i think there's going to be a good solution coming next week regarding that brown and purple tint issue nokia c7 and n8 owners are facing here in the philippines..i have a hopefully reliable source and if successful..i'm going to tell you all next week..i don't wanna cause any confusion but if i'm not mistaken this is really a hardware issue..let's all wait next week..next week!!!

AnonD-3112, 01 Apr 2011Guys, I went to NCC today, just to go and check with them i... morei also have the same problem with my c7..after the first boot the menu wouldn't work,unless i reboot it again.it came after upgrading to pr1.1..and after updating to pr1.2 mine has restarted twice while doing bunch of things with the phone..and it never did before....but alas.my brown tint is only terribly visible when set to 75% brightness..when set to 50% or 100% it's barely noticeable..but of course it's still there..

why, 01 Apr 2011i haven't tried it yet cos the last time i tried installing... moreyeah.. I'm wary of experimental software too. I've installed this but am not using it..a known bug is that it disables the torch utility when its active (but not when its not)

john, 01 Apr 2011hey dude..change topic, I tried to install that nokia sleep... moreYou have two options to install the sleeping screen app. Its dependant on some Qt components. If you already have them installed its not a problem, but what I'd recommend is this : download the version of the sleeping screen app with the smart installer included (available at nokia beta labs). This will automatically download any dependencies it requires if you dont already have them installed. Then connect to the internet, preferably with wifi, and launch the installer. It will download the needed components and install it. Thats how I did it, and its working fine, although I can tell you its nowhere near as neat as what you see in the demo video lol. Enjoy. :)

No issues with the current update but also very much looking to 2.00 and I hope the wait will not be too long. The C7 is for me the best phone ever so far, it's solid, feels right, beautiful quality and is everything a smartphone needs to be. I am truly happy to be back into the Nokia fold.

Guys, I went to NCC today, just to go and check with them if they have any knowledge about this issue. But, to my surprise, the guys were quite unknown to this kinda problem. They didn't deny that it was a fault, agreed to it that it seems to be a Hardware Defect and suggested me to submit the phone with them at the earliest.
I have started having this automatic restart issue and the menu key problem ever since I updated it to PR 1.2. They told me that they will reinstall the software and assured me that I will receive my phone as good as new.
However, I'm not wanting to submit my phone straight away. I'll wait and watch for sometime and see how Nokia responds to this widespread issue.
I know one day I'll get my C7 AMOLED replaced, just don't wanna give them my phone for a week or so and not get it repaired.

john, 01 Apr 2011After reading Shannan's post about Nokia admitting the defe... morewell then let's all wait and see..next week i'm going to festival mall and gonna drop by to NCC i'm gonna show them the problem but i'm not gonna ask them to replace the screen as it may worsen the brown tint...i will ask them if there really is some good screen coming to their centers...i hope they are aware of this issue..
but i will let them fix my sim compartment problem..

hey dude..change topic, I tried to install that nokia sleeping screen app and it says, "unable to install. newer QT version needed" does this mean that I have to update my c7 to pr 1.2. Is that included on that update (newer QT version)? I also have 1 game that I can't install because of the same reason; but other than that, all apps and HD games are installing and working perfectly. thanks.

why, 01 Apr 2011it's confusing..cos i don't really have this issue before,i... moreAfter reading Shannan's post about Nokia admitting the defect and this is indeed a hardware issue wherein it can only be repaired with a screen replacement, I am no longer hoping that this is a software issue and can be fixed with an update. Besides, it doesn't really bother me after all. If time comes that someone here from the Philippines posts that he/she has brought his C7 to NCC and ended up having a perfect "tint-free" AMOLED, that is the time I'll be bringing mine as well. If I'm not mistaken, I have a 1-year warranty, and I still have a couple of months to watch what happens. But for the moment, it doesn't really bother me at all as I said before, the light control app is enough for me to watch all my HD movies with zero tint/discoloration as watching movies is really the only time my unit is affected with that "issue".

Does this mean that if I update to pr 1.2, the purple tint will evolve to red hue?hahaha.lol. Enjoy your phone guys. I'm sure, an answer will come soon.

I dont remember my 4 month old C7 having it when I got it, yet mine has a reddish tint on the lock screen clock now, and it has been there for atleast 2 months. It's not causing me any problems in other areas such as videos or images (the test images display as gray, white and black), and I've updated to PR 1.2 too.
As far as I can tell, the issue is inherent to the screen, and I dont expect differences to occur over time, you may notice differences just by changing the brightness level of your screen. If I could remember if my display had the issue from the beginning, it would have been helpful, but I dont, and in any case, I can definitely confirm that its not worsening, even after PR 1.2 (I actually think it looks better lol), but in the absence of a proper response from Nokia, what we're talking about are only opinions and speculations. One thing is clear,your phone either has the issue or not, and there's little we can do in terms of a fix, so if the issue is really bad then take it to NCP/NCC or else enjoy the device instead of worrying about it. hi guys,
Its just now that i realized that while using the camera, you can change the resolution from 8 mp to 6 mp by pinching the screen (like pinch to zoom on pictures). same thing with capturing videos, from HD to TV high quality. LOL. so stupid.
