Thandiswa Ngobe, 18 Nov 2020Why does it not have whatsapp .The Nokia 201 and 210 used to have What’s app and Facebook, but they were server apps - downloaded from Nokia’s servers when you wanted to use them.
The phone operating system was Symbian, a very stable platform, developed originally by the makers of Psion PDAs, but never developed to enable powering of a proper smartphone. When Nokia teamed up with Microsoft Symbian was discontinued, In 2018, I think, Nokia discontinued the servers and the apps no longer worked. A number of other useful server based apps also no longer worked. I used mine for internet browsing with Opera8, but that seems flakey nowadays, possibly because internet servers don’t support simple browsers any more. Also the email app hasn’t worked for me for nearly a year.
Still a useful phone for calls, texts and the super and simple calendar app. These phone are 2G only. However 2G will outlast 3G, which is gradually being switched off.
