People who knows the real OJ knows that my grammer would NOT be that off. Poor grammer is NOT in my vocabulary.

I certainly would NOT bring silly talks like coconuts and Cool Runnings to a phone forum.

Being an imposter gets you nowhere.

Original_Jamaican, 16 Sep 2009To TRF: Hello my friend. Just a few questions since yo... moreI think it depends on how loud is good enough, for me it's loud enough.

Oh I also have an E51, or rather my cousin. I was planning on buying one but it's not my style buying something that someone I know owns.

I'll try to test it against that but he seems to be on it 24/7. hahaha.

I'll also test it against an E72 when that's out.

                  -----------

How noisy do you mean OJ? Like in a Mall?

I've tried the call when construction was going on in the building, it was pretty good.

It's not everyday I can test the call cuz it costs a hell of a lot. hehe

I'll try using skype again when I can setup my wifi at home. then I'll try to give you feedback on how the one I'm calling is hearing me.

How about if I turn on the volume of the TV really loud? is that a good enough simulation of a noisy environment?

                  ------------
How do you find ringing volume in noisy environment ?

How do you find the earpiece volume in noisy environments ?

I can't say how loud it is yet cuz I always set it to 50.

When you speak to people in noisy environments do they hear you clearly and do you hear them clearly ?

Yes. when I used Skype voice call I(E52) can hear him and he can hear me(5800). I will try again since regular calls cost money.

How do you find the vibration when the phone is in your pocket ?

Vibration is okay I guess. but it's always outside my pocket when it does that.

                  ----------

If you edit a CONTACT and accidentally delete one or all their phone numbers, is there an option to CANCEL everything so that the deletion will be reversed ?

Example, let's say you have my number which is 000-0001 and you accidentally delete the '1' do you have a CANCEL option so that the 1 will re-appear ?

Nope, none that I can see right now. when you edit something, that's it.

                  ----------

I did a 1 hour voice recording last night full volume and the phone was on the bed some 3 feet away from where I was and it recorded it audibly.

even facing the phone it's still clear, if I turn the speakers towards me it's even louder. very nice. I played it back after recording.

Those seeking software/firmware updates can access them by punching in to their phone:

*#0000# and then "check for updatës".

As yet, there is no update available for the software on my phone - but it doesn't need it.

To all those mucking about debating whether the E52 is good or bad or better than a SLR camera or has music better than an iPod - GET OVER IT!!!

                      The E52 rocks.

I also have the crappy MADE BY NOKIA Asian phone and its totally reliable and well made.

I have had the Nokia E52 for approximately 2 weeks and it is a fantastic phone.

I have the MADE BY NOKIA E52-1 which by all accounts is meant to be the poorly made Chinese manufactured model that everyone is advising to avoid. I live in Australia and purchased the phone from Hong Kong - it arrived 4 days later in original new condition. It is not locked to any network and cost AU$415 which is approx. Euro237 or GBP212.

My phone is not poorly made and has not frozen. The software works fine and everything does what it is meant to. It has some additional symbols on 4 of the keys, (Chinese/Asian - I think).

There is a lot of talk about Nokia screwing up with this model or conspiracy theories on one country of origin being better than another. This seems trite as Nokia would (a) not risk reputational damage to their brand and (b) want the headache of returned phones. Furthermore, these phones all have common market sourced components and are merely assembled in these places.

I have no doubt that some people are unfortunately experiencing difficulties with their phones. This happens with any new model. Have you all forgotten how bad the first iPhones were - not to mention ZTC's?

Things that are great about this phone are:
                        - Quick processor speed.
                        - Robust casing and presentation.
                        - 2 home pages, (for personal and business).
                        - Built in GPS, (slightly slower to lock in if you are not using assisted GPS).
                        - Downloadable apps.
                        - The voice quality, (particularly the background noise dampener).
                        - Music playback quality.
                        - Multiple email addresses.
                        - Web speed.
                        - Screen orientation.

I can find no bad points or promises that Nokia have not kept.

There is also a lot of talk about camera picture quality. Seriously, if you want an high quality camera buy one - this is a phone that happens to have a quite reasonable camera in it. Its a waste of time comparing it to a Nikon this or a Cannon that...

Lastly, phones are a global product and as such one size does not fit all. Products are made in many locations for many markets and general are generic in their utilisation. This is the case with phones and nearly everything else we buy, (from cars to a pair of jeans). 20 years ago we resisted buying anything from Japan because it was perceived as low quality - now with electronic equipment would we risk buying a television from anywhere else? Chinese made/assembled products that are made to Nokia's high standards are no lesser phones than those from anywhere else.

Buy this phone - it hits the mark.

Bought Nokia E52-1 a week ago, really nice looking phone, seemed very pleasant to use. Unfortunately...nothing works as it's supposed to be. Phone crashes and freezes all the time, sudden re-booting after a few minutes use, sometimes impossible to start up. Tried everything from soft to hard reset, but nothing helped. I'm no technical expert, but this phone really really sucks...I'm really disappointed, because after all it's a beautiful slim phone...

Finally, you said you can't seem to find a problem with the signal.

It is said that when you compared the E52 side by side with a E51 the E52's reception is usually 1-2 bars less than the E51.

If you don't have a E51 to compare it with, use another Nokia which you consider to have excellent reception whether indoors or outdoors.

Personally I have never had a problem with any of my Nokia signal reception and I think Nokia phones on a whole have EXCELLENT signal reception, but, the E51 is said to have a stronger transmitter "increased transmitter power" (as said by www.mobile-review.com) and in my opinion the E51 seems to have a stronger consistent reception more than any other Nokia I have ever seen or owned.

That's why the E51 is a good Nokia to compare the E52's reception to.

Hello my friend. Just a few questions since you have been testing the E52 for a while now.

How do you find ringing volume in noisy environment ?

How do you find the earpiece volume in noisy environments ?

When you speak to people in noisy environments do they hear you clearly and do you hear them clearly ?

How do you find the vibration when the phone is in your pocket ?

                                      Where CONTACTS are concerned:

If you edit a CONTACT and accidentally delete one or all their phone numbers, is there an option to CANCEL everything so that the deletion will be reversed ?

This is a limitation with FP1 so I'm hoping FP2 rectifies it.

As you can see I'm ONLY asking you about telephony functions because simply put, that's the PRIME reason why I buy a phone. Telephony comes first and all the bells and whistles come second (smile).

I've been using the phone for days now and I cannot seem to replicate any signal or microphone problem.

                                        I'll keep testing though.

Sound seems very clear to me.

                                        The receiver is a 5800.
