Really gr8 phone. Far better than the rex series. They have done something which android or lumia cannot do!
So Nokia Keep it up. Really hoping to see a 3.5 inch greater than 200ppi, 5MP Asha phone with 3g say $120.

Apps and games can access from memory card or only from device memory?
Can i set assign tone to contacts if the song is available on memory card?
Is there any facility to use phone as modem?
S40 based apps or games can support on new platform or not?(nokia conversatation says developers can run apps on both s40&new asha platform)

Runs pretty smooth for a cheap phone. Android low end phones with stutter all the time, force closes, and required factory reset every couple weeks.

According to Nokia specifications: Nokia Asha software platform supports Java apps and Web apps - so it's basically a Java phone :-(

It's so frustrating to read the comments about this phone in this page... Seriously... You people are asking too much for a $99 smartphone... The Asha 501 is a steal if you compare the price with its specs. It runs smooth and it looks good. Is it not about the specs; it is about the performance. Remember that.
The Asha 501 really is an innovation. Period. The best of Nokia (Hardware and Software) in one marvelous package. Add the $99 price tag, and this will sell like hotcakes.

How it is that it only has 64 MB of RAM possible? Is it a joke? They are digging their own grave.

i think this is a great innovation by Nokia. Since the Lumia phones are all micro-sims, it's better they start launching their low end phones with micro-sim as well in other for Nokia fans not to struggle with their sim- either Mini or Micro Sim.
