - 7 days!!!!!!!

hi,,,8800 no no...i think u never used 8800 be4..honestly, i got this fone more than 7 weeks, from vodafone online, be4 Aug the handset is free on £75 tariff. my fone is great. even the standby time, people complain 2 short. they definitely charged not enough at the 1st 3times. i charged more than 10 hours at 1st 3 days. now perfect can at stay 4-7days using only 1 battery. maybe u r not lucky, got a trouble fone from store. if u still doubt, u can give me ur email address, i will post u my mobile photos..

i have 8800 and w800i both, i dont know y people prefer w800i, actually w800i function is okey, but quality and material is absolutely poor, i have sold my w800i. otherwise i know couple of japanese, even they use nokia fone, they never use sony ericsson, and they said nokia is the best in mobile, ibm is the best in pc. they just sell their product 2 us making money. occupy our market, replace our eu product. so definitely we should support nokia and moto....they r worlds no1 and 2..they r the best........

i don't know why there are ppl who still prefer 8800 over w800. I already check both phones in my hand. And personally i still prefer w800 in every aspects and every features. But you are rite eu support, the material for w800 is not that good, the one that i have a look at is already dirty. After all, it is just a matter of material, yet if you change the casing for w800, it won't cost as much as 8800. Steel will get rust after sometime.
Do the japanese use 8800? if they use nokia phones.. i do not bother as long as it isn't the 7 series, because nokia phones are good except for this one and the 7 series.
Btw, about never using sony ericsson i will agree with that though, check at the w800 forum.. so many ppl having w800 as their first sony ericsson as their switch from nokia :) ---> whats that mean ha? something happening with nokia lately?

hiya. i work for a phone company and we are constantly out of stock, i dont know why, its an aweful phone. we have had nearly 50% returned within the 1st 2 weeks due to faults with the softwear and also the slider breaking. if you have the money to purchase this mobile, dont, wait for the Nokia N91 its AMAZING or even wait a bit longer for the Nokia 8800i

haha pc9113.. i agree with you.. nokia phones are best only the phone before 6600 and 6600 itself, 6630 and 6680 is ok. but after that they just rubish. Look at those 7 series.. none of them are decent phone. They look really really daggy. This phone is the worst among others (not really if it cost like $500?) it just overprice.. anyone who get this phone just ppl who want to waste money (rather dumb and not wise). I just check the W800 today, the design looks better if you see the actual phone rather than simply look at the picture. good on you mate.. you are not a brand ambassador like others.. you really open yourself. I was a nokia user too, but my last nokia phone are the generation before they have the color phone one, a really old one. Now i use sony ericsson, and since then i prefer sony ericsson more than nokia. Btw, N90 is not too bad though, its pretty good actually, just a bit too big for my pocket, which is the sort of phone that i really really avoid. N91 cool in features but the design is really ugly.
