AnonD-111782, 16 May 2013Hpw much multi tasking would expect with 64 mb ram nokia e6... moreThose were symbian phones. Nokia optimizzed things for Asha Platform, which is based on the acquired firm Smarter Phone.

Its the same thing as Android needs more memory than WP OS. Ofcourse Android is opensource and has more chances of improvement by community (Custom ROMs) but unfortunately its developement over the years had made it bulky.

Dear NOKIA... Do continue this type of devices based on Nokia Asha Software Platform.. just few suggestions for smarter feature phones under a huge brand-name "NOKIA"

                      1. Dual SIM - GSM/CDMA (My personal & only priority)
                      2. 3.7 - 4.0 inch capacitive multi-touch screen
                      3. 3G & WiFi-enabled
                      4. 5MP rear AF camera with LED flash + VGA/1.3MP front camera
                      5. GPS enabled
                      6. 1500 mAh battery capacity
                      7. Around 256 MB RAM
                      8. Price - in the range of Rs 8000-10,000/-

If this combination becomes available, people will forget the Android, WP, iOS phones for day-to-day use..

Actually people need these type of smart feature phones.. they are happy with this specs but buy huge-spec-phones to comment on such blogs.. to show off only...

I love the new music playback battery life stat, thanks GSMArena. I'm about to replace my old mp3 player and I'm actually considering this asha. This is cheap, has long playback, expandable memory and more features than a standard mp4. I'm quite excited for this to come out. I'll wait for a thorough review though. If anyone at GSMArena reads this - please save a paragraph for music playback features or the ease of use as a standalone player.

AnonD-142657, 16 May 2013Another nokia phone without GPS. Nokia, wake up!!! It has the location based GPS technology.. its like it can plot the position of the communication tower from which you are connected which is approx 3kms maximum.. but it is still great that you can find out routes and live transportaion availablity from your nearby location..

Nokia will have to manufacture a suitable phone that can con-pit with the present phones in market and not all this Java Phones... Ahhhg!

In this price range you can't expect a gps. This phone is targeted for markets like india where most of the people use 2g data because of its low price. So adding 3g is not that much important. As far as comparison with low end android phone is considered, those phones sucks. They have millions of apps but only few proportion of them work smoothly, rest of them are laggy on those low specification devices. I am not saying that 501 have better specifications, but it have lighter os. When heavy usage is considered. Neither this device nor low end androids would be suitable. But for a basic user who wants to listen music, play some games, some emails, tweeting and texts. This device is perfect.
Moreover the new ui seems much more refreshing than android :P
