We bought the phone for our son, because it was cheap enough for 9 ears old kid. Seems like that is also the target market for this phone, because it is too basic for any serious use.
What put me off is that even the very basic things like alarm clock, are poorer than in any previous phone I have used in many years. For example, the aforementioned alarm clock only has one alarm time and it's not possible to set different times for each weekday for example. This doesn't work well with schooldays which doesn't start at the same time each day.
You can download more applications from the Nokia store, but the quality or quantity is not close to those offered to iPhone or Android. Then again, the price of the phone is on a different level too.
Overall, a nice phone for your kid, if you don't want to compromise losing a more expensive phone on some playground. If you happen to lose it by the way, there is no gps and tracking software as can be found from the models with iOS or Android installed.

TANZIE, 18 Jan 2013i have NOKIA Asha 311......... a nice phone, but i am havin... moreyeah my asha 311 restart itself sometimes but like one or two in a month. I would recomend you scan your phone and memory card and/or soft reset. Works for me

i have NOKIA Asha 311......... a nice phone, but i am having a problem..... it "TURNS OFF" automatically especially when i am chatting to a friend (arghh), and one more thing screen also got stuck a few times.
Has anyone encountered such problem???
I don't wanna tell this to my parents or they'll be angry that i don't take care of my things.
HELP ANYONE!!!

Re: high end, they have their "own". They just got the wrong CEO who keeps on shoving Lumia dumbphones.

i have update my asha 311 to 5.92. The touch improved and connection to apps inproved and no apps is missing and added a few new apps like nimbuzz ,notification etc. Only downside is cancel in connection is not function. That's all.

in 2012 nokia introduced a new segment...ie, asha 305,306,308 and 311...
segment means...Nokia thinks all touch screen phones are SMART PHONES...or they think...smart phone means only touch screen is needed..
check the screen resolution, its features, price etc..and just compare with galaxy pocket atleast...find which is best...
on that we can understant why Nokia is strugling....its nothing..only because of their idiot products...No one can make the customers fool in every time..Nokia must understant that one first..
