This fone is a " premium " handset. Its not as said before for people who use their handsets for music or gaming.
Its price reflects the market Nokia intends this fone for.
If you have to ask the price of the fone then its not for you !
You either love or hate the 8 series.
Pro's and Con's are really down to personal taste.

Absolutely feels great holding this phone!....nothing like it, not even those Vertu!
Excellent hardware but software of Nokia phones sucks!!!
Loud sound & top quality handsfree speaker phone is a Nokia advantage.

To the people below me who asked
Questions-
aren't the 8800's the same every year just a different cover?
and does it work well with just the tri band, instead of quad band?
Answer-
No they are completely differant everytime they introduce a new 8800 series, te first one was titanium and a terrible screen...the arte 8800 is 16million color screen, bigger screen, scratch reistant glass, accelerometer and much more...hopefully that will show you that nokia steps it up everytime.
Yes it is true that tri band doesnt work as well as a quad band, but i have a arte on at&t and i get service everywhere, i get service in some places where my blackberry curve didnt, so dont worry about getting the best reception...
let me know if you guys have anymore questions or concerns.
Thanks

is it true it does not work well in the US because of triband as opposed to quadband? Please, if there is someone that can answer with a technical explanation it would be greatly appreciated.

How many models of 8800 are there in total? How come i've been seeing the same models over and over again every year? Isnt it the same phone with a nice metallic or titanium cover...just that the casing simply improves by a little.Comeon NOKIA, MORE of n96 models pls!!

I haven't had any issues with overheating when using the phone. When on charge it does get slightly hotter but nothing to worry about!
This phone is essentially a 6300 with a slightly better camera and a much nicer casing. That being said, if all you want is a decent phone with features that are actually usable and essential then you really can't do any better if you're prepared to pay the price. And in my opinion its worth paying, rather than having the same phone as everyone else on the planet!

George,
I have a arte regular, and have had a sirocco there is no comparison the arte is amazing with all the little things, (scratch resistant glass, flip to mute, tap the bottom for clock...)
the arte saphire has a jewel and thats really the only differance besides the leather and brown color which i do not like.
let me know if you have any more questions
