we really have the same phone. the Nokia E61i. it's a great phone, the only regret that I have is not to wait a 2 more month for the E71.
You can install OperaMobile on E61i (and thus the E5). I have it on my E61i. You just need to make sure that you don't use lots of phone memory.
1. Install all the 3rd party apps and updates in the memory card *if* you can.
2. make sure there were no photo nor video in phone memory. put all those photo and video in memory card
3. put/move all your sms/mms/email from phone memory to memory card.
If you did what I said, then your phone memory is big enough for opera mobile.
for this matter, i think nokia design team fail to make a great phone. they make a good phone, but not great. ALL their smartphone need to have a 3+1 drive instead of 2+1 drive. They need to make a standard of the C,D(just like in N97/N95/N81 8GB), Z(their virtual drive) + E (memory card).
Then, make all the SMS/MMS/email, photo, video stored on the D drive... BY DEFAULT on all their smart phone.
For the E61i or maybe E5, they need to include AT LEAST 1GB on the D drive. This will make sure that the phone experience will be maximize. I really hate hearing that someone can't run some apps, just because nokia didn't include enough memory.

opera is a big supporter ... moreI'm talking about "Opera Mobile" not about "Opera Mini" because Opera Mobile runs only on smart phone with larg amount of memory (64MB,128MB of RAM).
I've install it in my Nokia E61i, but gave a error while loading pages "Memory Full" because E61i have a very small amount of RAM.
That's why I've asked that will Nokia E5 support Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 or higher....

E5 have better OS than E71 (S60v3FP2 vs. S60v3FP1)
the OS part is very crucial
it make the browsing with wifi more power efficient, which mean longer use time between charging
