NYT, 24 Aug 2009I just started reading the Nokia Support Discussions as som... moreIt's not that only 30% of the phones have the firmware problem and are returned... it is that most people do not know that newly released Nokias usually have crap beta firmware and there is no point in getting another one. It will suck too.

All you can do is wait a bit and newer firmware releases will be stable.. it has been that way with all my Nokias.

    The phone as u said is Made by Nokia.
    I bought it from Singapore and it does have a proper nokia warranty by the seller.
    I hope to get it replaced ASAP with the seller.

      I just started reading the Nokia Support Discussions as someone here mentioned. One thing perked my curiosity.

      Most people seem to be blaming the (early) firmware for the freezing and unresponsiveness of this phone. However, one person pointed out that he heard 30% of the phones were being returned for that reason. If the phone has a firmware problem why is it only affecting 30% of the phones?

        He says that "Nokia E52 will not be released in Turkey."

        May be months later :(

Firstly there are 3 manufacturing options which Nokia adopts. MADE IN FINLAND, MADE IN KOREA, MADE BY NOKIA. Made by Nokia are the ones which have major problems. These sets are made in China.

          There are a lots of units which I believe are not the finished products. These are the test units which Nokia work on before releasing the final product. Now what I heard from sources In China, lots of these unfinished products are re-conditioned and re labeled, packed and shipped to poor countries where there are no proper regulations regarding Consumer Rights like Africa, Burma, Bhutan, Afghanistan etc etc. Many Chinese OEM companies also make the exact replica of Handphones, Laptops and all kinds of Electronic products like DVD, Cameras and what not.

          Please check if your handset is made by Nokia. If yes, do you have a proper Warranty card issued by Nokia in your country.

          I dont have any complaints with my E52. Yes the vibration is very soft, reason being it is very very slim. If it is in your trouser pocket sometimes you dont even feel the vibration. Regarding backlight/illumination light which you said flashes below the lcd is the notification light if you receive any message or you have missed the call. Ofcourse you can turn if off through the control panel.

          Hope this will help you to sort out the problem.

            Hello ppl,
            The phone i have seems to be original.

            It has a valid IMEI.

            Also have a look on the unboxing pictures on the plemix site.
            The phone shown there has the same symbols on the keypad as i told abt.

            Also look at the issues posted on nokia support discussions.Lots of complaints on E52.I understand its released recently but still so many issues on devices.

            So people planning on buying this must first check the handset personally before buying.

                  I want the Graphite Grey (black) version, when Nokia finally get round to delivering this colour. Graphite Grey was clearly listed as a third option on their E52 data sheet - which you can still from the Nokia website.

                  Come on Nokia release this phone in the right colour, BLACK (or Graphite Grey in Nokia speak).

                    Probably you had bought a fake one.
                    (maybe a good copy of nokia)

                    Nokia E52's not been released officially yet.
                    (Except U.K and some other countries)

                    Real E52 phones are very good.
                    (Made in Finland & Korea)

                    I think most of the others are fake phones.

                          i totally agree wid what jade has told. U myt have got a faked piece.

                          Bcoz nokia india has nt officially launch e52. So u mst hav got it frm gray market. Even u wil nt get nokia care warranty.

                          If u cn give it back, jst give it back and wait for nokia india to officially launch dis product. It may take a time of min 1-2 months. So use ur old 1 till d date.

                              i mean if there are any kind of unauthorized symbols
                              and also that it have a bad build quality seems that it isnt a nokia maded one

                              but i find it good that u said it because people get false impressions

Just used wat came out of the box. Now i am back to my n73. Looks like a defective only. Am going to give it back for a replacement in a few days.

                                  u myt have got a defective piece. Otherwise many of d boarders here have rate this fon among d best fon they have ever had.

                                  Almost all praising d fon for its exceptional battery. So did u make an overnight charge? Bcoz experts advise to charge it for 8 to 10 hrs for 1st time.

                                  Thanx RAJESH for prompt reply. I also dnt like e55 bcoz of its typical keypad.

                                  Thnx once again 4 helping me. I m an indian and waiting for launch of this fon by nokia india. Its available in gray market but there we dnt get any warranty.

                                    8. Vibration strength is one of the worst i have ever seen.

                                    9.Buttons above the rocker bottons are a little difficult to use.Keypad is ok with large keys.

                                    Some symbols are there on the 1,2,3,4,5,# keys.Dont know wat language they are.Looks like chinese or Korean.

                                    To people wishing to buy this please hold the device in your hands and check these before buying.
                                    I could be that i got a defective one so pls be careful.

                                    I will update after checking out other features or if anymore issues comes up.

                                      I got one of these(metal grey) from singapore for 488 SGD.
                                      I WAS a die hard fan of nokia till i got this one.
                                      I previously had 6681,6233,N72,N73.
                                      I am using the E52(original but not Made in Finland. Its Made by Nokia) for a day now.
                                      My observations are(will be a bit long):

                                      1. Build quality of phone is bad.Cheap plastic painted like metal. It is also shaky and not fitted properly.

                                      2. Display indoor is ok. But outdoor in the sun it is worst.Cant read anything.

                                      3. Backlight escapes through the keys and sides.
                                      Also when the notification light blinks a huge streak of light illuminates below the screen.

                                      4. Volume on Loudspeaker during call is very low.But playing songs is ok.

                                      5. No illumination for camera key on side.

                                      6. Cannot delete multiple messages.Have to select each one by Options->Mark then delete.No dedicated mark button like pencil key on N-Series.# does not work to mark items, only for copy paste.

                                      7. As soon i switched on batt was full. But i used Bt for transferring about 400 contacts and it dropped a bar. I checked out the features inside for an hour and it dropped another bar.(not even a call i made)
