aamerj2007,
Thank you for the information, but the noise has got nothing to do with the sensor, it's definately a quality issue(confirmed by my service provider's shop manager)!

I picked up my 4th 8800 Arte yesterday but only have the time to set up the phone a short while ago. I noticed a terrible squeeky sound when I press the end key/the right hand side 'soft key'. This is the same sound I had with my previous '2nd' 8800 Arte's slider ... which was the reason I had to exchange for the 3rd hand set!!!
This was what I meant by lousy 'QUALITY CONTROL' in my comment below!
Nokia should really attend to this matter!!!

I'm using both the 8800 Arte & Motorola V9 at the same time. The material Nokia use on the 8800 Arte is very good but the build quality; or more precise, the manufacturing 'quality control' is not quite up to standard!!!
As compared to the Motorola V9; I'm surprised to find that the Moto is better built even though the 8800 Arte is 3 times the price of the V9!!!
Regarding usage-wise, the Moto V9 is a lot more user-friendly in almost every respect.
I'm on my 4th 8800 Arte in 2 months' time, cause the other three have hardware/software issue so I kept on having to take my phones bck to Nokia for exchange!!!

I've purchased this phone for about 3days, and all I can say that it's perfect. However, I have problem with its openning. Unlike, the original 8800, Luna, and Sirocco there is no place that you can push it up to open it!!

I've had Arte phone for 3 weeks now. I think is a great phone. Its unique design and style. I dont personally believe any phone is worth more than £500 off line, but this phone is an exception.

Ok so its made with "nice materials" does that mean it needs to be so expensive? I don't think people are bagging this phone because they are jelous of it, because they will never be able to afford it or because they "just can't have it" They are bagging it because it doesn't DO anything. Will those luxurious materials protect it when you drop it? When it gets wet? I doubt it.
And phone insurance won't cover that. So then what?
I can see the replies to this after... "You are just jelous cos you can't afford it" Well of course I can't afford it it's so overpriced, and even if I could afford to spend this much on a phone I wouldn't, I would put the money towards something more practical. Anyone who pays that much for THIS needs to pay more taxes and feed some homeless
