That thing about defective mobiles is true,as in the beginning there were defective covers too!
The persons who tell this phone is not good for conversation, must have some problem with the phone or network,I had this phone, and although I received a defective unit (could only get 3.5G and 3G but not GSM),the conversation quality was awesome! And I returned my E51 because of bad call volume!
I believe that new batches are ok,and this will be a very very good phone (only a little more of stability on firmware).
Although it doesn't have the build quality of the E51,it is better than it in lots of things, not only on paper!
About Nokia,I was never a fan,but there is no mobile like this in other brands...
And about costumer service, one of the worst, people that don't know anything, people that don't care...
For those who want to buy this phone,go for it!

FarzanKayhanian, 17 Jan 2010What do you mean? You said that this phone is not good for ... moreHe means he isn't smart enough to realize that network service is responsible for call clarity much more than the phone.

If you have good network service the E52 sounds fine.

Ah and lastly I will say that Nokia really needs to revamp it's customer service. The call centers are a bunch of kids in the Philippines reading off scripts. Some can barely speak English well enough to understand what you are telling them. I have had nothing but bad luck trying to get someone on the phone that knows anything other than what they are reading off of their script. I was hung up on by one who had no idea what she was doing and clearly wanted to escape the call, told I would be called back (never was), and generally had my time wasted. When one of them didn't know basic things about phone number formats I asked him where he was that he didn't understand this...he lied at first and said he was local. If you are going to outsource you have to have people that are familiar with the service areas.

I love Nokia hardware and would prefer to have their phones over all others but I may jump ship if they don't get some better service presence.

This idea that Nokia would deliberately release a prototype or test batch is stupid. Companies are in business for one reason...to make money. Flooding the market with a bunch of defective or unfinished devices is going to COST you money in lost sales.

I find the s60 interface clunky and too complicated for simple tasks but the hardware is great. People are complaining about things that often are not the phone's fault like bad voice quality...as I said below that is usually the network not the phone. You also cannot expect a tiny phone with a ton of features to work as well as a dedicated GPS or camera for example. The majority of the posters here sound like kids or people with no idea what is realistic in a phone. If you leave all the apps open and don't use common sense of course the thing will crash...just as any "computer" will.

Basing on the user comments, there are a lot of software issues with the first batches of the E52.
This will be fixed in the coming months.
Buying now is your won risk.
But this phone is GREAT on PAPER.
Just look at the battery life.
              And the 3.5 mm jack.
And the metallic body and slim build.
              I loved the specs.
But reality is different when the phone is actually used by the customers.
You can't put a good phone down.
Let's hope this is the same with the E52.
For which I have very high hopes.
              From "Bangladesh" with joy!!!

I also think this can be a good phone. although all phones has some defects. like 5310 which the ring tone is really low and you cannot hear it easily. I don't have E52, I want to buy, think its fairly good if its not excelent ;)

Nokia have software problems with the phone but it is not a planned thing nor are they making guinea pigs out of their customers.

                        WISDOM,

Are you making this upor do you really believe what you are saying?

Pfff... this phone may have some software issues but it is not because Nokia deliverately released it that way.

Think of what you are posting - don't just make it up.

Guys, I'm in Bandung, Indonesia, and I'm considering to change my-exhausted-E51 with E52. But, couple of questions arise:
                              1. As @wisdom pointed out, is the latest version already free of software bugs (maybe, a new firmware has been installed)?
                              2. If so, how can I differ between old stocks (with bugs), and the new-already-free-of-bug version?

                              Thanks all in advance!

Johnny, 15 Jan 2010I have the same problem with the speakerphone, it is useles... moreif u switched mode from say "mass storage" to "PC Suite" when USB cable is connected, it may stop charging due to the switch mode that logically disconnected the cable (hence the port, and power to the port). in this case, it won't charge, it's not the fault of the phone nor the user, it's just how it is designed.
