Again...regarding the build quality and operation you should have enough sense to check it out before you buy it or buy it from a reputable dealer who offers a return policy. If you spend this much on a phone without checking it first, or being sure you can get a refund if you do not like it, then you are not being very smart.

Anyway I find nothing wrong with the quality. I think a lot of you are searching for things to complain about or are angry you ordered in some way you cannot return it when you had buyers remorse.

Sounds like the E52 is too much for you. I am sure you can buy a cheap entry level phone that is better suited to your skill set.

Raman, 09 Jun 2010Hi, I have bought E52 in blore 3 weeks ago. I am testing t... morei have just the same power button issue, and the metal frame is also very loose, light leaks and dust goes in inside easily. eventually contsruction quality is horrible! the worst is the back lid!
i always have the latest firmwares and it freezes time to time, 1st type of freeze may be resolved by power on/off but the 2nd type of freeze needs take the battery off! and taking the battery off is almost impossible, such a horrible design, there is no way to hold the batter for pull up.

and i have the original finland made! :D

Peop... moreIn a phone like e52, n79 etc there is always an option showing open applications thru which one can check the open applications n does not have d need to press n hold d home key for a specific time. In my case my phone gets hang one to two times a day without any application running in d background. But u r r8 while saying dat most of time it happens due to people's negligence. Actually about this model especially one can never be sure dat he will get an error free phone. I am still nt fully dissatisfied with the unit i bought last week. But my advice is to others dat before making payment to the dealer, just check its speaker sound, if dat is atleast audible, then go thru. But there is not any option to check signal strength, which is another problem in e52 in most of the units. I am surprised, because nokias sets are known for their good signals quality. I love nokia phones, but i think nokia's aim is not to love people now and dat is making d difference. But what can one do....

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2010I am perfectly happy with Nokias made in Europe and always ... moreI also want a small, slim phone with a good battery life which is why I bought the E52 - the *concept* of the phone is excellent. Unfortunately the whole thing is ruined by flimsy construction and poor quality control

The reference I made to HTC was simply concerning the build quality of their latest high-end phones - which is excellent - and the fact that they are manufactured in Taiwan, not Europe. I did not suggest that they were a viable alternative for somebody wanting an E52

The E72 appears to be well made but sadly the E52 is not

The hanging is once again user error MOST of the time. People are leaving all apps and functions open and not closing them when they are done. Of course a phone will hang if you are using all of it's RAM with open background programs.

If you push and hold the little house (home) key on the left it will show you all open programs. The Menu and Standby are the only ones that have to be open all the time. So if you are not using anything else close it. I would bet most people do not close the functions like contacts or call log etc when done. Unless you have chosen EXIT the function or app will still be running even if you think you backed out of it.

people living Asian countries also prefer to get an europien one. But it is possible thru grey mkt only which is not a reliable source u know. I live in India, but i had to satisfied with a korean made which i bought for my brother last week. Thankfully its spkr sound atleast nt a problem. But i feel signal strength is not so reliable especially in low network areas compared to other models like n73. It also gets hang twice a day as far as mine is concerned. But still can nt be rejected due to some very gud features like lifetime free voice guided navigation with ovi maps, office doc editor, advance call manager, n gage games, free navigation mobile stand with the box, font magnifier etc. I hope my brother will like this set. I have also downloaded mob divx player, which is working fine with avi files.

People from other countries to europe never miss a chance to earn money u know. The main thing is he does nt want to take hassel. On the other hand, he is a relative, so it sounds bad to ask him again n again.if possible I request u to give me some shop or mall add in geneva only where he may get it at a cheaper rate n will not find himself in a position to deny. He is living there since 2007, so might b knowing how to get a phone at cheap rate but possible nt wiling to help. He had sent a n97 to his father in dec2009 of fin make. Dat was also thru orange network contract. His father is having no problem with his airtel sim here. But you know in dat case he was his own father. If u dont give any solution, then there is no other option to accept dat phone @ 299 chf i.e. Approx 12000 INR my friend. Anyways.

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2010Guess you haven't seen HTC phones recently? Some years ago... moreI am perfectly happy with Nokias made in Europe and always have been. I love the E52 and will buy another if this one ever dies unless they replace it with something even better. But every Asian made Nokia I have seen is clearly inferior in construction and materials.

I have no interest in a brick HTC or iphone that weighs even more. Some people do so good that they can buy them. I want a slim phone with a long battery and the E52 is the ticket.

If you got a bad one or don't like it that sucks but I get tired of people saying "don't buy this phone it's horrible or built badly or has bad sound" as a blanket statement since they claim theirs is like that. There are plenty of us with good phones who love them.

Broken out of the box? Why didn't you test it before buying? When I bought my Finnish made phone I had the shop open the box and turn it on so I could be sure there wasn't anything wrong with it. Sounds like you failed to do your due diligence as a shopper.

And in any case Finnish made phones are still superior. That doesn't mean perfect with no lemons but superior. Asian quality control is horrible and everyone knows it. Not many people would choose Chinese made over European made.
