Actually the backlight goes off because of the sensor. I think slight config to sensor settings will help to get rid of this.. This is not a manufacturer default by the way.

One major drawback of this phone is that , under direct sunlight, the screen goes blank.
THE LIGHT SENSOR IN NOKIA E5 " SUCKS!!!!!!"
Also the brightness of screen although set accordingly, it dances now and then. IT SUCKS!!!

doing a ryt job its grt fone about display its crystal clear even in sunlyt too too fast n grt battery bak up itss just to grt on demerit is that it does not have a secondry cam...

I recently bought Nokia E5. Within 30 days of use the phone battery went down and the phone would not power on despite several attempts to charge still the problem persisted.
The phone was covered by warranty and shipped it back to Nokia. The repair centre shipped it to a wrong address and customer care representatives Sherwin and others have not made significant follow-up to resolve the issue. It has been 20days and have recived my phone back. Nokia USA Customer care service is poor and inefficient and the representatives do not care at all. Disatisfied customer. Peter

actually my problem is tht i had downloaded an app called ''SMSLIVE'' and i need to remove this app from my phone !!! when i went to app-manager i had seen tht smslive is not listed..thn i had set d factory default settings but i didnt got solved !!1...plz help me !!!
